sent on 23 Gennaio 2026 Pros: Portability Cons: Everything else Opinion: I took the machine and tested it mostly in landscape and night environment, Nothing to say about the construction, the menu done very well and the functions such as live time / live bulb / live composite are really nice. It is also fantastic to have filters, both nd and gnd, in the car. However, I immediately realized the limits of the sensor and the quality of the shots that came out that between noise and lack of detail I did not like. It will certainly be appreciated for artistic photos - macro and shots with super telephoto but as soon as you are in the presence of a difficult light condition, or if you intend to do multi exposures and / or bkt you immediately regret the ff or the apsc . Too bad because the idea of such a portable and complete camera teased me a lot but for my kind it is absolutely not to be recommended
sent on 19 Dicembre 2025 Pros: Aesthetically beautiful, pleasant to use, vast fleet of optics, large enough and light, rings that can be used with thirds of a stop Cons: Ring at the top left that was supposed to be designed for iso, viewfinder not in line with the price of the camera, too much info on the display and on the viewfinder Opinion: An "honest" camera, which does its job. Pleasant to use and very beautiful to look at. Personally I have not found discomfort in the grip as I have read on various reviews, and I use it with the 17mm f1. 2. The viewfinder is better than the om5 but they had to do something better. Still on the viewfinder and display there are too many info, it would be nice to have a full view screen with only ISO shutter speeds. Anyone who uses olympus knows what I'm talking about. The biggest own lens of this product is the lack of an iso dial. Yes ok I can put the gearbox from 1 to 2 on the lever and set an iso ring but it's bullshit. Those who produce cameras don't photograph because it's impossible to fuck up like this. To photograph you need separate physical controls for ISO times and apertures. Fuji has them but without the thirds of stop (another idiocy) at least here you don't have this constraint. However, in one way or another I use it with pleasure, the af is fine (unlike all fujifilm cameras that do not focus accurately, read on the internet af fuji issue is real follow up by wandering lesman, or do research on the internet before throwing away your money). It will not have film simulations but the color profiles are pleasant and in any case all customizable with the color wheel. Vast and quality lens park, even on zooms.
sent on 18 Ottobre 2025 Pros: Stabilization, Build quality and solid feel, Battery life Cons: For my way of photographing: "too" hybrid camera with some useless and non-customizable dials, non-existent grip and unstable grip, small and not very usable buttons (all things that one already knows before) Opinion: I bought the OM3 out of curiosity and it left me decidedly indifferent, and it doesn't fit with my way of photographing. Then it is obvious that, as with all modern cars, you take home your shots. I dedicate myself to travel and family photos, I have used a little bit of everything in recent years, maintaining a preference for Olympus products and the M4/3. I don't need any particular speed performance (no birdlife, no sport), I don't make videos, I always shoot in RAW and then have a proven workflow in Lightroom. I regularly use OM1.2 and EM5.1 together with the fixed ones that the system offers (both pro and non-pro). The OM3, while maintaining the characteristics of OM1.2, emphasizes in a marked way some aspects and functions that I do not need. The OM1.2 is much more comfortable to hold and balanced, with more naturally positioned keys to reach, a much better viewfinder (I always dial with the viewfinder), and weighs a little more. Clearly the grip makes the dimensions different, but not that much. The EM5.1 (the 5 series in general) has smaller dimensions, a grip that is not intrusive but all in all effective, and now a much lower value that allows a more serene use in risky contexts. Clearly technologically it is far behind. On the OM3 for me the Creative Control wheel is useless (I don't use Jpeg), the ring on the left shoulder to select video is useless (I don't do any), and I use very little computational functions (this is a matter related to all Olympus products). The CP button, the most convenient to reach with the thumb, is fortunately reprogrammable to your liking, the dials I mentioned are not reprogrammable. The grip without grip can be liked but it is in my opinion very uncomfortable as the camera has its own weight, and therefore in the hand it is always unbalanced, even with small and light lenses. The menu, similar to that of OM1.2, is well made and readable. It remains complex because the machine is full of functions (but this applies to all of them now). The QI is in line with other modern M4/3 machines, it is talked about everywhere, whether it can be enough depends on personal needs. In general, if you don't take advantage of the specific functions and dials, I don't recommend it.
