sent on 22 Settembre 2025 Pros: Sensor quality, tropicalization, ergonomics, high iso sealing Cons: None for me, maybe af in low light Opinion: Since January 2025 I have sold my used k7 for exactly 12 years and after having squeezed it properly I needed an upgrade that I considered sensible for my photographic style since the only defect of the k7 was the tightness at high iso the eye fell on the k5 of course, from January to today I am practically having fun with it and I have already taken like 3 thousand photos, The photos I put speak for themselves I don't think anything else is needed, the Pentax K5 in my opinion still has its reason today, maybe with good lenses it still offers a more than decent quality, and if you know how to squeeze it properly you will get great satisfaction, absolutely recommended

sent on 29 Gennaio 2020 Pros: pro: tropicalized, compact, robust, perfect ergonomics, stabilized sensor Cons: cons: undervalued brand in the Italian market Opinion: I've been using it for more than two years so I feel Like I can do an objective review. Exceptional body, robust and compact. The ergonomics are perfect and the keys are placed in the right places. The double dial for time control and diaphragms is of absurd comfort. Even the keys with programmable functionality allow me to toggle the functions in a moment without having to go through the menus. Modicity-rich modes, including B-pose, synchro X, five-mode customizable P mode, S priority (sensitivity),T,A,TA (time and open), 5 customizable user modes. For example, I made a custom way to use the easel where: disable the stabilizer, activate the remote click, the three-second delay and the mirror raised with priority to the diaphragms, the electronic bubble and the automatic alignment of the horizon line. Basically with half a turn of the wheel of the ways I have the machine configured to be used on the stand without the worry of setting all the parameters. The sensor is stabilized and works with any optics. If the lens is too old and does not communicate its focal length the machine will let you enter the length and the stabilizer will work even on lenses of the 80s. Compatibility is guaranteed with all lenses from those with M42 attachment to those recently released. The sensor is 16.2 megapixel "alone" but has a dynamic range, a shadow recovery capability and a surprising high iso resistance. Let us not forget that we are talking about a machine ten years ago. Comparing the results to the same iso I can assure you that it has nothing to envy to more modern sensors. 16.2 megapixels are enough and advance to make prints 60 to 40 or even 90 to 60 with the advantage of having less bulky and less heavy files to develop. Your PC, your HD and your doorholder will thank you. PS: Do you have any idea about the quality of the lenses and the cost of buying lenses that can solve sensors of 24 or more megapixels? trust let alone, a nice photo does not make the number of pixels
sent on 17 Gennaio 2020 Pros: Compactness, ergonomics, high ISO yield, chromatic yield, tropicalized, sensor stabilizer, reliability. Cons: I'm aiming a little small, selling it... Opinion: I say that I love the brand, both for emotional reasons and for philosophy (a few machines each in its band). Previous reviews have already said it all, mine is just a statement of affection for the years that accompanied me with great satisfaction. I had various optics, zooms, fixed and old Pentax optics, always found divinely. I sold it for a high-end compact, but I miss it a lot. Ah, if only Pentax decided to do a mirrorless...
sent on 24 Ottobre 2019 Pros: Ergonomics, practicality of use, robustness, waterproofness, cleaning and tightness of high iso rows, in-room stabilisation Cons: Autofocus speeds compared to the competition, lack of autofocus in movies Opinion: It is a great machine and even today, 9 years after its release, a valid tool to obtain quality photos. In his day, he also gave points to more eplano-like models. Today the 16 mpx are considered a few, but for an aps-c there is already a lot of stuff, especially using the RAW, and cleaning the file up to 1600 iso does not make you regret major resolutions. I, like other commentators, come from decades of experience with Pentax, with the fabulous MX and LX, THIS LAST MITIC DIREI. I keep them jealously, with some optics that you can safely use on the K5. Although I have lately opted for the lightness and compactness of Sony A 7rii and A 6000, on which I also use PENTAX optics, when the uses become "hard" I have no doubt about the hold of the K5, a small "tank".
