Pros: Total control over all parameters with physical dials, good, bright zoom

Cons: compact but not very compact

Opinion: I've had this machine for a couple of years now and for now, fingers crossed, I haven't had any problems like other users of dirt on the sensor. I find it to be the only compact camera, even if not easily pocket-sized, that has all the controls for aperture, timing, physical exposure. Really great not having to go into the menus. I find the software good, maybe some settings are hard to find, but ok. Image quality is great using an m4/3 sensor. Sometimes I start looking for better alternatives, but I think that in terms of portability, completeness of functions, brightness I can't currently find valid alternatives that make me say that I am making a leap in quality. I only miss a longer lens, but I would have to switch to a mirrorless, and I would lose its compactness which for street and travel are an indispensable gift.

Pros: M43 quality in a compact body, bright and quality optics, nice files, 4k for those who also make some videos (like me)

Cons: battery life, flash (read later), dirt on the sensor (but I haven't had the problem yet!)

Opinion: Taken, I took a trip abroad and I have to say: fantastic! The files are excellent, with a very good hold (for a compact) even at medium/high iso. The m43 sensor helps! Quality and feel to love right away! There are no dials for the PASM but you have to move around by adjusting the apertures/shutter speeds. Beautiful! I like it very much. Looking at the reviews already present I realize that I will not write anything new. So I'll tell you a gem of my own. The stock flash is "really modest". NG7. Fixed head. I looked online, and I realized that the Olympus FL-LM3 flash (NG9, articulated head) is perfectly compatible with a small trick (it is a matter of removing a small piece of flange, 1mm of protrusion that does not fit all the way on the flash shoe of the LX100/LX100 II). Sold the Panasonic flash, bought the Olympus one (in the end I spent a difference of about thirty euros). Result: now I have the self-powered flash from the camera, perfectly compatible (the Olympus is compatible with the m4/3), articulated head, and NG 9 instead of 7! That's great. I suggest everyone to do it (if you happen to find the Olympus flash at a "fair" price, new one costs 80 Eurozzi!). Back to the camera: passed with flying colors!

Pros: A 360° upgrade compared to the original LX100 which, however, did not upset the original system of the project.

Cons: For the same reason it shares the same critical issues as the first LX100

Opinion: I bought an LX100II "used as new" out of pure curiosity, wanting to test the differences compared to the first model of 2014 and I can confirm how the upgrade has its own reason for existing. The lens, for maximum aperture, focal length and performance, is almost identical to the previous model although, having changed the sensor, it has been coupled from scratch. The new processor makes the machine more responsive despite the simultaneous increase in megapixels, always good burst and I find useful the various features added such as bracketing focus for raw (and therefore post-focus for jpg 4k) or the ability to set the minimum shutter speed and AF with eye and face recognition. They also added the touch screen, improved the definition of the display, there is some more b / w profile for jpg but above all the menu offers the possibility to disable the automatic indentation of the zoom every time you switch from the recording mode to that of consulting the photos; in the first LX100 this was missing and the unnecessary and going of the zoom was honestly unnerving. The added megapixels allow some more crop than in the past even if I think that the fact of having a multi-aspect sensor available should be consciously exploited by those who buy a car with this feature, which otherwise is wasted. The dynamic range is improved (slightly) as well as the noise management and the raw file is a little more malleable. For everything else the machine remains faithful to the old LX100, with its strengths and weaknesses: versatile, it looks more like a mini-reflex than a "compact" pocket, fun to use both for the savvy and for those who are still learning the basics, it has its main defect in the electric movement of the zoom that makes it a little slow, compared to other projects, and sensitive to environmental dirt. I add that, in my opinion, some construction details are cheaper or worse assembled than the first LX100, which seems to me more accurate, and the battery (being the same for both models) in the mark II lasts less. I conclude by saying that, if the LX100 of 2014 is now affected by the abundant time spent, in the LX100II you can find all those small hardware / software improvements that make it more contemporary and "mature" but, basically, the photographic stamp remains unchanged.

