sent on 15 Luglio 2024 Pros: Well built, good sharpness, tropicalized, lens hood included, not too heavy, with the K3 well balanced. Used can be found at super prices. Cons: For now I haven't found any, it's an f3.5/5.6 but this is already known at the time of purchase, so needless to say (it's dark) Opinion: Bought used at a really good price with seller's warranty, arrived as new, certainly new I would never have taken it separately, the price of new seems exaggerated to me, but this applies to all kit lenses, either you take them with the camera or it is not convenient. However, a well-made optic, robust and tropicalized, silent in the maf and also fast. I found the colors good and well contrasted, in any case I'm still trying it well. With my K3 it is well balanced, it does not extend much, it has a good grip of the tires to the touch. For now I am satisfied. It's my first Pentax, I come from years and years of working with other brands, now I've retired and I've taken away the satisfaction of getting a Pentax, which has always been in my thoughts.
sent on 21 Dicembre 2021 Pros: Great versatility combined with good image quality, compactness, fast AF, quiet, WR Cons: None evident Opinion: I bought this lens for my needs of sports outings, reportage, events, and at the first exit it was put to the test hard: a rally race and a vertical climb race, in both situations it behaved magnificently, silently and with a great focal excursion, excellent image quality (which you do not expect in lenses of this type). The "smart" is just a smart lens for all occasions and being wr is the icing on the cake
sent on 20 Giugno 2018 Pros: Tropicalized (WR), compact and well-built, AF, image quality, lens hood provided. Cons: Barrel effect at 18 mm, light chromatic aberrations backlight, f/3.5 at minimum focal. Opinion: I update the review of this lens today (17/12/2018) in the light of its first birthday of the 10,000 shots celebrated with the Pentax K 70. I bought the lens together with the aforementioned machine prefering it right from the start compared to the 18-55 mm that usually completes the kit. Its strengths are the image quality (excellent), the well-known construction and solidity of Pentax House, the AF (for the category), the compactness (for the focal excursion that ensures), the tropicalization and also the ergonomics of the bezel (I happened to Use it a little damp or wet but has always maintained an excellent grip). As for the points against me I recorded both chromatic aberration in the backlight and a slight softness at 18 mm (I think it is right to report these aspects that remain, however, in my view, easily solvable in post production and certainly in Line with its price range). An aspect that in its time I had little considered but on which today I would reflect a little more, is the F/3.5. That makes you suffer if you want to photograph with little light and no flash. The lens hood is supplied, a look for anything discounted in other brands.
sent on 12 Agosto 2017 Pros: Sharp, tropicalized, lightweight, little bulky, supplied hood (I come from Canon, never supplied except tamron). Cons: For what I have to do anyone, maybe the vignetting 18mm but correctable and loses sharpness to the edges. IMHO, all things you can fly over. Opinion: Used for just one full day: Great lens! Acquired with the k-70, crisp enough, more than adequate, light and extremely compact excursion to many smaller hiking lenses and above all it is tropicalized as the k70.rnVero that loses its edge Of clarity but overall I find it exactly the handyman I needed for hiking, weight, and footprint. Carried to my neck and backpack all day yesterday morning to night: I did not realize I had the picture car with me! What I was looking for! RnResults magnificent colors both in raw and in jpeg.rnAnd those who do not want to spend big digits and those who do not photograph, I recommend.
sent on 28 Luglio 2017 Pros: Handy (27-202mm equivalent FF), very compact, tropicalized, very fast AF (also on an old K10D), nice colors and great bokeh in daytime portraits even at f5.6 (being the stuff pushed enough), price in the used Cons: Chromatic aberration in the backlight (if I really have to find a fault .. it is a defect common to many lenses and correctable in a click in pp) Opinion: Purchased equal to the new (2 weeks of life) in Germany via the bay .. 265 euros incl. Shipping dhl. They also gave me a UV Hoya filter as if it were not enough. It's a good deal, I'm very happy with this view because it's the first superzoom I have and sincerely expected a worse quality. Of course I can not say that it is like light fixed optics, but it is very well advocated by giving discreetly sharp shots and above all a priceless convenience: full focal range + tropicalization. RnI bought it to "come back" to my old Pentax K10D, An exceptional iso 100 machine (but only iso 100 in my opinion). I needed a "battle" camera to use at 99% on the beach here in Brazil. So I solved it so .. supercomputer and optics both tropicalized .. and passes the fear of the wind (sometimes strong) that raises my sand or my daughter constantly raising water splashes. Of course I will not have the compactness / lightness of a fuji (which I keep onBut I have to say in defense of Pentax that they are well-tropical machines that run smoothly from -20 ° of winter in Prague to the equatorial sun of Brazil ... without even the soft plastics of the handle being minimally affected. Pentax has problems with it (the first one that comes to my mind is the continuous AF), but in this case I had a pleasant surprise .. that is this lens really focuses really fast (we are almost at the level of 16-50mm F2.8 with ultrasonic motor that I had and then resold for other problems - see my review-). Even with little light it focuses quickly and precisely (although I do not use it in these conditions because my old body does not support the tall iso). RnThe compactness then .. i just say this: it's 1 cm longer than the 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 of the Fuji .. it has a nice extra focal excursion! It is 2 centimeters and a half shorter than Fuji's 18-135mm f.3.5-5.6 (with the same focal length). And more is tropicalized .. something notN underestimate. RnUse it only on the beach, with the sun or in any daytime where there is a need for tropicalization .. I think that's perfect.rn I would like to point out that I use it "family", that is, we take photos of the days at the sea in the family, Softness on the edges "I do not even look for it (although some say that there are .. and I believe it, but for the use I do .. I do not care). I have noticed AC in the backlight (common to so many goals ..) but being removable in a raw camera click ... for me there are no problems. RnUn superzoom is bought for convenience, not for excellence in results. It will always get better photos of sketch-proof sketches with much smaller sensors. There are several on sale on ebay at more than honest prices (250/300 euro) maybe who has bought it in the kit due to the convenience .. change it Opt and put a fixed or 2.8 zoom at constant opening .. i do not know, anyway taken at this price is worth it if you think ofMaking it a day-to-day use. Combining it with a fixed light for the evening you have a very compact kit. I personally use it (as mentioned) only on the beach, while in the evening for restaurants, friends, birthday parties I'm fine with Fuji and bright lights. Now I just miss a Panasonic gx80 to film decently .. After losing so much time reading reviews and studying ... I understand that it does not exist and there will never be a perfect camera that is fit to do it all. Every camera excels in something and sins in something else. I prefer (as a non-professional amateur) to have more bodies / systems (though at low cost) that allow me to "excel" in what I have to do at that time (sea photos, low light interiors, video stabilized in 4k ..). In addition, this little bright zoom has "saved" my old K10D and has cost as a compact beach with a small sensor. Obviously, as always, everything depends on your needs (k10D + 18-135mm does not have the same size as a gopro session) mEven the quality is different.