sent on 05 Maggio 2019 Pros: Almost perfect tool. Cons: No one for the price range to which it belonged. Opinion: I bought it new several years ago when it was already out of production, replaced by K5II. Every time I use it gives me great satisfaction both on the physical level of the "riding" and in the quality of image it returns. I own and I have owned many SLR cameras and not, of almost all the main brands, with which I have always managed to bring home images that have given me pleasure over the decades spent by passionate amateur photographer. But the "physical" pleasure that I get from this machine I only try it when I still use my old and glorious Pentax MX that I have for almost 40 years now. I partially agree on the autofocus speech about the only two sibling machines of the time (Canon 7D and Nikon D300) but they cost both several hundred euros more and did not have the exceptional performance/price ratio of the K5. I conclude with a wish of good light to all fans of this wonderful hobby.
sent on 25 Agosto 2018 Pros: Exceptional machine with no reservations. Cons: No Opinion: I state that I possess and use several digital photographic kits (Leica M9, Sony A7rII, Fuji XE2, Canon 5d2) but I have to admit that Pentax with all models and in particular with the K5 has reached qualitative levels, regardless of sales prices, Really of great quality. I do not go into details because already many have commented very well the characteristics of this model. I just wanted to detect the lightness and imprecision of....... which stated here, in January of 2018, that this apparatus is used less than €150!? You can also find free if someone has lost it.... Also the Eyecup D-ME53 accessory is definitely very useful, but it doesn't cost €15, but exactly €36.80!. I must admit that we are a bit all collectors because to make good indeed great photographs enough and advances a Pentax K5! A dear greeting to all, Caesar
sent on 12 Gennaio 2018 Pros: Iso 80 native, image quality, Iso seal, built-in stabilizer in the machine, tropicalization, backward compatibility with ALL Pentax optics, K mount, fully magnesium construction, 100% pentaprism viewfinder, key layout, user interface, key customization Cons: Autofocus a little below the competition (at the time) when compared to the Nikon / Canon machines of the same level (eg: d300, 7d) performance and construction. Opinion: Really amazing machine that now you buy used for less than 150 euros. What to say? EXCELLENT for everything with 16 mpx that are enough for anything to an advanced lover. I loved it and sold it only for passage to Nikon for the sake of reselling the whole system (although I kept some optics with the idea one day to buy the big sister FF K1). It has a very high image quality and a high enough ISo performance (it is still APSC) with a dynamic range worthy of much more expensive, emblazoned and larger format machines (we are talking about more than 14 stops measured by Dxomark). Do not waste raw anemic (as it happens with Nikon) and the jpeg customization in the room is very extensive and allows fine adjustments to obtain jpegs already usable. It 'an extremely compact machine, which allows you to carry it without much effort and coupled with a lens of our taste (I used the 17-70 f / 4 as a handyman) turns into a perfect machine for any use dispassionate during a walk ora photographic output. It should be noted that the Pentax APSC range of lenses is very broad, with fixtures ranging from 14 mm to 300 and many even professionally known zoom lenses. It is not a machine for those who take sports photos (the performance of AF is not exciting in this area, especially for those who are used to Nikon / Canon machines type d300 / d7100 or 7d) but for everything that is stationary or moves little autofocus is more than enough. The colors of the Pentax system are different from those of Nikon and Canon, although with Lightroom / Photoshop / the software you prefer we can do whatever we want. Needless to say, it accepts any optical MF produced in the last 40/50 years including some rare gems (including optics attack m42 with adapter) that are just a few euros even on the electronic market and that as a result of the SR (stabilization of sensor in the machine) also become stabilized optics, while remaining in manual focus. rnOnce the optional accessory OME 53 (15 euoriginal ro) that allows you to expand the viewfinder view, so as to make it more readable if we often use manual optics (it is still the viewfinder of an APSC ...). rnA little gem: the 80 ISO NATIVE (it is not an extension, they are real and are the minimum ISO selectable in the car - see the Dxomark tests. The only car that I think was pushed to a lot was perhaps the Nikon d810 (now the d850 ) ... I sold it and in the end I regretted it ... rn

sent on 08 Giugno 2016 Pros: Ergonomics, quality files, high iso held up to 6400 excellent, very good up to 8000, from 10000 up begins to degrade, 80 iso minimum, flurry, weather sealing, strength, stabilization, micro af adjustment, composition with sensor shift, menu packed with useful features, shadows and highlights in alarm liveview, viewfinder af speed, settings and menus, ease of use, hdr room that under normal lighting conditions can be taken freehand, built to last and designed as an extension of the photographer. Cons: In my opinion you have to be too fussy to find cons. Opinion: I own this beast and I'm ultra satisfied, I think for the same price there is no better on the market of the aps-c reflex. Has everything you need to photograph in any conditions, the HDR is amazing, I snapped a myriad always freehand and always come out perfect, in fact I think it's a masterpiece of fotografica.rnPentax machine unlike the competition, designs his models with the photographer in mind and not with the economic self-interest in mente.rnHo read that some have written that has trouble focusing in low light, well it is in total darkness! I never found maf problems in low light, if not precisely in the dark, I challenge other cameras in focuse in the dark, with only the light of 'af-assist.
