sent on 08 Settembre 2024 Pros: Stylish, solid, easy, small, light. Very convenient for those who want ready-made jpgs. Cons: A somewhat cumbersome menu. Noisy already above 800. The monitors are not in 4/3 format. For those like me who have the dominant left eye not very comfortable. Opinion: Last year I switched to digital also for pleasure. I chose the PEN-F. The car is really beautiful, it immediately appears solid. Very portable, comfortable and light. He's always with me. The main advantage is that you can already set different types of presets on the machine that make very good jpgs come out. So much so that 90% of the shots remain as they come out of the car. This is not a negligible advantage for those like me who do not like to spend hours in post-production. It can be the ideal machine for those who do not disdain the 4/3 format. The thing that bothers me, however, is that the displays, both the external one and the viewfinder, are not in 4/3 format. If you shoot in this mode (and it would be the one in which the sensor was designed) you see black bars on the side with a slightly shrunken image. Tiresome. If you shoot in 3/2 everything is perfect. I won't go into the more technical aspects because I wouldn't be able to make judgments. Highly recommended. The optics are small and light. In little space and weight you can have a respectable set. It is the machine to always have with you.
sent on 31 Marzo 2024 Pros: Very robust, unique design Cons: Low quality with photos above ISO 1600. Opinion: Well built machine, I got it in 2018, I used it a lot and I felt good, it was my first experience with the Micro 4/3, used especially with third-party optics such as TT artisan. Pros: 1) very robust 2) unique and attractive design 3) with the addition of grip, you can feel the quality 4) Articulated monitor - I found it so comfortable 5) after more than 150,000 shots the dials have not lost their "resistance" Cons: 1) at 1600 iso the photos are very grainy and it's a limitation 2) the sensor is not stabilized but this was obvious - but it's not a real con. 3) In double exposure you can only take 2 photos! and the choice whether to do it on average, for lights or for shadows is not present. (this is because I work a lot with double exposures, so it's my personal note) in practice it is quite heavy although the dimensions are "semi-compact", I used it for any situation and I must say that I found it well. 4) but it's purely subjective, feeling with the machine... good but not great. Beyond the technical characteristics, I would recommend it as an "Entry level" camera (precisely because of the ISO limit). On the video side (although it can do them) I used it very little and I must say that for what I had to do (university presentations with interviews) it went luxurious. In the end I keep it as an ornament as I switched to Fuji X100VI.
sent on 17 Dicembre 2022 Pros: Beautiful with style, charm of yesteryear. Cons: I would say none, after all it's okay. Opinion: After thinking about it for a while at the end I took it back, this time black, because together with the Leica M and the Nikon DF I consider it one of the most beautiful digital cameras in circulation. The size and its portability convinced me to make a layette with the Pen F and compact optics that are comfortable, including accessories, in a Peak Design handbag as small as a baby carrier. The machine, if you like, is loved without half measures, is the right complement to more performing kits, you take it everywhere, shoots with a harmonious sound, has a lot of settings and functions that I rarely use but knowing that there are make the toy even more attractive, the files are good on most occasions, it also has the Hi-Res shot, convenient when you are not in a hurry and want to implement the image quality. On the video side I can not express myself since I do not use this department of today's cameras, as I think that a good smartphone solves the problem faster at grandma's birthday party or on a trip out of town, so much for professional videos you need something else. On balance, if I took it back, I can only be happy.
