sent on 08 Luglio 2024 Pros: Tropicalized, stabilized sensor, double sd slot, second-hand price, for the year of release, Pentax was ahead of other more famous brands. Robustness of the machine body and materials. Excellent results at high ISO. Cons: It's called Pentax. Opinion: Taken used by a friend, I had been wanting a Pentax for a long time, always seen and followed by the keyhole, but like many others, I preferred to take other brands for work. Unfortunately and reluctantly Pentax is little followed, also because of their sales policy and little marketing. So little availability of third-party lenses and various accessories, you also want resaleability in case of up grade. Now, however, I am retired, and I am no longer interested in selling, buying and changing. I took the whim. Back at the K3, I was really impressed by the sturdiness of the camera as soon as I picked it up, the sound of the smooth shutter. The files are sharp and from tests done good performance at high ISO. Many functions that I have only seen in other brands arrive after years or at most have only on FF. It has dual SD slots, the focus as I use it is not slow at all. Always used with every camera the center point. (I feel good like this) if it is right or not, I am fine with using it in this way. Then the possibility of using old Pentax lenses without any type of adapter is not trivial, and each lens becomes stabilized, having the stabilizer on the sensor. I took it with an 18-135, also tropicalized, well balanced. What else can I say, I'm trying it, and to date I'm more than happy to have switched to this historic brand.
sent on 13 Giugno 2021 Pros: Robustness, WR, ergonomics, image quality, ease of use, battery, dual slot Cons: Continuous autofocus Opinion: It was love at first sight. I saw her on Subito and informed me in every way. A gorgeous REFLEX, a dizziness viewfinder and a thousand features that a professional should not give up, including simulation via small movements of the anti-aliasing filter sensor. The ergonomics, despite the weight, is perfect, keys and rings are all in the right positions. it's noisy, but efficient, it's bulky, but it doesn't miss anything, it's Pentax... This brand is a continuous hatred et amo. A story behind him that also envies Canon, but despite this it seems that no one cares about them, not even Pentax itself. Their site is obscene, the optical park and accessories is out of date, external software makes it worth it. But the car, the car really has everything, it's great and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't care about making videos. The k attachment is the same as the old Pentax, and this results in perfect backwards compatibility with vintage k lenses. I repeat, I recommend it, but it will be only you and her, without accessories, with few goals, but in love.
sent on 03 Gennaio 2021 Pros: Pro construction, tropicalization, double slot, 24mp quality Cons: Iso seal, optical park Opinion: It is necessary to contextualize the machine and its performance at the time of its exit, useless to compare it with recent models. As far as I'm concerned he gave great shots. The images are rich in details, with a good dynamic range and the files I find malleable. The construction is professional with excellent grip and controls in the right place. Tropicalization is excellent. Stabilization is useful even if it does not work miracles. Pentax tends not to stabilize the objectives by greatly sponsoring stabilization in the machine, however for models such as the k-5 or k3 stabilization in the machine I find it at the limit of sufficiency. The iso seal today is certainly poor but maybe it is aligned for the apsc sensors of the period. If you find a good used I find that it is still a good machine today, however it is necessary to make a reflection on the brand in general especially with regard to the optical park that turns out to be expensive, limited and largely dated.