sent on 17 Gennaio 2017 Pros: Construction, compactness, versatility, overall yield. Cons: At the maximum focal softness at the edges Opinion: Purchased in a kit with the K70, it is an honest zoom that does its job; I did not detect flare or chromatic aberrations and, especially in wide angle, the yield is more than satisfactory, including the absence of distortion; paintings on the side, the situation is different and there is a certain softness to the edges; as already said, The AF is very fast and precise, the height of the best competitors.
sent on 03 Maggio 2015 Pros: Extreme practicality, Af immediate, good sharpness general, fabulous colors, dust-proof and water. Cons: Less sharp edges. Opinion: The use for over a year on the Pentax K5IIs and, practically, not the detachment ever. This combination Pentax camera + optics have dimensions truly contained and is proof of any weather and ecosystem. Great the range of focal distance, excellent colors, with the K5IIs, without AA filter, the sharpness is excellent and good in the center to the edges, AF without any problem and, above all, extreme practicality, almost to the level of a mirrorless, wearing everywhere.

sent on 03 Maggio 2015 Pros: WR, compactness, good sharpness in the center, af lightning even in low light, colors Cons: Loss of quality at the edges, chromatic aberrations Opinion: It's amazing how this is 18-135 compact than its counterparts of other brands! rnL'af is probably the fastest speed as Pentax is that as precision, also with very little light, despite the low minimum opening! rnGli only problems are the loss of quality at the edges especially at room temperature and at longer focal lengths and aberrations color (easily corrected in post) .rnLa color rendering is excellent! You can fall in love with the colors that this lens brings out!
sent on 09 Marzo 2015 Pros: Auto focus, excursion Focal, Tropicalisation, robustness, compactness Cons: A few months ago the price, but now 400 euro is to be taken! Opinion: Are two years I use this lens (with purchased Pentax K5). In these two years I have purchased various optical but eventually the 18-135 I always carry with me.rnA I think the sharpness is notable for being a zoom (I also have a Sigma 18-270 that no has nothing to do) .rnE 'a little' dim, but it always depends on what you want to do: the focal length allows you to walk around with one lens and just a night stand or a wall:-) to lower the ISO; the Pentax K5 still allows you to shoot at high ISO without a great loss of definition then this is definitely needed if you have the need to travel leggeri.rnTrovo that this lens for people like me who is not a professional is essential and the best choice between all the various zoom on the market for Pentax low / medium costo.rn
sent on 09 Agosto 2014 Pros: Auto focus, focal length (versatility), build quality, wr, sharpness Cons: price if not purchased from a kit Opinion: Lens versatile, fast and quiet AF. The excellent focal length range (from wide angle to medium telephoto) allows you to not remove the lens from the camera for a long time. There I am fine, exceptional clarity. As a beginner I can not help but recommend it. It 'a lens to avere.rnSe it is at a reasonable price, must be purchased at all.
sent on 25 Maggio 2014 Pros: Auto focus, excursion Focal, Sharp also at the center at full aperture - Tropicalization Cons: Sharpness wide angle side, price Opinion: It 'an incredibly versatile lens and excellent performance even over the 20mm wide open. Given its zoom range and overall quality that offers you more inclined to not detach from the camera. Very quiet and the af. Limit pretty obvious lack of clarity and the overall yield on the wide-angle zoom but you know they are so broad compromises with which to contend. With what it costs you could possibly do more. Excellent build quality.
| sent on 11 Giugno 2012 Pros: Quick AF - Focal Excursion - Sharp in the center even wide open - Tropicalization Cons: Poor sharpness at the edges at 18mm is dramatic. Opinion: I wrote a review of this lens on my website, in testing situations every day and with a sheet of newspaper to actually see what was the sharpness. The result is disappointing, alas, the edges also closing a lot. Too bad, because the center is a crystal-clear lens.