sent on 26 Ottobre 2022 Pros: Quite light, beautiful and well built, fun to use, great for street and B & W. Cons: AF sometimes dancer. Opinion: It's not a half-size camera, you either love it or hate it. Beautiful to use, it almost never disappoints and allows you to take home good photos on any occasion. The viewfinder is not huge, but the articulated monitor, which when closed "disappears" into the back of the machine, is quite defined and allows you not to do stunts in shooting. Only the autofocus sometimes disappoints, especially in low light, but otherwise nothing to say. With the right optics it becomes invisible in the street, but I also use it with the Panasonic 100-300 for small episodes in birdlife or sports. It is not very modern, it is not as performing as the OM-1 and limits and the merits of the m4/3 know them all, but with this machine the defects tend to be forgotten and a place in my bag with the older sister always finds it. The line, needless to deny it, is nothing short of fascinating, to mine I added the wooden shutter button, just to make it even more beautiful. I forgot, the small flash is aesthetically questionable, but when it serves its work it does it very well.
sent on 13 Agosto 2022 Pros: Beautiful, solid, small, excellent rings Cons: for m43 lovers none Opinion: Machine that I had for a short time, only a few months, then replaced by the fuji xpro3. The body is a masterpiece! Holding it in your hand gives you a feeling of robustness and security. All the rings rotate with a beautiful solid click without the slightest wobble. The construction is impeccable! The viewfinder a bit small and not very bright but you get used to it, nothing so dramatic. For the rest it is a fantastic car. I changed it because I could not get used to the m43 sensor, despite being an excellent sensor with excellent stabilization, even the dynamic range very good ... I didn't expect it. For work I use FF and very bright fixed optics. I thought of taking a small car to always carry around but then, even to match a 25mm f1.2pro did not trigger the spark. Also with the 25 f1.2pro it was no longer so compact... I then decided to switch to xpro3 with the 35mm f1.4
sent on 19 Gennaio 2022 Pros: All Cons: Nothing Opinion: Fantastic and beautiful car. They are right to say that it is addictive. You get used to it so much that you overlook so many small things that would have been improved such as the magnification of the viewfinder. Why nn do it like that of the panasonic g9? (But why then is it mania to make real keyholes?) Or the interspersed photos that stop at a maximum of 10... The 20 megapixels are enough and advance and the depth of field of the micro 4/3 also the quality of the optics is such as to be able to use them at t.a. The stabilizer is phenomenal, I used the 75 s 1/8 freehand and to try again with the optical aim... The 75-300 one of the most fun in my possession the small and extraordinary fixed optics. Grade 10 laude
sent on 28 Luglio 2021 Pros: Beautiful, small but solid, with a great retro charm. Cons: AF, protruding front bezel, monitor opening, delicate caseback. Opinion: After wandering through the various formats I decided to take this micro 4/3 more for its vintage beauty than for the size of the sensor format, which in the end I still consider a middle ground. The machine is performing, has a lot of functions and settings, is pleasant to hold in your hand and gives joy in shooting, the resealable and reversible display makes it possible to frame and compose the photo only from the viewfinder bringing the camera to the eye without distractions, just like with analog machines. AF not really lightning with low light, better to focus manually, the front ring protrudes perhaps a little too much and can rotate accidentally, the opening of the monitor has a small and not very easy invitation. A really negative note is the delicacy of the caseback (mine is the silver version), after mounting it only once on the stand it was scratched, nothing of that at the bottom but considering that it was like new with less than 1000 shots a little makes me turn them, so be careful!
sent on 31 Ottobre 2020 Pros: Lightness, ease of use, quality compared to price Cons: VERY slow AF in dark situations Opinion: I used this beautiful machine for two years and 60,000 shots as a newspaper photojournalist. Machine that does not excel in anything, but that as a whole is really great with good lenses. I have always had a good time with the ergonomics of the Oympus, and even with this I have nothing to complain about. The file always looks beautiful, colors always real, ability you save obrids and lights quite good. Machine that has always allowed me to take home works of good -excellent level coupled to 12/40 F 2.8, 17 1.8 and 45 1.8, a trio little expense so much yield. Machine that allowed me to shoot at conferences and 20 minutes later to be under the basket and do in 20 minutes a publicable basketball service, and then run out at night and capture some events in the dark. The only defects I found were the really slow and embarrassing AF situations of little light (so much so that you have to use it in manual fire to be able to shoot) and the wheel for changing colors in front of the finger that you can accidentally move and create problems not least.
