Pros: Compactness, lightness, photo quality, system completeness

Cons: Almost nothing, maybe lack of stabilization, LCD viewfinder

Opinion: The G100 was presented as a vlog camera, but it is not. This is an example of how Panasonic does not know how to do marketing. It is a camera that is able to give the greatest satisfaction in photography. It is absolutely in line with the M43 philosophy. Small, light and with many features that make it perfect for touring. In the photographic field, a couple of batteries are more than enough. The AF is not designed for sports or birdlife (also because mounting a telephoto on this camera makes no sense in terms of weight balance). The G100D came out with an excellent OLED viewfinder and USB C socket. The LCD viewfinder is not the best but you can use it safely since it is still large. It also has a magnificent LCD screen that is easily seen even in the sun. True, there is a lack of stabilization, but in such a small body it is forgivable. The shutter goes to electronic above 1/500. But even this is not a problem in the tourism sector. In short, it has some limitations but many advantages. The photographic quality is indisputable, especially with good quality lenses. Video? Crop in 4K? AFC slow? These are things that do not interest me; for videos I use the iPhone which beats many cameras much more performing than this little one. In a small bag you can find space with the 12-32 / 35-100 all-rounders, accompanied by the Zuiko 45, Panaleica 9 and Zuiko 17 M2.

Pros: Compactness, photo quality (RAW), ergonomics, low weight, aesthetics

Cons: Materials Mounting especially door for charging, battery life

Opinion: A real positive surprise, purchased for its compact size. It has proved to be a real little gem for the photo department, I don't make videos. I come from various brands of the same price range has proven to be clearly superior, it will be my definitive companion for excursions and trips where I need lightness and at the same time quality. It does not have stabilization but I do not see it as a lack, I use Om system F4 pro lenses specifically the 12-45 and the 40-150 perfectly balanced and at the same time gives me high quality photos for an amateur of my level. In low light I always use Olympus 20 pro. It has many customizable buttons. The only two "defects" are the poor battery life and the autofocus that is not very fast and not exactly precise, but in manual it is a razor where it does not disappoint even in birdlife or macro photos of small insects and flowers. In conclusion, a small all-rounder, a real bargain for value for money.

Pros: Compactness and solidity of the body. Photo quality (with the right optics), very good video side (apart from the cropped 4K) and a great versatility of use.

Cons: AF video can be improved (in line with other Panasonic), 4K with crop factor too pushed and lack of stabilization at the height.

Opinion: I bought this machine to have compactness and quality, also attracted by the use of video. I must say that instead I was very positively surprised by its use in the photographic field: combined with the right fixed optics (I mount the Lumix 15mm, the 20mm and the Nocticron 42.5) is giving me great satisfaction, in terms of depth of field yield and quality of RAW. I previously had an Olympus OMD and this Lumix is much superior to her in terms of plasticity, contrast, colors and a certain retro touch. Much more solid and manageable, with a good viewfinder (although improvable) and a crazy screen, completely articulated and very valid as a "touch response". From the video point of view I expected a small Gh5 (which I have been using for years with satisfaction for work), but apart from the idea of improving the audio with Nokia system, I find it in all respects inferior to the "big sister": the 4K is not comparable (very good instead the full HD of this G100), the workability of the files lower (I have not yet tried the V-Log), The stabilization is very lacking especially in motion and panning, the autofocus always very uncertain. I do not use it for vlogging, but I will try to use it as a second machine, perhaps with Ronin, despite the limitations of duration of the recordings (why??!) and the low yield in low light conditions. I can always carry it with me, very comfortable and well balanced with semi-wide-angle lenses (between 28 and 35mm corresponding on FF) compact and / or pancakes. The battery life is poor, but I have already purchased 3 extra batteries, which are small and portable. This small Gh5 has an excellent photographic yield (I repeat, I know), sensor quality and a complete mirrorless charm ... and usually photographer with Canon full frame. It could be revolutionary and up to Sony's for video, but it suffers from limited professional use and some really irritating system blocks (or limitations). For two reasons: it lacks headphone output (again, but why??!) and has no valid HDMI. I would recommend it for the relative use that I have done so far. I thought it would be uncomfortable as ergonomics and keys, I absolutely have to change my mind. Carrying it with you is really a pleasure, it makes photography simple and impactful. Waiting at the gate the G100 Mark 2 ;)

Pros: Compact size, light weight, great sensor for photos and videos, tiltable screen, very good audio.

Cons: For me the only real flaw is the autofocus in the video department.

Opinion: All in all and a very good room for both videos and photos. But what literally drives me crazy is the autofocus in the video department: he does what he wants not what I want whether you use it in Afs, AFC or Aff, he follows you, yes, if you do even minimal movements of the head but every time he refuses and when I see the video see the hunting is really annoying. Then video with focus in manual. In fact, now I use it only to take pictures in pair, according to the need, with the PanaLeica 12-60 (when I want maximum sharpness) or the Tamron 14-150 (traveling). Another flaw is the crop in 4k video that I consider exaggerated much less marked in Fullhd. In short, love / hate!

