Pros: Taken at 999 euros new Fowa makes sense

Cons: Excessive and unnecessary weight, battery life, continuous AF and in any case only contrast AF

Opinion: Paid 999 euros, and that's its price. If you take a camera to have a well-defined viewfinder, it is your camera. If you love heavy machines that act as doorstops, this is your car. But if you need the camera for photography and you are not a lover of objects for the pleasure of owning them, there is better, otherwise they would not have made an S1RII with a smaller body and AF even in phase. Now it only makes sense if paid cheap: there are more modern cameras with better sights and that weigh less. Perhaps with the collaboration Leica they wanted to unleash a sort of new "fetishism" but given the market results they were wrong. For the rest it is in line with the 42 mega Sony sensors despite not being BSI.

Pros: Well built, great key handling, gorgeous viewfinder.

Cons: I come from an Olympus this the weight is felt (but after a while the habit is no longer noticeable), the non-compatibility to 100x100 with the old Sigma lenses with l mount maunt

Opinion: The machine gives the feeling of a real tank, well made and solid, it gives confidence in handling it. Combined with the original lenses and close to perfect it returns splendid images immediately, if well set up (almost) it does not require hole retouching. I've been using a Micro 4/3 system for years, so my first approach was a bit disorienting, I had to get the hang of it with the FF system, but once I got the hang of it I fell in love with it, it has an infinite menu, even with various effects used just to try how they came, (they only work jpg), the keys were put in the right places at least I get to all the keys and levers quietly. The manual focus is very smooth and precise, you have to be careful because being so fluid it takes very little to move it inadvertently. The optical viewfinder is a really excellent thing, a top quality. for me and passed with flying colors

Pros: build quality, low ISO file

Cons: Weight, ISO high not exceptional

Opinion: bought used very little at 1800 euros, I write about it after several months of use. Excellent quality of the body, controls I find them comfortable, even too many, but everyone has their own needs, I have memorized those 4/5 that I often use and with my fingers I go even in the dark. the files are great (I almost always use Leica lenses) at high ISO better than the younger sister s5. In the studio with a drum, even a patona, I take 1500 photos in one session. When combined, for example, with a Leica 24/90 zoom you can't use it around your neck for hours, it weighs too much!

Pros: Excellent complete machine in every department

Cons: Weight and dimensions are there, prices too high for bodies and the few goals

Opinion: There would be to write a book on the release of these S1 / R. Late releases at exaggerated prices, with 3 objectives in cross at unjustifiably high prices. It was certainly not the way to enter this category last. Let's go to the car. Well built, complete. Viewfinder, screen, functions, keys, materials are all as it should be. The only drawback is the XQD slot but at that time you had to pay pledge to Sony while she did not mount them. The AF is not at the highest levels but it is still good but here we enter the subjective, how to use the machine and for what. Excellent files with a dominant hot / orange that goes a little' dampened in post. Huge files, those who shoot a lot like me at events fill HD tape. If I went back, I would sell the R and keep the S1. The 2 machines are identical, changes the sensor and the electronic shutter that with the R reaches 1/16000 against 1/8000 of the S1. On the other hand, raising the ISO the R shows the strings 2 stops before the smooth. On the video side I have no idea, I don't care and it's just ballast for me. In the used they have excellent prices and data in hand have characteristics superior to the competitors of the time. The weight and dimensions are there, there is no denying it. Considering that they must be combined with top lenses, especially the R, weight and size are felt. Everyone will make their own evaluations but I hope you do not take an R to combine with 20-60 or the latest plasticotti released to "remedy". It consumes a lot considering the generous size of the battery. It tends to drain the battery if left in the car at rest. Unworthy eyecup, I could work a little harder. Once the machines have been registered, the warranty can be transferred to the new owner. Luxury packaging where the heaviest thing inside is not the machine but the manuals. They look like the old encyclopedias of yesteryear.

Pros: Almost everything, professional body, very beautiful, natural files, totally customizable, safe updates. It is not heavy: it is RIGHT x professional use.