sent on 16 Maggio 2015 Pros: Tropicalization, ergonomics, performance at high ISO, image quality, dynamic range ... Cons: For the time being detected Opinion: I have this camera for about a month and a half; I'm using it with an old Ricoh 50mm f2, manual, and I must say that I am really good: as ergonomics in my opinion is fantastic, lightweight yet durable, small (for its range) but it holds up well; as surrender I can not complain, on the contrary, the use primarily for portraits and night shots: the first is really practical, but above all on the landscape shows off its best side, I can reach well into 6400ISO with an acceptable noise and still correctable PP. the controls are simple and intuitive and I find comfortable double ring, which TAv mode is perfetta.rnNon I can only advise to all those who want, at a price all things considered modest, a reflex to the levels of a professional, and certainly the last two models released are also better rnAGGIORNAMENTO 28/06 / 2016rnDopo more than a year that the user can only confirm what I wrote, the very use in night shots and its yield at high ISO is incredible (to give you an idea, I took a picture at ISO 8000 to Andromeda and besides picking up the weak signal of the galaxy got a photo much cleaner than I expected). Definitely want good lenses to enforce the sensor but I'm working, the stabilizer in the room is comfortable and allows you to have any very well stabilized optical I must add; really excellent ergonomics and it is not heavy. The only flaw I found is that every so often a mistake to focus on in the evening, say around sunset, not quite in the dark, but I have never explained why since even more in the dark offers very good fire.
sent on 14 Novembre 2014 Pros: tropical conditions, light alloy body, overall it is easy to carry it by hand for a long time. shutter silent, fast lead time, good burst, noise at high ISO content. and more ... Cons: it says little speed focusing in low light Opinion: having other aps canon and nikon D700 ks, a large-scale comparison it can be done. is a great machine, second only to a ff, but slightly. light weight allows you to carry it around on long trips and with two zoom (the excellent Pentax 18-55 and 55-300 pentax always) you do everything. for those who can spend more, however, there are other objectives decent. maybe someone has reason to talk about colors a little washed out, but I think they are very true to life: the bright colors and very vivid picture of many, I'm a little out of touch! the burst is outstanding, the minimum time is from high-class car, the power is to be professional, modes and shooting scenes overwhelm, the menu easy and straightforward. how HST is really brilliant, I use it almost always with satisfaction along with auto ISO. I would recommend it to everyone. all in all, a pretty professional camera, apart from the sensor aps, aps but it is also in the price!
sent on 09 Maggio 2013 Pros: Solid, excellent ergonomics, essential functions and easily manageable, image stabilizer on the sensor. Cons: Autofocus a bit 'slow, lack of manual controls on video, MJPEG only (not AVCHD) Opinion: It 'a car that I love ... I tried Canon and Nikon mid-range not find the same feeling. Outstanding for use in manual, maybe combined with optical obsolete. Excellent high ISO, excellent color rendering, very natural using quality optics. I use it mainly with the FA 31 f1.8 LTD, a lens that I find it fantastic. The stabilization makes the optical sensor for the benefit of lighter and more robust. I could ask for a more handsome autofocus, in backlit conditions or strong colors sometimes completely misses the fire, very visible at large apertures. It seems that the K5II has exceeded this limit. A car that I would definitely recommend!!