sent on 18 Gennaio 2020 Pros: Compactness, construction, impression of general solidity and impeccable construction, 24 mpxl of those as god commands, stabilizer on the sensor, astro tracer and I stop here. Cons: Needless to say the optics, dear those of Pentax and not available for some years now those of third brands, consequently used market falsified by poor availability, indication of battery charge not always reliable, ignition from stand-by only from the shutter button. Opinion: I had already had the K3 along with the two versions of the K5, then because of the impossibility of finding long optics that fell and switched to yellow/black. Some time ago I got the monkey back for Pentax and I found it used at a ridiculous price with which with yellow/black you do not buy us even an entry. Nothing new I had already had, but after 4 years returning to use it was fantastic, another story, beautiful file, deep, balanced, workable, usable very well up to 1600 ISO with good light even at 3200. It may not seem like much but by the way I mean a photo, since I almost always use the full format of the flagships, with the colleague dx top of the range of the other I have to stop at 800 ISO. Then I read metropolitan legends that speak of tens of thousands of ISOs shot in the wind but do not believe it, every scarrafone is nice à mamma soja but a scrabble if it is such, such remains. For those who love astrophotography the pursuit with gps you will find it only in the House Pentax and a fantastic thing. Fantastic what Pentax can make that sensor do, simulate an anti-alliasing filter for example, not to mention the stabilization in the car that is just coming from other parts and that here has been home for over 10 years. In short, a fantastic body but we come to the sore note, to the tooth that commutes, the optics. They are the real Achilles heel in the Pentax house, especially in the field of canvases where the choice is bad and expensive, the fact that third-party builders have abandoned it for a few years has undoubtedly cut the legs to the brand. Practically we are stopped at the sigmone out of production now for at least 3 years and whose availability is reduced to the light, and that light costs a lot. Another flaw is the AF that was in fact back to the time it was out and that now makes any comparison impossible with the others, you have to call us and know that with this brand you have to give up something. Another thing That I don't like is the fact that when it goes on stand-by it just comes out of the shutter button, for those like me who are used to using the af-on to focus forces you to give a shot to the shutter button first and then focus, which if you have to seize the moment is a stroke, but go to explain it. However, in the calculation of the whole, given the price of the used now, I would say that if you find it will be 3/400 shots spent well.
sent on 18 Giugno 2019 Pros: Solidity, functions, detail, double SD slots, image quality, sensor stabilizer, top tropicalization Cons: In some situations of light rendered with some red/magenta tones,AF not precise to large openings Opinion: I write this review in the face of different experiences with different brands. I like to experiment,so in so many years,I had some of the best products Nikon,Canon,Fuji.... and now,Pentax. Made the transition from Fuji (fantastic)to Pentax with many doubts, given the comments always rather skeptical or even disparaging. To get started, I took a K5.... it ended that I found myself so good that I almost immediately made the switch to K3. I'm not afraid to say that the K3, is overall the best reflex apsc of those years. Its solidity is unparalleled. Fits with a brush in your hand and all the keys are at your fingertips. There is no lack of function and, indeed, it has unique ones! Simulation of the AA filter, stabilized sensor, catch-in-focus and many more. With 24mpx, there is no shortage of detail. Compared to the K5, the noise is noticed 1 or 2 Stop before, but beware: It is not in the least annoying and always remains better than many others, even recent. The AF is definitely better than the K5, it is more responsive, precise and fast, but with very bright optics, it does not always center the exact AF point, also has the "defect" common to many reflexes, to have the AF points a little too concentrated in the center , but in any case they cover the frame quite well for the different shooting needs. Let's come to the sore note... I happened to take pictures of magenta-colored flowers. Well, in this case I was grounded by the surrender..... well, yes, there are no other words to say it: terrifying. It's going to be light, I don't know... but it was all split. I will do further tests and I hope it is my mistake. There's also the false myth that Pentax has a poor lens set, but that's not exactly the case. Its bayonet K unchanged over time, makes it possible to use as many optics as imaginable... and the Catch-in-Focus feature, makes the focus very simple and perfect. Beware, however, because some vintage optics have a "poor" yield to TA and therefore the machine struggles to be as precise as AF. The stabilizer, works on any optics and also works well!! It lacks the orientable screen, but in my opinion it is not a flaw. It would have "weakened" a structure that is otherwise as solid as Thor's hammer! I mean, she's an incredible reflex. Pentax does not deserve to be considered inferior to the others, because it is not so at all. The K3, it's great in every way!
sent on 19 Agosto 2018 Pros: Compact, stabilised, tropicalized, excellent build quality, good high ISO seal Cons: AF continuous embarrassing, non-orientable screen Opinion: I had a K5, I tried it and I fell in love: Single AF decidedly improved, good yield to high ISO, improved ergonomics and live view finally usable in fashion; With various firmware upgrades It is also improved and now also has the ability to use the new lenses to KAF4 bayonet. The thing that impressed me the most are the files that are very malleable. Compared to the K5 the noise at high ISO occurs first (due to the denser sensor) but nothing terrifying; The single autofocus is definitely improved though unfortunately the continuous one continues to be the real weakness of the Pentax machines in general.
