sent on 05 Febbraio 2020 Pros: Price, weight, brightness Cons: Sharpness Opinion: Maybe it's me who demanded too much from this goal. I did a road in Indonesia and I mounted it on APC-S. Whenever I wasn't perfectly careful about focusing the photos were non-sharp. Really too much time for a single shot. It's good for those who have different purposes from a trip and have a lot of time to focus on the subject or landscape that it is.
sent on 24 Maggio 2019 Pros: Construction, sharpness, aesthetics Cons: No electrical contacts, no graft lock, front cap too large Opinion: I bought it used for the price of €250 and I love it right away because of its build quality.. The front lens is really nice. I bought it to learn to photograph in hyperfocal exploiting especially the relative scale that is engraved on it and also to test the field of view of a 10mm. Using it in hyperfocal returns sharpness and crazy colors. The distortion you notice but I have to say I like it. Unfortunately, despite the lens being quite small, the hood makes it seem cumbersome... And since the fixed hood is not possible to mount the filters. It has no electrical contacts being a "full-manual" lens but maybe only one contact for the diaphragm could be comfortable. I do not know if it is my specimen in particular but when I horsemanship not feel the classic "click" That assures me that is grafted well.. For this it is also unusable without pressing the release button. Nevertheless it still remains firm to the machine and there is no possibility that it undresses itself. Very nice lens anyway, the advice
sent on 23 Marzo 2019 Pros: Colors, excellent sharpness, distortions contained, build quality, focus ring well-frictioned and positioned, bright, addictive. Cons: Weight and Dimentions for APSC and mirrorless, edge sharpness, non-removable lens hood, inability to use filters except slab, huge front cap. Stop. Opinion: Then... I have suffered a lot for this lens and still suffer! I Was undecided between the 10mm f2.8 and the 12mm F2 always samyang and then what do I do? I order Them both and then I keep the best... But I kept the best really?!? I State that I have a mirrorles and precisely the Fujifilm X-T2 and this has affected heavily on my choice. I Have used both lenses for almost a month and until the last I was still undecided. Both behave well about the distortion and however it corrects easily with a click in PP. I Preferred by far the 10mm for the angle of view because the 2mm plus make the difference and give you more leeway in case of correction of Perspective and related crop... But CMQ even the 12mm is not bad. The chromatic aberrations are less annoying than the 12mm and you really have to look for them in cases of contrast of light and inquadreture backlight and all in all in PP you eliminate without problems what with the 12mm is more annoying to do because the CA you notice more and even if You fix them in PP sometimes, it depends what color result you want to get, popping up in the form of uninalterable Grays. As For the sharpness I would say that wins the 12mm but not by much and however the difference is known only if you enlarge to 100% so, unless you have to print big prints, one is the other. The colours of the 10mm are more real and less emphasized than the 12mm that in PP allows you to derive any shades of colors you want... (Obviously it also depends on the shot) I found the 10mm in a macrocontrast better than in the 12mm for my liking and suffers less Flare in backlight while the 12 fatigue a bit more and shows flare even when the sun is not within the frame. With regard to the sharpness at the edges the 10mm suffers more than the 12mm that instead from 5.6 up it behaves much better. In Short, by pulling the sums the 10mm, apart from the sharpness, volume and weight, as far as I'm concerned wins over everything and the fact that costs more is not a coincidence. Pulling the sums at the end of the speech, although I would rather keep the 10mm albeit with some flaw I preferred to keep me the 12mm. Why? Coming from the world from SLR cameras I decided to switch to mirrorless especially to travel light, so my choice was conditioned by lightness (300g less about) and the size of 12mm compared to 10mm and the speech filters that the 12mm is They can safely mount. So I wanted to stay true to the mirrorless philosophy: lightness and size. Now: If you have a mirrorless and want to stay light and you are undecided like me on the 2 lenses take quietly the 12mm which however is a great lens. But If you have a reflex or you do not have problems with the weight and size and you think you do not use filters or use some plate filters take the 10mm without thinking twice! The Money's worth them all! P.S. and think that I had found it with warehausedeals at 238 Euri... Yes... Have you read well 238 Euri... Not a scratch or whatever... Still if I think about it...