Pros: Compactness, lightness, image quality, viewfinder and monitor.

Cons: stabilization, mechanical shutter.

Opinion: Meanwhile, my opinion concerns the photographic part as I am not interested in videos. I was looking for a second body of quality but light and I came across this g100 that I must say left me speechless for how small and light it is but above all for the quality of the images and the variety of functions available. The only note concerns the stabilization that is only digital and only for video. For photos you have to rely on lens stabilization (when there is). Another note concerns the mechanical shutter that reaches only 1/500 of a second and 1/50 for the flash sync, handycap partly exceeded by the electronic shutter that reaches 1/16000. The slow synchro however prevents you from using the flash as a fill in light. Perhaps it is the price to pay for having such a small and light body (412 gr with the zoom 12-32). Taken at just under € 400 at Km.0 I can only give a nice 10.

Pros: Compactness, microphone attachment (almost useless given the excellent microphones), hot shoe attachment, viewfinder, tiltable display

Cons: Viewfinder definition, crop video

Opinion: Very excellent compact micro 43, it is slightly larger (due to the viewfinder) than a gx800 but is superior in everything. 20Mp sensor more than great, very good viewfinder but on the sides it gives me a strange effect, like blurry, maybe it's my only problem. Ultra promoted video side, good stabilization, too bad for crop but nothing so dramatic. Stellar audio, it has a jack attachment for the external microphone but is almost useless thanks to the amazing microphones provided. Too bad for the few keys and the lack of an extra ring, but if you are looking for compactness you have to give up. 566€ vlog kit on Amazon, absolute TOP. I use it paired with the G9 or when I don't feel like carrying excessive weights with me. In this body is encased the true meaning of micro 43

Pros: Size and weight, photo and video quality, automatic parameters, viewfinder and display, color profiles, audio, versatility, stabilization (depends)

Cons: Battery life, stabilization (depends)

Opinion: Camera advertised as a "vlog camera", it is actually a real versatile camera for anything. The videos are amazing! I bought it especially for those, both in the vlogging field and in the most professional field. Excellent management of automatic parameters to make vlogs such as autofocus and exposure. Tracking and face id work well. The photos are also really of the highest quality, both in raw and jpeg. It weighs very little and is very compact, so great on any occasion. I would almost say it is "pocket"(of course DO NOT put it in your pocket!). It has already installed high quality color profiles such as the Cinelike D and Vlog to turn in flat profile. This is really a turning point (and you avoid paying €100). Very interesting slow motion at 50fps or 100fps constant, really amazing! Really great displays and viewfinders, lots of assignable function keys and parameters that can be made visible on screen to help us in the composition. The audio of the brand new Nokia OZO system is a BOMB! You can make outdoor videos with traffic in the background without carrying an external microphone. The audio is super customizable according to needs (shooting from the front, audio-tracking, surround, front...). Stabilization is a complex point: the machine has stabilization possibly active ONLY if you use lenses with electronic triggers. If you use vintage lenses or adapted without electronic grafting, then stabilization is totally lost. When it is active it is really performing. The kit lens (the 12-32mm) is actually amazing, but in hindsight you'll find yourself tight to use only that. The battery doesn't last too long, especially if you're on set a long time. Problem that can be solved by buying other batteries (they do not cost much). The maximum ISOs I recommend are 1600 in the video and MAYBE 3200 in photos at most, but avoid because you will find yourself banging your head in post-production to eliminate noise. Like all micro 4/3 bodies it does not have great resistance to high iso, so do not push it too much and use light lenses. Versatile, comfortable and lightweight HYPER camera. This is my ultimate machine body for everything: vlogs, travel, work on set.

Pros: Small size, excellent image quality, excellent video compartment, no low pass filter.

Cons: Perhaps the price is a little too high, but it is one of a kind and batteries that are not very large but they are compatible at rock-bottom prices.

Opinion: Really remarkable machine, born for vloggers but actually churns out amazing images as well as of course videos of the highest quality. It is very small, with the kit optics it fits comfortably in your pocket, but still has good ergonomics and a good Grip. Superlative display as well as the electronic viewfinder. It is a machine that can be taken anywhere with minimal footprint and derisory weight but that guarantees high quality from all points of view, videos and photos. Very interesting the panasonic mini tripod that can be connected to the machine and allows you to start or stop video and take photos. I recommend taking the full kit with 12-32 and mini tripod. The kit optics despite having the plastic attachment has excellent optical quality, certainly among the best in its segment. A great starting point to take first pictures and shoot great videos. You can safely climb up to 3200 iso without any problems, the 6400 require some post production to be usable. Excellent jpeg, with very pleasant colors. I mean, I can't help but recommend it.