sent on 14 Agosto 2018 Pros: Beautiful, comfortable and light. Stabilized, tropicalized and seemingly durable. Very detailed images. Cons: The con is me, because it has a myriad of functions that I will never get to use... Opinion: In the order I had KS1, K50 (the only one I no longer have), K1 and now also K3, the silver edition, found used with 4,600 shots at a crazy price (for those who gave it, for me the so-called stroke of luck...). I use it in most cases with a 55-300 plm, while on the K1 I almost always have the 28-105 from kit, and after a few months of use I am struck by the incredible detail of the photos first. Very vivid colors, very sensitive autofocus even with little light and speed more than good, no matter what! I doubt that many of the critics speak by hearsay, as in the normally made use of a camera the Af of the K3 is enough and advances. I do not think that everyone does sports photography or birds in the air (without adding that this type of photo in addition to the lending machine wants technique that does not improvise...). Great burst. With the 40mm 2.8 limited it becomes tiny and offers an impressive total quality. High ISO? Definitely at the top of the leaderboard among the competitors. Also because, and it must be said once and for all, the Pentax in the instrumental tests turn out to be the only ones that have a perfect response between the isO indicated and the actual ones, when then the Fuji, which have the name of perfect machines in this area, happens that at 12,800 ISO set are actually less than 6,000... Do K3 files have noise? Perhaps less than commonly thought! Defects? Perhaps a few non-original optics, unfortunately! But Pentax has had enough and of excellent quality. It's not true that Pentax has a few optics, unless you need three different optics for brightness for every possible focal point
sent on 26 Ottobre 2017 Pros: Tropicalization, ergonomics, sensor, workability of raw files, autofocus, weight, cost, possible customizations, battery life, build quality, great files Cons: perhaps only a small amount of time gap from the moment of pressing the shutter button to the actual shutter release Opinion: This car is a real gem. It's a ridiculous figure compared to the same level as other brands and works just as well. The plus are many and remarkable, starting from tropicalization of body and constructive quality. I have quite large hands I have equipped it with its original battery grip (another story than the Meike type or other brands I own for the K7), with this mount surely better and the coupling is solid and much moreover, of course, to doubling the autonomy of the charge.rnBatteries last a lifetime, you can safely face a Wedding session without completely completing one. The autofocus, much discussed by many, is actually very fast, especially with optics with motorized focus. It also hooks up the subject even with low light and is hardly mistaken for a shot .... if it does it is because it has been pointed at a contrastless area.rn a very convenient bend and controls all at your fingertips. The double adjusting ringIon and ISO button near the shutter release button allow you to work quickly in Manual Mode without fatigue or pinging turns between the menus. The file that is blowing is another planet (compared to the K7 with which I can make a real comparison) . Much more workable and rich in information. The RAW shooting mode can be switched to 2 different formats: RAW PEF (Pentax owner) and RAW DNG (digital negative) I prefer and use. The RAW DNG is workable quietly with Camera RAW senzadover download plugins or other and are immediately visible with Picasa image viewer programs. My way of photographing is very similar to anyone who was using at analogical time without using filters or other such devices that I do not know about all the available automatics except for automatic white balance, which can also be set in multizone and works very well. The sensor is one of its strengths and the files that come from it outside are well balanced in both colors and contrastalready with the default settings, which are still customizable. The 24 megapixels allow you to make large format prints. I did prints of 85X127 cm and no picture of pixel pixels can be seen. It's possible to fine-tune the lenses (if I do not remember bad at 20) so you can work very quietly with everything.rnIn addition the bayonet K, which has remained unchanged since it was introduced, except for automation systems and stabilized sensors, allowing it to work with any adaptive lens making all the lenses stabilized. The dynamic range is very large, allowing unexpected recoveries with the K7 or with models previous.rn A fantastic and reliable car, often underestimated by anyone who has never experienced it.

