Pros: Lightness and considerable angle of view (provided you know how to handle it with skill)

Cons: Flare and ghost galore

Opinion: I took it out of desire to add a wide lens to my lens park of an OM1markii and experiment with a wide angle of view that is unusual for me. I took him on various panoramic excursions (lake, mountain, sea, architecture of interior churches, above all). So I write after intensive use in the field in various situations during the day and in the evening. There are certainly merits such as lightness while being plasticky to the touch, the typical brightness of the optics, the 1.7 aperture is excellent especially for indoors. Very responsive and performing autofocus on my camera, the price is certainly another advantage for such bright optics. However..... guys... but.... Resign yourself to losing a lot of shots. This lens returns flare galore on every occasion and circumstance, often you have to give up the subject because there is a way to shoot it without flare and ghost. It becomes a lottery and often like raffles you only get lost. In the end I rejected it and got rid of it. And honestly, don't tell me that it's normal for such a wide lens because it's not true at all to such an exaggerated extent. In love with the width I even went down as a focal length by switching to a zuiko 7/14 pro and honestly it is another category of lens that is now used and taken home at very low costs. With the 7/14 flare and ghost very little and the inevitable minimum, I never missed a single photo output. In the end I personally do not recommend this panasonic.

Pros: Quality and portability at the TOP - Excellent sharpness even at TA - Really negligible weight and size - Very good value for money (for the type of lens) - Plastic construction but quality (it is also a CON)

Cons: Distortion (if not corrected) present - Plastic construction but quality (it's also a PRO)

Opinion: A truly "Must Have" lens for those who are in the Micro 4/3 system, and this for a simple reason: with a negligible weight of 130 grams and tiny dimensions, you can always carry around a very bright wide-angle lens (18mm equivalent) (f1.7) and with a level optical quality: already at full aperture it does great, and just close it to f2.8 to get exceptional results! I confirm that the distortion is there but now it is a lens recognized and supported by all or almost all photo editing software, so it is a "non" problem, since it still performs very well even at the corners considering that it is a very wide-angle lens (yes maybe there is also a minimum of chromatic aberration but even that with serious software such as DxO PureRAW or PhotoLab is never noticeable in the final result)! Really super-recommended, especially like me if you take it on offer at 433 euros or already there on Amazon with the 5 zero interest installments (even if I had it "free" but that's another story) :fgreen:

Pros: All

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: An 18mm equivalent F1.7 in the weight of a few peanuts and the bulk of a tissue pack, with precise and fast MAF. Sharp enough and with a very interesting minimum distance to get very close shots. In short, for the price at which it is proposed, I would say that it cannot and should not be missing in an m4/3 kit. Basically you think you don't want to carry it around and then you end up that given its size, you always find a hole in your backpack. For those who talk about "cons" regarding the construction, honestly I don't agree, it's true it's plastic, but you can perceive that it's a high-level plastic, moreover it's precisely this that gives it its typical lightness which is the real strong point. Regarding chromatic aberrations, I personally find them well manageable in PP, at least with DXO Photolab. The lens hood is a bit difficult to attach and unhook but even it in my opinion despite being plastic is solid. The distortion and vignetting are clearly present but totally managed properly by the DXO correction profiles, I don't know with other software.

Pros: Weight, compactness, sharpness, minimum focusing distance, very resistant to chromatic aberrations, minimal distortions for the focal length

Cons: None, maybe plastic construction

Opinion: A wonderful surprise, this Panaleica is really fun, very close focus that allows very particular shots, excellent sharpness already at full aperture. There are no particular aberrations and the distortion is also corrected really well. Despite the rather "wide" focal length, it lends itself to many uses. The construction is made of plastic, which could make the nose curl a little, it has the advantage of a remarkable lightness. Attached to the G9II, which is a camera of considerable size, it disappears, it seems to have no lens attached. Fast and precise focusing, in short, a complete lens in every respect, worthy of being in any kit, especially if you want a wide angle with remarkable performance.