sent on 17 Ottobre 2025 Pros: Excellent overall quality, computational functions, top stabilization, vintage look, set in a practically ready jpeg churn out mode Cons: I would have liked a few more keys, more customization of the keys and at least one more dial Opinion: I've had the car for a month, I feel great about it, I've been using m43 for 15 years now. Excellent computational functions, for example if I know that I want to crop that photo, I do it directly in high resolution, also excellent Live GND and ND filters. The ISO for me is usable up to 6400, but my photos with low light are normally static, so being able to count on the excellent stabilization, in the end I shoot the same at medium-low ISO. Another "defect" attributed to the m43 is the blurring, just take one of the many 1.4 or 1.2 objectives. It being understood that if a 12/14-35/40 came out at f/2 I would be happy and I imagine the same the other users of the system. With just 1.5 kilos I have a kit ranging from 18 to 200 corresponding, with two fixed and two zooms. The only things I would have liked different are a greater customization of the keys, maybe one or two more and the presence of one or two dials, given the vintage look. Olympus for me top
sent on 09 Ottobre 2025 Pros: It is robust, full of mechanical and computer finesse. Autofocus grade 10 (without honors). Top overall speed. Sensor with beautiful colors. Tropicalization at the top. Cons: The menu is obscure. Opinion: It is an mft so, whatever is fashionable to say that the image quality is worth the full frame (it is not made for the night ....) do not be fooled, the full frame is the full frame, nor can you console yourself with the 50 mpx for immobile subjects. It has an image quality that cannot be surpassed currently in the mft field. Impeccable construction at a negligible weight, this must be the real reason for the purchase. The stacked sensor then expresses all its speed and quality. Those who preceded me in the comments are right about one thing: once you buy this machine, the other (full frame) stays at home.
sent on 04 Maggio 2025 Pros: Robustness, top-of-the-range sensor, computational functions with GND filters, high-performance AF, design, grips and uses well (even if without grip), battery life (the same as the OM-1). Cons: Nothing, but if I had to find a defect I would say the lack of the joypad. Many complain about the low resolution of the viewfinder, on the contrary I find it very faithful and functional, so I don't consider the low resolution a defect. Opinion: I have owned the OM-1 (first version) for some time, which I consider a great camera, and I decided to add the OM-3 to my kit to make up for the small shortcomings of the OM-1, in fact the OM-3 has GND filters and a more complete and configurable AF, for the rest I think they are both mature cameras with which you always bring home the result. I consider them like Swiss army knives. The batteries are also the same and therefore the coexistence of both machines is easier. The OM-3, in my opinion, is suitable for travel and street photography but can, as I said before, be used for any photographic genre. Those who cannot bring home the result and complain about the usual limitations of the m4/3 mean that they have not understood how the system works. To close I specify that I am a former owner of the excellent z6II, in fact after a long period of coexistence with the two kits I realized in the field that the z6II always remained at home, so I decided to sell all the FF kit .... and I'm glad I did.
sent on 09 Marzo 2025 Pros: Excellent metal workmanship, from the touch you can guess the quality of the product, impeccable construction as Olympus tradition, every button and button in the right place, excellent image quality, almost like its older sister OM-1, stabilization and portability make it a high-level camera. Cons: For my use I have not found any defects, I find it very practical Opinion: Like all the latest OMSYSTEM products immediately praised then slowly more and more liked, this camera, however, is really beautiful and functional in every aspect, with its resemblance to retro and vintage cameras it is enjoying a lot of success, I have owned it for about 15 days, and I can speak of it more than well, also having the older sister OM-1 II, practically the files are identical in quality, but with OM-3 you can have fun and create jpeg images with the CP key and color profiles you can create your favorite image without having to go fiddling around on the PC. The tactile sensation it transmits is beautiful and unique, this camera winks at landscape and street photographers, I also tried it on the monopod with the 300f4 in birdlife, but I was not thrilled, in fact for this type of photo there is the OM-1. Using this OM-3 is a lot of fun, you think more about the substance of the shot as we used to do with film, taken with the 12-45f4 kit it weighs with the 750g lens so you don't realize you have it at your fingertips. The strong point remains the stacked sensor with excellent image quality, then there are the Live ND filters up to ND64, and the new Live GND much appreciated for landscape photos, obviously shooting in high resolution, with the 80MP 14-Bit tripod, 50MP freehand. For those who were finally looking for a camera with first-class quality, with reportage camera dimensions.