And from one year that I own and it always amazes me to bring it back piu.nessun problem for the sea or in montagna.Resistenza water and dust to impressionanti.Abbinata optic produces valuable files stunningly sharp as to envy even more brands blasonate.Brava Pentax keep going |
sent on 22 Settembre 2015 Pros: Autofocus, detail, futures Cons: Noise already evident from ISO 400, flash with low performance, low dynamic range, low color depth, not faithful color reproduction Opinion: 3B which also revealed Dpreview on non-faithful reproduction of the color red. The flash does not seem to be appropriate to that machinery in the second version of the K-3 was even removed. Being accustomed to the photographic quality of K.5II if I were to go back would pass directly to a FF rather than take me home more noise, low color depth as well as the dynamic range. It was better, for a aps-c, stopping at 20 mpixel waiting for a technological progress. For example Nikon abandoned the sensor 24 mpixel of Toshiba (discrete output) which mounted the D7100 to use, now, a Sony sensor (highest performance) always 24 mpixel on the D7200, but this is just an example because the photo quality you see, then, on the field.
sent on 27 Maggio 2015 Pros: One of the best aps-c auttualmenti into production, tropicalization higher level stabilizer in the camera body, excellent ergonomics, burst, held at high ISO. Cons: I did not find against my use. Opinion: I got to use it for a while, lent by a friend, I must say that struck me positively, really excellent ergonomics, the buttons are in the right position, I love this pretty compact body that matched the limited objectives of Pentax is a winning combination as in trasportabilità.Qualità really excellent image, Pentax has pulled off a great machine.
| sent on 14 Novembre 2014 Pros: I think it is the best overall among APS-C currently in production. Cons: Perhaps it would be enough to 20 megapixels and have a better seal against noise at high ISO where in comparison with the sensor of the Fujifilm X100 is not just history. But you know the APS-C Fujifilm are from another planet. Opinion: For Neronemn who wrote: rn "I wanted this very machine, Dovo reading many reviews, I have a Canon 6D and 600D but I wanted to try this machine. I decided to purchase and I did it together with a 17-70 f4 SMD DA. At first all is well, it seemed, then they started disappointments, photo two out of three is not completely in focus and when you croppa disappointment increases. I have not slept for two nights to figure out the problem, but I had to change my mind and I started to hate the K3, unfortunately, until they decided to return it and opt for a 70D, far less attention to detail but I must say that the photos are great, all of them. What a let down and think that the Pentax hoi done a blizzard for it. I do not know if I would recommend it. "rnrn rn rnrnPosseggo a K5 and earlier K7.rnEntrambe a good SLR, but the 17-70mm f / 4 is not up to the quality of fixed lenses. Especially the 70mm f / 2.4, which costs less, is from another planet. | sent on 21 Settembre 2014 Pros: Tropicalization high level, light and compact, despite having all the features and functions of a flagship, robust stabilization in the sensor, absolute compatibility with the entire system Pentax past, high ISO performance, battery life, cost. Cons: It is a flagship in all respects so why not FF? Opinion: I've always had a Pentax with me and this is what pisses me off the most! I find it almost perfect in everything but why not put a FF sensor? I own 810 Nikon and Canon D5 III with all optical prof yet when I do not want weights and I need operational simplicity I always go out with my K3! Great AF and exposure, especially in RAW files are perfect, defined, with beautiful color rendition and usable without compromises up to 12800 ISO. The stabilizer on the sensor responds beautifully so that now between high iso and my tripod stabilizer is mold in the attic. I find the file in jpeg directed slightly lower than the K5 but not by definition for chromatic response. Excellent choice to ensure raw DNG because I find it bad software Digital Camera Utility 5, and then work with PS. Council not to enter the AA filter. Improved (for those who use it), the video section. To date, I would consider the best APS-c on the market with the best value for money. Too bad that the houses that produce targets take little account of Pentax because it does notoffers a wide variety of choice than competitors although presenting a list sufficiente.rn |
sent on 09 Giugno 2014 Pros: sealing high-level, cross-type points 25 out of 27, to yield excellent high ISO, burst, battery life, in short, many pro. Cons: a bit more noisy sister k5ii / s because of the dense sensor, flash back mmmmm compared to other brands, it is not full frame but it is not a defect. Opinion: what to say? great machine once again pentax model produces a state of the art, with a high level of weather sealing that is found only on high-end SLR camera, auto focus, I would say very good compared to previous versions, optimum dynamic range, excellent exposure, very beautiful colors and realistic maybe not always, there are dedicated optics, flash synchro perhaps be improved. some maybe a less dense sensor would have been better pe because of the noise but you can not have everything. there is no full copper, but it is not a defect definitely the best aps-c today. Ricoh continues so good