sent on 19 Aprile 2018 Pros: Very good overall sharpness, brightness, well-built, unbeatable value Cons: Fixed lens hood, front Cap voluminous, inaccurate and unreliable distance scale Opinion: I found it used a cheap (Pentax-K) and I consider a purchase right. First of all, the aperture f/2.8 allows you to shoot even in low light without worries. Then the clarity, very good wide open in the Middle, and even at the edges is not bad. Stopping down to f/5.6 becomes sharp across the frame, which is rare for a wide angle so pushed. At constant aperture, in many situations it seems better than the Sigma 10-20 mm f/3.5. A few aberrations, mostly in corners and in extreme contrast situations, but can be removed with a few clicks. Unlike other Samyang lenses that I could try, this looks well built, with simple but sturdy materials. The graft is made of metal, for example. The hood is fixed, so in addition to not allow the use of filters, screw makes it cumbersome, even more so with the huge front CAP, which is pretty much impossible to put into your pocket when you remove it to photograph. To store the camera with the lens implanted it really takes too much space. Downfall finally for the distance scale of the focus ring. On my printed copy is clearly wrong, actual distance do not correspond to those marked on the knob, even the infinite is wrong, and after some empirical evidence I had to work with pieces of colored masking tape on distances. Luckily the huge depth of field minimizes the problem but on a manual-focus seems like a major flaw. Anyway, that aside, I would recommend it highly enough. Rating 8
sent on 19 Gennaio 2018 Pros: Sharpness Cons: no filters and no autofocus Opinion: Coming from a relatively little bright nikkor 18-105 the jump was huge, I bought it used at 230 euros and (practically as new) and for what I paid it I think it was a bargain, personally the only true flaw that I see is the lack of being able to mount filters and sometimes the lack of autofocus, but overall I find it very well.
sent on 25 Giugno 2017 Pros: Sharpness Cons: Flare Opinion: I own it recently, but I had a direct comparison with Canon EF-S 10-22mm f / 3.5-4.5 USM. As for the sharpness in the center, they are the same, while Samyang is definitely better at the edges than any opening. There are no significant differences in the level of distortion and color. Canon is preferable to the flare resistance, if the sun is directed at the lens, Samyang suffers more, nothing fancy but I was hoping it was better (as Canon). Good construction, great value for money.
sent on 07 Giugno 2017 Pros: Construction, yield, focal, brightness Cons: Lack AF, fixed lens hood. Opinion: is the perfect 10mm on ASP-C, sharp already in TA even up to the edges, AC and flare contents, perfect chromatic yield, build quality... In short, an almost flawless lens; AF is missing but it is easy to go hyperfocal, while the focus in manual can be a difficult hair; If we really want the only defect of this lens is the fixed lens hood that requires the eventual use of plate filters.
sent on 12 Maggio 2017 Pros: Construction; Quality rapport; Color rendering Cons: Lack of contacts; Maybe some weight. Opinion: Taken for a few months and used for indoor landscapes and photos. The yield seems to be great even in the light. Robust construction and a high reliability feel. The fixed louver does not allow screwdrivers to be fitted, so for those who use them it is necessary to evaluate the additional cost of the sheet filters. RnThe use in hyperfocal does not regret the auto focus.
sent on 08 Aprile 2017 Pros: Sharpness, brightness, constructive quality, price Cons: Can not use filters both circular slab, manual focus Opinion: Excellent lens, the photos have an amazing sharpness, it is true that lacks both autofocus that the focus confirmation but the use hyperfocal is simple on this lens. The only real flaw is definitely the fixed lens hood that does not allow you to mount the filters. I think particularly suitable for night landscape
sent on 22 Marzo 2017 Pros: Focal, construction, sharpness, low distortion, price Cons: Nothing screw filters, no contact Opinion: The lens itself is excellent from every point of view: sharpness, color, ease of use, control of the coma, distortion, flare, ghosting etc. Seeing is believing ... It lends itself well to all usi..unica what no filters ... and no contacts. the lens is manual focus ... but on a 10mm would be virtually useless ... and only one way to increase costs and pesi.rnConsigliata to all those who are also astronomical photography wide field, but also to landscapers who are willing to invest in a slab filter system
sent on 18 Febbraio 2017 Pros: Construction, image quality, brightness. Cons: Lack autofocus but very useable with some practice with hyperfocal, infinity. Opinion: Got it used in good conditions will be posted on this site. Beautiful images, distortion contenutissima eg a 10mm !!!! for people like me, has grown accustomed AF initially may seem difficult to focus a 10mm but really just take a minimum of confidence to manage the manual focus, and understand how to use it in different situations, nothing difficult excellent images of all the openings.