Pros: Weight, compactness, reproduction ratio, resolution at short distances (even at the edges)

Cons: Chromatic aberrations, build quality, infinity resolution, noisy autofocus, very high highlights

Opinion: Lens purchased as a rectilinear alternative to the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 8mm f/1.8 Fisheye Pro (lens of a completely different caliber) for ambient macro photography. This lens is ideal for short-medium distances, a context in which it gives its best showing excellent resolution over the entire frame even at closed apertures. At infinity, however, I noticed that it loses fine detail and in high-contrast areas aberration is very present. The distortion is corrected in the camera quite effectively. The out-of-focus areas are not particularly pleasant but have a very characteristic look. Coupled with an OM-1, the exposure of the lights is slightly high. Given the negligible weight, the build quality does not cry out for a miracle, it does not return particular solidity in the hand. The lens hood is a toy. I wouldn't buy this lens for landscape but for closeup/mid-distance photography, where it performs best.

Pros: Rendering, colors, medium details, spherical aberration

Cons: Distortion, aberrations

Opinion: Overall rating 12/10.Light and very resolving optics, very pleasant microcontrast. Distortion is widely acceptable, but some precise amateur photographers may not like it. Wonderful colors, intended for landscape painters, aberrations in situations of strong contrast, can be remedied by moving a little. The lens hood cancels out the side light very well, so I recommend using it. The focus ring is excellent

Pros: Sharpness, lightness, aperture, close up

Cons: Slight flare in strong backlight but nothing relevant that can't be resolved in post

Opinion: Optics purchased to replace the 9-18 which was too dark, there is no comparison of course also because this is a fixed lens with exceptional sharpness, with a minimum focusing distance that allows almost macro shots, the distortion is really minimal and the angle of view is perfect for the needs of those like me who bought it for vlogs or similar. I can only recommend it.

Pros: Weight, excellent optical quality already at full aperture, dimensions.

Cons: nobody

Opinion: Before taking this lens I read several reviews and saw videos on youtube, all of them to speak well of this optics, but when I opened the raw files for the first time, I was amazed, I could not believe that such a small lens could have a sharpness of this type, a flare resistance even at full aperture, just an extraordinary word! These types of lenses make it clear why the m43 is a unique system with unparalleled quality / weight from any format, I have tried them all and I know what I am talking about. A must have for all 43 system owners.

Pros: Price, aperture,focal length

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: Before buying my shortest focal length was 12mm (12/40pro) and if necessary for both video and photo I used a GoPro 9. Then, after thinking a lot about it and seeing hundreds of videos and reviews I decided to buy it. Mounted on Panasonic body I completed the kit, and now perr photos and videos (given the winter period) of family reportage use only him, and I hope to exploit it more for landscaping in the spring season. Very little distortion on the sides is the only negative thing I found, for the rest an equivalent 18mm, so light and at such a good price makes it a best buy. I recommend it

Pros: Minimum focusing distance, brightness, lightness, very low deformations.

Cons: nobody

Opinion: We often look for the blurred even when we photograph with a super wide angle, here is the right lens because thanks to the brightness and the negligible minimum focusing distance, with this lens everything is possible. It led me to change my street style, now I throw myself in people's faces. Highly recommended.

Pros: Sharpness, close focus, weight and size, price.

Cons: At the moment none

Opinion: Tried these days both inside, photographing real estate, and outside. Excellent sharpness and color saturation. Insignificant weight since the structure is made of plastic. The results are excellent, the focus of only 9 cm allows you to make "macro" shots of absolute effect. The bokeh effect is not exciting but good. I have not yet found an element of disappointment. Highly recommended.

Pros: Sharpness, weight, size, cost

Cons: Nobody!

Opinion: In my humble opinion here we are facing a new "must have" lens of the already fantastic line of micro 4/3 lenses. There is everything, the sharpness, the weight, the size and not least the price! Sure, some purists might complain about plastic construction, but I find it really well built despite this. We are there and it is a very advisable lens! PS Note the very short focusing distance that makes possible some really interesting close-ups!