Cons: Few

Opinion: After various experiences with Canon and Nikon reflex systems, I tried mirrorlens with Olympus micro 4 thirds. Great, beautiful computer interface and very easy body and optical update (which I no longer found on other systems). Then I used Fuji X-h1 and X-T2 and found myself even better as using the body because of the average size of my hands and the numerous physical rings, and beautiful patternss. With Fuji I miss a raw file conversion program that instead with Canon and Olympus were included when buying the machine. But let's get to the point. Now I also use the Lumux S1R, fantastic camera. I was undecided between this and the S1 I'd like to try; then I found a nice chance for the S1R and bought it. I feel very good, fantastic viewfinder, great display with very natural colors, many customizable buttons, very robust body and weight, I say this with conviction, right. I don't agree with those who say it's big, maybe they've never tried a Canon 1Dmark3 or the Nikon D3x or bodies with battery grip with the batteries !!!! The S1R is lighter. Size side. It's not big!!!! And it's smaller than many bodies with battery grip. Then think about the difficulty of handling small and sometimes even medium bodies with big hands. They can also be nice and lent cameras but if you can't work they come out as a result many photos taken badly. As with so many bodies, the updates will fix the small gaps that some can find: there will never be a perfect camera for everyone. Everyone will have their own preferences and find flaws that x others are not there. The only notable note is the period that has come out. He should have been dating 2 years earlier, along with Sony, maybe not so complete. But giving people the chance to see it mature with Sony especially optical side. In my opinion, there is currently a lack of an optical park like that of other brands. Not as quality, but as a wide choice. I have to say I was undead for Sony but then I trusted Panasonic and luckily sigma is there. Panasonic lenses cost too much, and Even Sigma x Lumix lenses cost a little more than their Sony attack counterparts and even more than those with Canon and Nikon attachments. I don't think that's fair. Unfortunately there are still few those designed x mirrorless but they will come. I hope quickly otherwise people won't choose Lumix. I would have liked the updates to work as with Olympus, that is, by connecting the computer directly these happen almost automatically. I reserve the right to update the review after more intensive use. Good pictures at all.

Pros: Very robust AF fast sightsee with excellent resolution many megapixels

Cons: Heavy XQD expensive monitor little orientable arrangement keys

Opinion: Built well with regard to robustness even if the arrangement of the keys and quality of the wheels is not the top (the lever for the ignition is really uncomfortable) I would define it raw compared to other brands that have a higher quality of the key plastics and sticks you could strain more in Panasonic , in practice is a Leica SL poorly dressed with the German shares the hardware but Leica SL has from its much better livery, clearly more expensive The monitor doesn't orient in all directions, given the cost , they could make a fully articulated monitor such as the Canon R or the Panasonic GH5 itself The double slot with XQD, but a second SD not? As machine body is quite heavy many competitors are lighter for example Sony A7RIII that I sold for the S1R File quality and good although I find the jpeg (since I always shoot in this format) have a slight red hot dominant , the files of the Sony A7RIII are more neutral, the megapixels are many and you can zoom as far as you want to look at every detail High important thing the L-mount attack that allows you to use the leica optics , Sigma and Panasonic The AF and fast and the stabilizer works really well the times laying can become critical and you have not micromoxed the hold to high iso more than good The menu for various settings and very articulated but once taken the hand is still simple and allows you to customize the machine as you want As for the video part I have to try it as I care relatively are for the photos At the end of the ends I sold it and I went back to the micro 4/3 heavy and uncomfortableppo the S1R did not cog me

Pros: Construction quality, ergonomics, top sensor, very effective stabilizer, single quick single precise and widely configurable autofocus, electronic viewfinder quality, touch and orientable display usability, clarity and menu organization, potential and rapid development of the L-mount system

Cons: Discreet battery life, continuous autofocus improveable.

Opinion: If I had to sum up in a single thought my impression on this camera I would say "pleasure of use". The impression I had from the first contact is of solidity and functionality. I found all the commands in what for me is the right place. Once you've configured your physical commands to suit your needs, accessing menus is very rare and still quick and intuitive. The file quality is excellent in all respects, detail, dynamic range and high iso hold despite the 47 megapixels. A special note of merit goes to the stabilization system. Using the camera with the Lumix S 24-105-f4 and 70-200-f4 lenses I got results beyond all expectations. My opinion on autofocus is divided into two: The single autofocus is sensitive, immediate and precise, certainly at the level of the best competition. Continuous autofocus is usable but improved. Following the subject you get the feeling that the subject is not always kept in focus properly even if then the photos really out of focus are few. Size and weight: from my point of view the dimensions are right (I never thought that a mirrorless should necessarily be smaller than a reflex) It's not a light camera but not too heavy either. If carried in the backpack with the rest, 3 ects of difference are uninfluential. If held in your hand the weight is compensated by the good balance with the optics and the excellent grip. If held around the neck for a long time the speech is different... of course these considerations are very subjective. Battery life is decent but far from the reflex equivalents. For my type of use I have never had any problems with autonomy but I think that for heavy use a second battery is a must. I find the presence of the double slot with the possibility of using SD, XQD and the recent CF-express very good. Convenient the ability to set directly on the camera time-lapse footage. I also appreciated the presence and usefulness of post focus mode. I do not express opinions on the video front because for now it is not my use.

Pros: File quality, ergonomic, very natural colors, three-dimensionality

Cons: Price, too many settings in the menu, currently few goals

Opinion: I tried the S1r and was pleasantly impressed by the very natural file, a very sharpness and the ability to enlarge the file without loss of detail, I tried the camera with the 50 mm 1.2 canon with adapter and the result is great, only the focus is l compared to the original optics. Even the body size is right you hold well and you have the feeling is not only to have a professional and solid body in your hand. Negative note from my point of view the menus, too many settings that personally do not serve.
