Pros: Hybrid Phase Detection AF, Scary Stabilization, Highly Customizable, Dual SD Slots, In-Camera LUTs, Leica Monochrome, Beautiful and Workable RAW, 100mpx Pixel Shift Function

Cons: Inexplicable lack of some functions present in other LUMIXs, a somewhat important weight for the MFT world, lack of display that can be oriented towards the photographer

Opinion: After a great experience with my stainless G90 (which remains in the ring as a second camera body) but tired of its somewhat dancing contrast autofocus, I decide to give myself a gift and throw myself on what is the flagship of Panasonic's MFTs, the G9 II. An absolutely positive initial approach, a pleasant return home as management of menus and functions, which allow me to sew it on myself immediately in a quarter of an hour, net of a few more minutes spent on the new improvements (programmable Q key and two front keys in front that I used to manage the focus). The machine is solid (and very heavy for those who are used to the average MFT body, since the body is the same as its full-frame sister) but you quickly get used to it. On the way out, you immediately understand the high quality of this product: combined with Panasonic lenses, it offers a screaming stabilization, allowing you to leave a tripod or gimbal at home. I was able to take home long exposures with shutter speeds up to 2" easily shooting handheld, which is unthinkable with other camera bodies. With OM System lenses, although not stabilized, the performance is still stratospheric. The autofocus is a blade, and can be set in sensitivity directly in the settings, with different presets that can be saved as needed. The system now recognizes people, animals, cars, motorcycles, trains and planes and does its job beautifully. In the room they have also given the possibility to download your own LUTs or those of other creators that allows you to churn out JPGs already worked if you don't want to go back to the PC to go through Lightroom. Nice, but I prefer the PP all the same. Two other functions are excellent: the ability to take shots at 100mpx with the Pixel Shift, and the Leica MONOCHROME profile that makes beautiful images with a contrasted black and white and excellent quality... also customizable and, when combined with the RAW, you can still keep and edit your shot as you want (The Leica only applies to JPG). As defects I found few but in my opinion a bit annoying on a camera of this range: the lack of the upward adjustable display is absurd in a camera that proposes itself as photocentric (but it is known that Pana now only pampers videographers) and then the inexplicable lack of panoramic shooting and double exposure functions present instead in the, so much reviled here on the forum, G90. They were nice and sometimes useful functions, culpably removed and postponed only to work in PP. Too bad. In conclusion, however, overall excellent machine, absolutely fabulous purchase and that I recommend to all micro-four-party dealers.

Pros: STABILIZATION, ERGONOMICS, QI, SUPER CUSTOMIZABLE, PRICE, IMPROVED AUTOFOCUS, LEICA MONOCHROME

Cons: NOT BEAUTIFUL DESIGN, SLOW ON FIRST START, SLOW IN DISPLAYING THE FIRST PHOTO

Opinion: I sold the OM-1 to get this G9 mark II so I could use the m4/3 lenses I already had. The camera is very, very good in both photography and video. As a photographer, I would have preferred the cockpit display a thousand times over, but I understand that being a 100% hybrid camera, the totally articulated display is the right solution. Extraordinary I.Q. for an m4/3 and excellent stabilization (it must be said that I was already very used to the stabilization of the OM-1). The dynamic range is excellent (better than the OM-1) and the autofocus is also excellent, certainly better than the old G9 and more performing than that of the OM-1. The camera body is very ergonomic and can be customized in a thousand different ways: many buttons and dials that allow unrivaled customization! Among the goodies we find the Leica monochrome... wonderful and also customizable! In short, a camera with which you can indulge in all photographic genres and that does not disappoint at all because it does everything and also does it very well. my rating is slightly higher than the OM-1 (however a lady camera). Good price, better in second-hand shops. Recommended for micro four subcontractors.