Pros: Fantastic construction, attractive and well-kept aesthetics, bright 24-75 lens, presence of the viewfinder, good AF.

Cons: It is not exactly "pocket-sized", the front lens extends too much, sucks dust and dirties the sensor, very slow zoom, disappointing image quality (for me).

Opinion: I wanted to take a good compact to accompany my Nikon and Pentax FF kits. The choice was between this, the Sony RX100 VA and the Ricoh GR III. I had a good offer and I took it without thinking about it. Needless to say, it is beautiful and talking about the merits, already known and taken for granted, is superfluous. Let's move on, instead, to the do... notes lenses. The Leica lens is valuable as a construction, it is bright, but it extends a lot already from the focal length 24. I thought that the problem "dust" affected only the first series but it did not solve at all. After a few shots a nice black hair on the sensor! In addition, the zoom moves with a disarming slowness. IQ surprised me in the negative. I shoot only in RAW and the files, once converted and passed to LR, are very grainy (even at 100 ISO) and little engraved. In the end I brought it back to the store and replaced it with the new Ricoh GR IIIx (40mm focal length). No zoom... Ok. No viewfinder... all right. But really pocket-sized and with a 24mpx APS-C sensor that churns out scary files, spotless and engraved. Rating 5 (unfortunately).

Pros: Dimensions, functions absolutely equal to a SLR, solid and well-kept construction, aesthetically beautiful.

Cons: Maybe the battery, although I don't think it's poorer than others of the same category.

Opinion: I recently sold my brand new Lx100II, with death in my heart. An aesthetically delicious and functionally valuable machine, really a mini reflex. Unfortunately I found it very uncomfortable, I did not know where to put my hands, everything perfect, but everything Lilliputian. Too big for a casual use of compact, too small for a careful and reasoned use that, too, allows you to do. Really very nice files, some chromatic aberration, but everything quickly solvable. I couldn't even get used to the electronic viewfinder. Seen at home, on the monitor, the files were beautiful, but during use I just could not appreciate them. After a few hundred test rows to the cat, the dog, the parrots, the canaries, the bookshelf, the magnets on the refrigerator and the balcony plants I said enough. I had taken it for a matter of speed of shooting and handling, but, perhaps too accustomed to the SLR, I did not get neither this nor that. My fault. If what you are looking for is a simple point and shoot, but of a certain caliber, at this point, I think it may be better the fuji xf10 or the ricoh grII or III. Otherwise the Lx100II can really be the perfect machine. Unfortunately not for me.

Pros: compact, pretty, pretty good pictures

Cons: unnecessarily complicated, limited focal excursion, ridiculous battery, too slow electric zoom, non-reclining monitor

Opinion: I took this car when I was still using SLRs; the possibility of carrying a much lighter and more compact device tempted me a lot. after (at least) three years, I would say that love has not blossomed: the menu is complicated and antiintuitive, with each exit we can waste time; the battery is ridiculously limited, it can safely show you the full monitor and leave you on foot ten minutes later. all this makes you want to keep it in your pocket. it is only a pity that this market "niche" (that of professional pocket appliances) is completely ignored by all brands; there are very few alternatives to this LX100 II. anyway, I wouldn't buy it back.

Pros: almost perfect as an all-in-one solution, image quality worthy, if not superior, of a mirrorless m4/3 with lens kit. Good hold up to 1600 ISO, even the 3200 defend themselves. Very bright lens over the entire focal length and with good macro capabilities. Sufficient focal excursion in most cases. Practical user interface and quite easy to master, physical commands and dials that allow you to set exposure parameters even when the machine is turned off. It's in the pocket of a jacket. Profiles b/n

Cons: Absence of tropicalization, non-reclining rear screen, slightly slow electric zoom, dial on the back of the machine of a bit poor quality, would have made handy a standard rear ring for the selection of shooting time.