sent on 19 Febbraio 2020 Pros: Small, handy, powerful, file management, color and b/n and above all BEAUTIFUL!!! Cons: No one, maybe some filter too... Opinion: Purchased for 2 months, in a few days became the main machine, beautiful, black, fantastic maneuver, light, produces fantastic files, I also have the M1.2, but in my opinion the Files of the Pen have something more. He's with me every day, I couldn't help it anymore... with pro optics it's a little more complicated to manage, but just get used to it... For those who love OLYMPUS, I think it's an essential object... and to think that I didn't like her exit at all...
sent on 02 Aprile 2019 Pros: Small, manageable, powerful and beautiful Cons: According to the type of machine no, if I have to give some "cons" I would have avoided all those unnecessary filters. Opinion: I State that is not the first camera I own, together with the new arrival of home Oly account on a Nikon D700 (only fixed optics) and Ricoh GR. The PenF is with me for about 15 days and I must say that, accomplice to the novelty, I'm photographing more and with satisfaction. The compactness and quality is for me high. I shoot smoothly at 2000 ISO and sincerely the files that products are beautiful. I ruled out the NR because I do not tolerate the typical effect of reduction on-camera and because printing the noise is not known as in video. What to say, I wanted it and bought it and I'm satisfied, despite a previous experience with OMD EM 10 not really finished well. So Good Olympus!
sent on 08 Marzo 2019 Pros: Vintage Aesthetics, sturdiness, practicality of transport, speed of use Cons: With the use of glasses do not always turn on the viewfinder (eyepiece) Opinion: A nice little toy to travel the world and take home wonderful shots. Relatively light body, also combined with the Zoom 12-40 f/2.8 (a bit ' chubby and heavy compared to the fixed) never annoys. If we can also put a couple of "classic" lenses in the backpack... Well... It seems to have returned to the years 80 when the 28-35-85 mm were at home, so much fun to search for the best framing and shoot. Certainly known difference between the files of the Pen F and those of the Nikon D3X, but always depends on the love that one puts us to grasp the moments that photographer. Recommended with full marks. And then the goals are found in the Web at attractive prices, considering the wonderful rendering to my way of seeing. I read that "addictive." True!
sent on 13 Febbraio 2019 Pros: High-level aesthetics and finishes, dimensions, general quality. Cons: A certain difficulty in opening the monitor (due to the absence of an invitation for the finger). For the rest, I will bring back my general impressions after having tried it for a while. Opinion: Just received (bought used on Ebay). I can't, for now, subscribe to the impressions of the other reviews (regarding handling). I will bring back as soon as possible the results of the tests of use, for now I can only say that for a long time I did not feel satisfaction in handling a new device. It's really fantastic and well finished. Notice that I come from OM-D EM-5 (Mk 1), which was already a nice car. The ECG4 is certainly very useful and for an intense use is probably better to mount it (especially if you use a bit ' heavy optics), of course that the machine is more beautiful without.
sent on 10 Agosto 2018 Pros: Aesthetics, portability, compactness, customization, stabilizer in machine, b/w files exceptional If you personalize the various monochrome profiles, viewfinder Cons: M4/3 sensor, excessive depth of field Opinion: After a year of assiduous use, I can finally say that it is not the system mirroless not to go well, but the sensor M4/3. I knew that I had not in my hands a full frame but I expected more from the M4/3 sensor both in terms of three-dimensionality and blurry aperture all open. In my opinion the unscrewing of the M4/3 sensors is to be the exact half of the full frame sensor and this creates a result for which not only the 25 mm on this sensor corresponds to the 50 mm on the full frame sensor, but a diaphragm of f 1.8 is equivalent to the same depth of camp or F 3.6 on full frame. In short, after a year I decided to return to the full frame sensor that either mirroless or reflex does not matter except for the lightness speech.