| sent on 08 Maggio 2014 Pros: well built and tropical, well-balanced Cons: in my case a lot of noise, poor quality focus, not sharp Opinion: I wanted this very machine, Dovo reading many reviews, I have a canon 6D and a 600D but I wanted to try this machine. | sent on 21 Gennaio 2014 Pros: Tropicalised seriously, stabilizer in the camera body, up to 3200 ISO noise accetttabile, resolution, it is not Nikon, not Canon Shutter guaranteed for 200,000 cycles, Dual slot for memory, Light Meter, Burst, Cons: It is Full-Frame, Human acceptable video (canon 70D is better). Perhaps the autofocus few thousandths slower than Canon and Nikon. Opinion: I am the happy posessore of K3 from only a week and I'm still testing. I come from a Canon 400D and I began to feel limited. The machines listed were 4 Canon 7D, Canon 70D, Nikon D7100 or D7000, Pentax 5IIs. Then Pentax has pulled out of the hat the K3 and I fell in love immediately. To me personally the video department does not interest me so much more than the Canon 70D 7D scartata.Canon was already nice car but starts to have her age as able to improve its performance and functions with new firmware. Nikon 7000 nice project but a little 'dated 7100 and suffers from that damn buffer and high iso behaves a bit' better than the Canon 70D but not by much though boast in 4Megapizze +. Aside from the video department where Canon 70D is unsurpassed (for now), the K3 seems to be the union of the advantages of the Nikon D7100 and Canon 70D. Sensor 24Mpizze, No filter A_A and ability to emulate him in the car, stabilizer in the car so any lens becomes stabilized, Tropicalized seriously, Dual slot for memory, 100% viewfinder anduminoso, Functions, and endless customization, rnIo I bought the K3 and coupled it took the Pentax 17-70 F4. |
sent on 15 Gennaio 2014 Pros: Excellent resolution, sharpness (no AA filter) excellent, filters and effects when shooting in RAW, much improved autofocus, bright viewfinder, effective stabilizer on the sensor, tropicalization "total", accepts all the targets with the historic attack "K" for Pentax Cons: Price quite high, complicated controls for those coming from K-5, a little 'electronic noise beyond ISO 6400, monitor does not swivel, the package does not include the USB 3.0 cable Opinion: I've had it a little but I have to say that compared to the K-5, the jump is increased by 50% notevole.rnLa resolution produces razor-sharp images and clean, especially if you have the foresight to leave off the mortgage of the anti-aliasing filter. In contrast, the highest density of sensor produces a bit 'of electronic noise, which shows up around 6400 ISO 12800 JPEG and RAW, even if it is non-invasive. In these cases it is better not to print over the size A4.rnLe possibility of personalized features are endless, but for those like myself comes from K-5 the various commands can be confusing, because some are arranged in a completely different way (reminiscent of a bit 'as the K20D). But once done by hand, we realize that they are very rational. Personally it took me a little 'time to get used to the logic of the autofocus settings (single / continuous amplitude and area of ??focus). You have to juggle a small button next to the barrel and rings front and rear, and the first few times it is easy to get confused. RNE about autofocus, is much more efficient. Even focusing a zoom 50-135 mm f / 2.8 SDM, although in itself it is not a chip, it is faster. It improves a little 'updating the firmware to version 1.03, available now. Good also the ability to "follow" a fast-moving subject, although of course there are far more specialized cameras. However, I was able to take good car in the race even if it passed behind some light poles, which is impossible with the K-5. The only problem is that the autofocus points are concentrated in the central part of the sensor, then with the subjects that need to focuse on the edge of the frame and reassemble. Defect, this also detected on the super-flagship professional Canon and Nikon ... RNLA tropicalization is bombproof. I used it for a whole morning in the pouring rain and did not bat an eyelid, you just have to be careful with the rubber flap that protects the connections, it is a bit 'hard to close butOnce the sealing is done completa.rnPeccato that Pentax has lost the opportunity to equip its flagship monitor swivel, tilt, or at least, as some competitors. Aside from this, however, is very sharp, and for me is very useful indication of magnification to 100% of the picture being revised. Bright also mirino.rnInfine, as mentioned, despite having a USB 3.0 connection, in the box there is the related cable and you have to buy it separately (and it is not easy to find). In addition, the program that is in the CD attached to the camera (Digital Camera Utility 5) should be systematically crashes when you try to download the photos by connecting to the PC. Two Pentax negligence that could spare a little 'more attention to detail ...