sent on 06 Agosto 2016 Pros: Construction, brightness, sharpness, low distortion, price. Cons: Exposure difficulty and focus in particular conditions. exif data incomplete on Canon bodies, maybe the weight, you can not mount filters. Opinion: I purchased this Samyang lens with creative intent for its luminosity and the very attractive price (is 350 € again). The lens is well constructed, made of solid aluminum, hand grasps its sturdiness. The optical quality is excellent, fine glass with a low dispersion element and two spherical lenses, sharp and bright, it seems to me throughout the frame (APSC), already 2.8. It has a petal-type hood and a cap with a very efficient coupling system. Unfortunately, the front lens curve does not permit application of screw filters. The lenses of the NCS treatment system reduces flare effects and intrusive reflections even in diretta.rnL'obiettivo light conditions is manual and this affects its operations: much depends on who uses it. Obviously on a tripod for long exposures (astro and time lapse) it is more suitable for, but I left around one afternoon to shoot handheld at Av (Canon 60D) and the meter has not missed a shot anthat in highly contrasting light conditions (using evaluative metering), spot metering more difficult. Also tried to make videos without any difficulty: the field amplitude and work in iperfocale makes the task easy and the results are pleasing and relative risk of micromosso.rnMaggiori difficulties for maf in low light conditions (from f.8 onwards), but with some manual foresight are obtained correct made fuoco.rnDistorsione contained, easily corrected PP.
sent on 07 Luglio 2016 Pros: bright, crisp already 'to F4 at the edges but already' excellent to F2.8, tutt in one piece, robust materials .. feeling of "goodness'" between mani.Ottima resistance to flare and chromatic aberration. Not particularly distorts the picture, the little that is corrected in 2 clicks on pp. Cons: the absence of confirmation of focus on Canon, inability to mount circular filters Opinion: Excellent optical, possess a 14/40 L and I must say that equal 'conditions the Samyang produces slightly more' sharp images and sature. In backlit little suffer from flare, already 'very sharp in TA, improves slightly to 5.6 f / 8, especially to bordi.rnGhiera MAF very precise (apart from that you work mostly in iperfocale), ring of very solid comoda.rnParaluce diaphragms, front cap very protettivo.rnUnico neo, inability to mount classic circular filters serves ... special frame that for now exists only for the 14mm.

sent on 11 Marzo 2016 Pros: Sturdy construction, sliding nuts, flare resistance, brightness, more than good sharpness. Very high quality/price ratio. Cons: Lack of filters, fire not always easy even if you rarely use for close shots, clutter. Opinion: In the ambit of Reflex APS-C is one of the few fixed "extremes" and no fish-eye present. The distortion is rather pronounced, while the backlight management is moderately good considering the focal length, although unwanted reflexes may occur. It has important dimensions, so I do not recommend using it on mirrorless where there are more suitable alternatives. In conclusion a very, very funny lens for landscapers, although the coverage of the scene and the management of the perspective is not always easy to manage.
sent on 07 Marzo 2016 Pros: Bright, beautiful color rendering, details, materials Cons: Quite bulky and heavy, impossible to mount filters Opinion: I bought this lens encouraged by the (few) online reviews. With magnificent shots in any occasion, I have not heard the severe lack autofocus as a focal so low it's pretty hard not to succeed in focusing. I also think that the distance scale is a little rough but it's a small detail. Distortion: Obviously, it's a 10mm .. but reduced to the maximum and easily removable with any 100% Recommended program and not wait to be able to use for night shots which I have not yet had the chance to do!
sent on 08 Agosto 2015 Pros: Bright, contrasting, sharpness throughout the frame, color rendering, construction. Cons: MAF assistance to underperforming, but marked distortion easily uncorrectable post. Opinion: Purchased in May 2014 and used almost exclusively on tripod he gave me beautiful shots. Crystal clear even at the edges from f4, a little soft at room temperature but acceptable, high-contrast, high color rendering. Built like a tank. A love him find fault the assistance the focus is not great 'useful, but honestly I've never felt the need. The resistance to flare and 'very good, especially compared to the competition, some occasional ray and' present and distortion at the corners and 'strong, but we are talking about a 10mm, in any case all easily uncorrectable post. Finally value for '/ price unbeatable. Highly recommended.