sent on 15 Marzo 2018 Pros: beautiful, not bulky, personabilizzabile in every way, for me it is worth the price that costs even if it is a car that is 2 years old, there is more of its charm, unpò retro, but with the leather back it brings me back 40 years, but technological content is really good, I can not help it Cons: as usual after 4 olympus chaotic menu, but I'm used to it, drums that you do 180 shots, but resolves with 2 patons from a few euros, delicate back (just make a rubber edge, siconsuma that changes) Opinion: accustomed to om d 10 2 is another world, very little noise, endless possibilities, bn fantastic, costs but pegs well spent, with the sigma 60 and zuizo 17 you lead very well in every situation, in a word satisfied! it is not a fx but this 20 mpx sensor makes really stabilizing miracles that shoot at half a second without moved,
sent on 11 Febbraio 2018 Pros: 20 mp sensor, possibility to use the machine totally in manual, studied ergonomics, batteries used on other Olympus machines, complete jpeg laboratory, folding screen, beautiful to die for Cons: high price, it is addictive Opinion: Machine taken for play at a black friday at a greatly reduced price, I was ready to resell it to invest in optics but then the beauty screamed from the closed box and I opened it. I slowly became familiar with this gem and the first thing that made me rejoice was to find out how in M ??it is possible to use the two ring nuts, one for diaphragms, one for the times and the third above and under exposure to manage the iso. Perfect for those who love old school. I discovered but not studied thoroughly, the enormous possibility for those who use jpeg to be able to process and sector this function. The front wheel allows you to choose preset settings (not the art but real presets such as lightroom to be clear), high-level, BN, or work on individual colors. Once you have chosen the mode you can act with a lever on various settings such as grain or high and low lights or change the intensity of the individual color. Devastating if used with specific objectives (I mean), very funny if used for play. After the period of stugod of the jewel and happy to be able to share the batteries with the omd 5 mark1 (no more mistakes choosing batteries and a unique charger) I tried on the field the little one and it started them the beautiful. I had read around that this sensor had nothing more than the previous one, but the facts dismantle this huge stupidity, or Lightroom has used all its power on this sensor by disgusting the previous one. Clean files, noise managed well, high recovery and low light excellent, in one word magnificent. I tried first at the theater, infamous test for a Pen and then in the first shooting where I forced myself to leave my FF at home. I can only say that I am astonished by the quality of the files, the naturalness of how everything was managed by this tiny sensor. I decided to sell my d700 and bet everything on this system, taking advantage of the Nikon G lenses that I used in this shoot and that gave a full manual shooting experience in the afternoon. Excellent machine not to be mistaken for a whim, small but powerful to today a purchase that will take me to changere definitely system and in full awareness.
sent on 19 Marzo 2017 Pros: Construction, quality of files, viewfinder, Cons: Af, artifacts in hi-res mode of moving subjects, the absence tropicalization. Opinion: The purchase of 929 € in kit with 17mm 1.8 has prevented me to score against in the price, otherwise you may well say that it is not a economico.rnLa body construction is at the top, just like the aesthetics making it the most eye-catching in the world of m4 / 3. Frequently using it on a tripod I preferred to provide it with its original grip (luckily found used saw the crowds of the new price) with the hooking swiss Ark, very comfortable and protective for delicate pad inferiore.rnIl body is very light, compact, and is a pleasure to hold in your hand, especially when combined with optical not too pesanti.rnLa quality of the files is exceptional when compared to the size of the sensor; interesting and useful the Hi-Res function, but works only on still subjects for creating invasive and unpleasant artifacts on anything that moves (including water). The af I seemed less than that of the em1 both in af-s (with bright lenses as the 25 1.2) that af-c, but is not a born body for the Photo-huntingOverall ica.rnVoto 9, hopefully implement a firmware to improve the Hi-Res release, it would be really useful to be able to use without this limitation.