sent on 05 Gennaio 2014 Pros: Build quality, weather sealing true, K mount, speed burst, exposure meter. Cons: Not FF (but not really a fault). Opinion: Small premise: I do not own the car in question but I would be able to review, just as a small contribution for all those people who want to have a broader overview of what the market can offer more than the duopoly Canon - Nikon. Having the good fortune, for family reasons, to be able to go to Tokyo often pass some time in the temple photo of the place (Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara) so with great curiosity (and by twenty Pentax user, recently left to Canon, I did it with very afraid ...) I went over to try and try the new K3. So, the first feelings that transmits once contested the great build quality and relative compatteza: Once turned on, and put in "green" mode (fully automatic guess) I started taking a lot of photos (large room lit with neon) to see reaction shooting, auto focus and exposure. Well, remarkable burst (8.3 fps theoretical) light meter that has not missed a shot (I only say that pointing the viewfinder toward the ceiling with a forest of neon nothas underexposed anything, to which I pulled out of my backpack and my new Canon 6D done the same shot, same shooting mode, the same fully automatic mode and here is the classic underexposure ... I do not know if it depends on a defect in the 6D which tends to underexpose as I have read in various reviews but the fact is that the thing I was not very impressed ...), menus and semplice.rnrnInsomma very clear, proven experience and views on a very difficult field which the light of a interior lighting (that being the precise menu of K3 in Japanese, a language I do not speak, it was all set to "Automatic") in my small way I can say that I feel great macchina.rnrnCome said at the beginning, I have a nice outfit Pentax done in many years between various bodies (film Z1-P, * ist D, K-10) and slow (about ten) and then a few months ago I "exploded once again" the desire camera for reasons of time and effort I had a little sleepy and when I looked at what was current, well I wanted to try a full frame Pentax that unfortunately did not have a price list and tonow I'm on a hijacked kit + Canon 6D Canon 24-105 f / 4 (which then I immediately added a Canon 50mm LF / 1.2; then always Canon 70-200 f / 2,8 L IS USM II, a EF 2X III and the little 40mm 2.8 430EX Flash in addition to, PocketWizard etc.etc .... in short, a small bloodbath in terms of the €!), the conclusion is this: if I had tried before the K3 do not know if I hijacked the choice of Canon. I also have to say that since it entered orbit Pentax Ricoh you see small signs that things are beginning to turn this glorious home the right way: Before now I had never seen from Yodobashi Camera (which, incidentally, I think it can be coined the saying ".. if you do not find it does not exist here ..." type B & H in NYC but the advantage here is that being in Tokyo you can always go directly from Canon, Pentax, Nikon, etc.. they have in their city showroom complete with a service center for any question / request / intervention) many original accessories Pentax for sale (belts, bags, etc.). before that you had to ask the staff because in the exhibitors wastypically occupied by Canon and Nikon accessories. If this continues, perhaps it is said that they also come out soon with a FF.rnrnSpero at least you enjoyed my little contribution, I'm new in this forum so excuse me if I have taken of your attention I purpose troppo.rn