sent on 25 Ottobre 2012 Pros: Excellent value for money, comfortable, and many customizable parameters (there are many, do not point them all) and well-placed buttons (useful keys RAW / Fx, Af and green button), M Hyper mode and USER, and still Sv, TAv Green and beyond the classic, double ring, high quality RAW, good dynamic range, 7 fps, tropical, system stabilization and dust removal and control more than good! (Always better than averceli!) 100% viewfinder, external microphone input (discrete inner); analogue preview of depth of field, interval shooting, multiple exposure, composition adjustment, confirmation of focus and parameter Catch-in focus ( useful especially with manual lenses) digital filters and other in-camera processing, noise reduction for high ISO and long exposure, and customized according to the ISO used, very good High ISO / low light; exceptional ISO up to ISO 800 (with expansion also ISO 80), optimal / up to 3200 more than good, good / decentin addition, up to max of 51,200 with expansion enabled, which is acceptable if heavily corrected in development, raising the flash pop-up mechanics and electronics, electronic level. Cons: The "good machine JPEG" is the default (at least for me), but you have to fiddle around a bit 'with the correct parameters for hue, sharpness, noise reduction and more; increases in exposure can be set by only 1/3 and 1 / 2 EV, no stop 1 (for ISO's), no manual video settings (iso and times; circumvented by setting the parameters in USER mode (Av), lock the exposure (AE-L) and turn ring on video); fast overheating of the sensor in video mode noise sound sensor that grinds while shooting video. Opinion: I like it very much! You can do everything! With the battery grip also acquires a more important aspect that tends not to hide because of the smaller than machines of the same category as 7D, D7000, and a few full frame. Have a good tool also helps the photographer more creative and more experienced: so does the Pentax K-5. Recommended!

sent on 22 Ottobre 2012 Pros: body sealed, compact, silent shutter, made at high iso. Cons: the colors are no longer the classic pentax, "shoot" greens and reds. optical park very limited, especially in the tele side. Opinion: it is a great machine with a very low noise at high ISO. up to 1600 in Video Does not nulla.rndiventa great for concerts, ceremonies, and in consizioni low luminosità.rni colors make it more like the good old samsung sensor, has a lot of dynamic range and this is a pro for recoveries but colors are very washed out, even after processing the file for use in PP.rnio naturalist I sold mine.
sent on 23 Settembre 2012 Pros: money compared to rivals, weather sealed body, dynamic range, low noise high ISO, close to 900 shots on a battery. Cons: screen not orintabile Opinion: A semi-pro camera body rugged magnesium alloy and stainless steel can be used down to -10 °, beautiful to hold and easy to use. Flurry of 7fotogrammi per second for sports lovers or not, with speeds up to 1/8000, unfortunately, the choice of optics is limited compared to Canon and Nikon, but as the saying Juza 4 optics good enough.
sent on 04 Gennaio 2012 Pros: strength, impermeability, high ISO sensitivity, low weight, value for money Cons: Sometimes impossible to find optical "Universal" (read: Sigma Tamron Tokina-) Imperdibilmente always available for Nikon and Canon brands. Opinion: Hi all, I am a fan of fotografia.Devo say that I've read so many reviews of the K5, and all praise this camera, even DPReview, classifying it among the GOLD AWARD well with a 83% score, ranking just behind Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and Nikon DS3 (ex aequo with 89% of score). shame that we are talking about Reflex 5/6000 €! This camera has a good quality / price ratio, a menu so complete in the first place could be a source of concern, but ultimately it is just as intuitive and therefore easy to interpretazione.Questa fabulous Pentax K5 I think is the best in its class and why not even categories of so-called "professional" because nothing has inferior to the latter ... indeed! Ultimately it deserves a 9.8/10.Maurizio.
sent on 12 Agosto 2011 Pros: Machine extremely quiet and robust. The behavior at high ISO is nothing short of amazing. Cons: Someone storge nose to its small size (for me it's a PRO) is not full frame Opinion: My ultimate machine! Excellent performance at high ISO, beautiful colors (like on all Pentax), extremely quiet (outdoor shutter sound is perceived just for me and I do street is the best .. the first thing that you had only machines without mirror). Coupled with Limited lenses is really compact while being robust and splash-proof and dust. Excellent!
