I really like the performance and the large aperture allows me to shoot even indoors in low light conditions. I'm among those who lost the lens hood on one of the first outings so I would say that yes, this is a defect!! To the touch, it gives a comforting impression of solidity. It does not have tropicalization but honestly for a "common" use I do not find it a real limit: not even the car is tropicalized, so in any case I would avoid using it in extreme environments. Highly recommended, for those who have "in the ropes" the focal length equivalent to 30mm can be a more than successful choice! |
| sent on 21 Agosto 2023 Pros: Yield, brightness, light and compact, build quality, diaphragm ring, hood. Cons: Cormatic aberration in situations of strong contrast, not tropicalized. Opinion: Often compared to Olympus' 17mm, this lens is actually closer to a 28mm equivalent than a 35mm. This focal length, in my opinion, is very versatile and allows you to do almost anything. Lightweight and very compact, even with a hood mounted, it is not a problem to always carry it with you. Coupled with the smaller micro 4/3 bodies (I use it on Panasonic GX9) it is discreet and allows you to go almost unnoticed. The maximum aperture of the diaphragm allows you to use it as a "night lens", also because the yield is excellent already at full aperture. The diaphragm ring on Panasonic bodies adds that extra touch to the user experience. The only defect in the yield, a certain tendency to chromatic aberration in situations of strong contrast. I also find it strange that a lens devoted to travel, precisely because of its compactness, is not tropicalized. Given the cost on the new, I think it's a feature they could have added. | sent on 23 Luglio 2023 Pros: Small, light, sharp, bright, comfortable aperture ring on Pana bodies Cons: I can't find any Opinion: Having never used similar focal lengths, and having taken it to start doing street + some close-ups, I can't say much more than what others more experienced than me have said; I add only 3 things that seem important to me: first, the minimum MAF is well below what is stated, I would say around 10 cm which helps in close-ups; second, the hood is included in the box, not sold separately; However, the springs that lock it in place are very weak, which is why I replaced the one supplied with a screw hood; third, the aperture ring is not recognized by the Olympus EM-1, while it is regularly seen by the Panasonic GF-1 and is really comfortable |

It is bright but fits in the palm of a hand, its metal frame conveys a feeling of solidity that does not clash in an environment, like that of the Micro 4/3, where everything is often plastic. It resembles in weight and size the old screw-pitch lenses of the rangefinder machines of the good times. Being a lover of the 35 mm focal length on the full frame I find this lens a valid collaborator when it comes to reporting. It never disappoints, the yield is excellent and holds up well to the backlight. In black and white he returns old-fashioned images that at least partially compensate for the nostalgia for the times of the film, when the Neopans were pulled to the throes chasing the dream of freehand nights. The sharpness is very good at full aperture, excellent from f2. The distortion is really contained. As far as I am concerned, the presence of the diaphragms ring is a pleasure. Pleasant the blurry obtainable even on 4/3. A little chromatic aberration solvable in post production, I would have preferred a key for the transition from Af to Mf a little harder in the drive. Overall a great glass, to have if possible. |

Purchased used guaranteed 1 year on Rce for the price of 370 euros, mounted on the Panasonic GX9, made the first shots to I was blown away. I have two Nikon 7 and Z6ii with related z mount optics, but I use this micro 4/3 for street photos and with the dynamic monochrome setting, it makes exaggerated images both as IQ, as sharpness and resolution. Never chosen was more guessed for this type of photo. Very very satisfied and I recommend it, try to believe. |

But aesthetics aside from the picture quality is really remarkable. Good blurry even if it is a micro 4/3. The colors are the Leica ones.I really like the ring of the diaphragms on the head. I'd like the other micro 4/3 targets to have the diaphragm ring as well. Recommended |

Opinion: What to say, everything I would have expected that such a small lens would have such a high quality, already at F 1.7 is sharp on almost the entire frame, the only bad thing are the chromatic aberrations always at full opening but are resolved in CR. I can't wait to go around shooting indiscreet for street in my opinion is the maximum, I have to try this genre . On olympus om1 mk2 the autofocus is very fast and the leica rendering is not discussed I immediately noticed the difference in colors between the panaleica and the zuiko. Un-tropicalized and unde stabilized? Opinion: Dimensions perfectly in line with the m4/3 philosophy, it sticks out just 20mm from the G80 shape! Its footprint is practically uninfluential. Weight so minimal that it does not unbalance the camera grip (also due to the size) Construction quality worthy of a handcrafted artifact of maximum precision; Brightness 1.7 that allows you to use the ISO 200 camera in the interior with ease. Physical diaphragms, very convenient for those like me who use diaphragms as a starting point in the settings. | sent on 08 Marzo 2019 Pros: Sharpness, image quality, build quality, versatility, compactness, aperture ring Cons: Nothing relevant Opinion: I Write this review after a couple of months from the purchase and after a photo workshop of several days, in which I could pull this lens in different conditions and in different contexts. Verdict: I'm in love with it. Thanks to its focal length I managed to photograph from the landscape to the portrait set, passing through the street without any problems. Initially I was undecided between this lens and the 25 f1.4, but after having tried them both I had no doubts: optical quality practically on par with a fantastic sharpness and contrast that makes the photos live both in color and black and white, but the increased responsiveness and Qu and the 10mm plus made me the easiest choice. Since then, I have practically no more detached from the machine. Turning to the ergonomic side I appreciated the compactness (I can keep it in the pocket of the vest fitted to my G80), and the aperture ring, very comfortable and by romantically analogue usability represents the icing on the cake. |

Opinion: Excellent lens for the M4/3 system, one of the must haves because you can really do everything from portrait to landscape, passing through the street and architecture. The yield is little digital on Panasonic bodies, while on Olympus it seems to me an artificial hair. Autofocus good but not lightning on GX9, probably should update the firmware stationary, from what I know, the same with which it came out on the market now almost five years ago. It handles colors and microcontrast well but the best gives it in B/w conversions. For anyone who wants to use the M4/3 system at best, compulsory purchase. |

The blur, although not exaggerated or easy to get (cause sensor M43) is beautiful and very cinematic. Excellent sharpness even at full aperture, it is true that presents a bit of aberration in backlight, but nothing unforgivable or incorrigible view especially the size. Strange focal length, but that made me make peace in my eternal indecision between 28 and 35 equivalents. Coupled with another longer optics (in my case the 45mm, but I'm considering taking the 25 always Panaleica), is a spectacular double to use for anything. |

Ineffective aperture ring with Olympus machine bodies. Opinion: I own and use this lens on my Lumix G9 and GX8. The quality of the sensor is maximally elevated by the sharpness of this ' glass '. Exceptional chromatic response, precise aperture ring and with automatism, AF excludable and precise, build quality in the best Leica tradition and produced in Japan. I have other lenses, Canon and Panasonic, also professional, but the Panasonic 15mm 1.7 Leica DG Summilux is by far what I prefer. The lightness but at the same time the robustness of the lens are perfectly matched in particular with the GX8. In the hands the whole thing seems ' light ' but instead you have a precious and precise photographic tool. Appropriate for street, reportage and portrait. Equivalent in FF to a 30mm, it offers a very natural angle of field and close shooting with minimum distance of MAF of 20 cm. Excellent sharpness at TA, it reaches its maximum already on values between f 2.8 and F4. Able to give always and however images of high quality, density and detail, is obviously a bright lens that ' sees in the dark '. Particularly recommended for the Lumix system. |