Pros: Stabilization, image quality, ergonomics, ease of use, functionality, price

Cons: Dimensions

Opinion: Like all Panasonics (alas), if purchased at the right time, you can save a lot of money. In addition to the competitive price for what it offers, the 4-year Fowa warranty is not to be forgotten, which is a nice security. I needed Fowa once and they solved it quickly, free of charge even if there were the extremes to dispute the repair under warranty. Removed the preambles, the machine is really enjoyable, very simple to use, dials, keys and wheels to configure every good thing without resorting to the use of menus. Perfect ergonomics, also due to the dimensions that for an m43 are a bit exaggerated. It is true that the lenses are small and performing, but a smaller camera body would have been very welcome. The image quality is the most beautiful ever seen on m43, at least for the cameras I have been able to try. The RAWs are very workable and the management of shadows and highlights is also quite good. 16-bit RAWs can churn out beautiful output. The hold at high ISO is decent, probably the OM1 is slightly better, but if you stay on 1600 ISO, max 3200 ISO you have no problems, beyond that you need to work with Denoise otherwise the noise is clearly visible. Fantastic stabilization, it allows you to deal with situations that are difficult to manage with other combinations. I can do macro set handheld with the 100-400 at 400mm and the shots even at relatively low shutter speeds come out just fine. There are features not present on other machines such as Live Composite, starlight, focus bracketing, hi-res in the car and other nice things that allow you to do unusual things and that still help for certain occasions. The touch screen has the same responsiveness as smartphones and can also be used to navigate menus, very convenient. The autofocus, not yet at the level of the big names, is still fast and allows you to have fun even in birdlife and in any case in fast photography. The tracking is good and very complete as a feature, there is also the pre-burst function present only on machines of a very different range. Splendid Hi-res, fully usable not only on a tripod, but also freehand. The camera can decently manage even some small movements that may occur in the scene. In short, a very complete machine, easy to use and with excellent results. With the right and not too expensive optics, such as the two Lumix G 12-35 and 35-100 F2.8 zooms, it represents a small kit, not too expensive, but with excellent performance. The maximum is obtained with fixed lights, but even the zooms, both from Panasonic and OMD, allow you to do everything.

Pros: Technical features, image quality, ergonomics, autofocus

Cons: Dimensions

Opinion: Where to start? Big step up in IQ of the micro 4/3 in my opinion with this sensor, but only at base ISO. When you go up to ISO you quickly get to the usual problems, mitigated a little by the new sensor, but always present. The ergonomics are great, but not perfect; However, this means that the machine is big, sometimes even too big. The new autofocus can be heard, it works well and as a first phase it is excellent. For the rest, it is generally a great machine, in every sense, with the limitations and advantages of the micro 4/3 system.

Pros: Stabilization, file quality, key customization, very comfortable half-shot release, excellent recognition of people, animal faces, unparalleled high resolution shooting, excellent viewfinder.

Cons: Some creaking coming from the SD card compartment door, very slow at the first start even over two seconds, slow with zuiko 90 mm macro, good ergonomics but not great for my hands.

Opinion: I am happy owner of both an OM 1 II and this fantastic G9 II and I must say that they are both excellent, the first faster with unbeatable ergonomics, the second slightly slower but with a file quality, especially in high resolution, never seen on mft (I'm always talking only about RAW). Despite the increase in resolution, the behavior at high ISO is similar to the OM1 ii, however, both can be used up to ISO 6400 for almost clean and detailed prints up to resolutions of 100 pixels/cm (over 50 cm long side) using new digital noise control (AI) technologies. Improved battery life.

Pros: Ergonomic, infinite adjustments, high jpg quality, tropicalized, great solidity, excellent stabilization, dual SD slots, USB-C charging and excellent sealing results up to 3200ISO

Cons: Battery life

Opinion: I had the G9 I decided to switch to the G9II, I have both panaleic and olympus quality optics, so getting rid of it would have been bleeding out. Taken in the hand, it is little different from the G9 with the exception of the upper display, easy to use with an exceptional menu. Updated the firmware to version 2, minor problems disappeared. I took simple photos, nothing special, but between the colors, the sharpness and the black and white leica all photos taken in the evening satisfied me. Taking 100-megapixel photos without a tripod makes you realize how excellent the quality of the stabilization is. It is a micro 4/3 that with its 25.2 Mpixel and the software that works very well gives excellent results. For videos it's excellent! Very satisfied