THE MATERIALS USED ARE FIRST CHOICE, LCD TILTING VERY PRACTICAL AND VERY BRIGHT. THE FOCUS SPEED AND PRECISION, baked FILES ARE EXCELLENT, EVEN IF THE ORF (RAW) NOT BE READ TO ALL SYSTEMS. GOOD SHARPNESS UP TO 3200. MORE THAN ACCEPTABLE BUT DIFFICULT THERE IS THE NEED 'TO OVERCOME THAT LIMIT, SINCE THE PERFECT REGULATOR ON 5 AXES ALLOWS TO WORK WITH TIME LOW SENA PROBLEMS MOVED. | sent on 28 Gennaio 2017 Pros: meticulous care in design and materials, fantastic sight, full of neat and functional dials, very customizable, crazy stabilizer! Cons: And 'expensive, the image quality is very good but not comparable to a reflex course FF Opinion: Well, I do a first review on the fly, I own this room for less than a week, it was my ball, I wanted it and I got it with 17mm f1.8.rnAppena pulled out of the box, I take it in your hand and say: "my mom quality!" yes, this is state of the Pen F in the design and care of materials and this is out of the question, then I start to use it, customize it and I realize that nothing is missing, absolutely nulla.rnIl viewfinder is really beautiful, very much fluid and crisp in general is a machine that is loved for street photography, light, practical, with an AF excellent (very fast), the stabilizer 5-axis does a tremendous job! shooting in hand with times of 1 "is unheard of in other macchina.rnCosta bodies, and not a little! But it must be acknowledged that a quality never seen in every aspect and quality, s pay! IQ is very good, but it remains always a M4 / 3 sensor so you do not expect the detachment of the plans that can 'give a FF DSLR, going upISO 3200 ie beyond the noise is heard even if, thanks to the super stabilizing you can keep the ISO low and avoid mosso.rnIl My advice is try it at home first to take her there is a very particular car body, in all respects and must convince and pleasure since we are talking of almost 1,400 € (in kit with 17mm) I like very much and are extremely sodisfatto purchase. |
sent on 23 Settembre 2016 Pros: vintage appearance. Portability when compared to a full frame SLR (I have a Canon 5D mkIII). EVF fantastic and well defined. Cons: Delicate the lower body, so I decided to buy the original handle ECG4. The ring of exposure compensation is likely to be changed inadvertently, it happened to me a few times. AF-C is not as reactivity comparable to that of a reflex. Opinion: I possess an excellent kit Canon full-frame with 5DmkIII + optical zoom L series (17-40 - 24-70 f / 2,8II - 70-200 f / 4 IS) + 85 and 35 fixed and I was looking for a compact portable system you always behind without turning with the backpack to get it all back. rnHo decided, therefore, to buy a mirrorless body indirizzandomi of Olympus as it has stabilized bodies and the M4 / 3 because I wanted maximum portability and compattezza.rnInizialmente I was directed to the OM-D EM5 mkII, but I wanted something other than a-like SLR. So I decided for the new PEN F.rnSono was immediately impressed by the quality of the images that produces the sensor even at high ISO (1000-3200). To exceed the ISO 6000 the noise invalidates the definition and the general level of the picture is just sufficiente.rnNaturalmente has a different reaction time by reflex, but it is not a limit. You have to learn to handle different times and remember not to have on hand a reflex.rnL'AF-S is accurate and the coverage is almost totale.rnL'AF-C works but withtimes of mirrorless that are not those of relex. RNLA battery lasts a couple of hundreds of shots, because sometimes you get lost in the management of the machine through the menu and resource consumption in autonomia.rnLa council with the original handle, as it provides a good grip, the perfectly balance and it protects the lower body from scratches that are inevitable simply placing the machine on tavolo.rnHo preferred to use only fixed (currently shooting with 17, 45 and 75) and I must admit that these lenses are well defined.