Pros: Compact, sturdy, beautiful, picture format that really changes

Cons: 24mm lens excursion, sometimes complicated menu

Opinion: I wanted to try this compact because I needed something small, good quality and without changing goals. The choice was almost obligatory as in terms of sensor size/brightness of the optics does not have large competitors for now. The car is nice, pretty, sturdy... from off, too bad that when you turn it on you comes out a trumpet too long to be at 24mm, imagine when you go to 75mm... you could maybe reduce it in some way, really annoying, makes you lose the magic in a short time. The menu is unclear and even if you read the complete manual you can not understand what some function means because it is explained with 2 words (and I'm not really acerbic in cameras). Beautiful function there change image format that however keeps the field angle, in fact the sensor is the typical 20mpx 4/3 but that depending on the format you choose takes more pixels in width (for example for the 16:9 from 15megapixel goes to 5152x2904 pixels) or height (17 megapixels if you choose 4:3 in which it goes to 4736x3552)... so there is no full 4:3 cutout but the necessary megapixels are used. The image quality is normal for the sensor that has, a little too much noise even to iso 200 for my taste. For the moment I have found no alternative for what I was looking for... it's not perfect but almost. Rating 8.5

Pros: Size, weight, lens sharpness, build quality

Cons: Controls too small, price

Opinion: I bought this compact to be able to shoot in any situation, without having to carry the FF equipment behind. The overall quality is good, and you can take home great shots. The lens is sharp, bright and has no particular distortion. The yield is remarkable up to ISO 1000, which is a great achievement for a 4/3 sensor! Exceeded this threshold, of course, the image is corrupted and mixed by the algorithms of noise reduction. It is a beautiful object, I would say "precious" in the construction and assembly. The viewfinder is very good and bright, and the rear display has an excellent contrast even in daylight, in the sunlight. The menu is a bit complicated and not always intuitive, but it is certainly a matter of personal tastes and habits (each of us is accustomed to the arrangement of the controls of the camera that he used more). If I have to make a note to this product, it is the absence of a dedicated battery charger! I can not understand why it is necessary to recharge directly from the camera, and for more with the cable provided with the ridiculous length...

Pros: Manual Controls, size, ergonomics, lens

Cons: Menu, lack of intake from 3.5

Opinion: Ever Since I took it is always in my backpack, ideal companion for the street. It Does not give in the eye and allows to indulge themselves. Excellent manual controls compared to other "little ones". This feature and the quality of the lens for me are the best perks of the machine. The lens however tends to warp a little and therefore, when it is possible, needs a little more attention in composition species with the lines at the edges of the image. The autofocus is fast and pretty accurate. Good stabilization: Sharp shots up to 1/4 seconds. It Works well linking with the app (Huawei P20 Pro): Great for Social shares. The perceived build quality and the materials used are pleasing to the touch and pleasing to the eye while not flashy. More complicated Menu than other small ones. For Videos It is a pity that there is no audio outlet from 3.5. Overall I like it very much.

Pros: Sturdy body and well done, controls and nuts, bright lens, good hold up to 3200 iso, precise and fast focus, very bright and definite electronic viewfinder, off-plan, excellent details even in non-optimal light conditions (do not expect Miracles though), good color rendition, automatic white balance

Cons: Menu in my opinion not intuitive (but I'm used to Fuji), lack of articulated screen, from the 6400 ISO you understand that it is not an APS-C nor a FF, high cost

Opinion: These summarily the very first impressions, nice trinket to carry around everywhere. Well done, I tried it in the house in the evening with ISO from 1000 to 6400 and despite this the jpegs are not bad. I did the comparison with the Xe2s and the 18-55 and up to 3200 ISO The difference is not so pronounced even if the chromatic rendition of Fuji is in my opinion unparalleled. Thanks to the aperture of 1.7 The plane's detachment is remarkable and the bokeh nice creamy to be a micro 3/4. Concluding the first impressions are more than good apart from the price that is really high.
