Pros: Versatility, lightness, ridiculous cost for what it offers, tropicalization.

Cons: Once you "understand" no cons, indeed, the only one is that you risk stopping using other lenses.

Opinion: To criticize this lens as I often see done, appealing to quality, you have to be a bit silly. It is obvious that it is not a pro lens, it is obvious that it comes out defeated against any other lens (in the range of competence of the other lenses) but heck you just have to understand what its function is! I'll just say one thing, nature or the stories to be told don't wait for you to change your goal. If something happens to you at 100 or 5 meters you risk losing at least one or worse both shots if you don't have the right lens. Clearly the price to pay is the general quality, but are we so sure? Just pass the RAW through one of the many software such as DXO Pure RAW and by magic you will see your shot sharper and less noisy. It's like looking at a photo before and after putting on glasses. Sharpness will not be an issue. You will therefore understand that in certain situations (travel, reportage, street) it is better to have this companion rather than 2/3 lenses dancing in the bag. To recap: the big pro is having a more than decent lens (all of them shot for National Geographic?) and never having to change it at least until sunset. There is no other system in the world a 24-400 equivalent (and trust me that you would complain about that too if it existed, since it would weigh at least 400 grams more, cost over 1200 euros and would not fit in your bag). Then it is light and tropicalized!! I used it on a second body for a safari, it means a finger of sand on the camera. Result? Sensor and glasses as before leaving. Trust me, you would NEVER want to have to change lenses on a safari. Last pro the price: € 500 means that you have to buy it and have it. You won't regret it. Trust. We all want Pro lenses but then you have to feel like carrying them with you even in the places, in the medina of Marrakech, in Indochina, in Caracas.. not only in Scandinavia or Tokyo. So watch out.

Pros: Long focal length and low weight

Cons: Everything else

Opinion: I bought this lens shortly after its release, thinking I had found the ultimate lens for travel. I used it for three years, trying to convince myself that all in all it could be fine, but in the end I sold it out of desperation, losing 200 euros, and I took the 12-100 Pro. Unfortunately, the image quality of this zoom is very low; I'm not talking about brightness, because that's not the problem: lack of detail, grainy images, lack of contrast, confusing and unpleasant bokeh and in the 12-50 range, where many say that it is fine like other kit lenses, it behaves equally badly, with a decent image in the center but on the edges completely blurred. If I compare it to the lumix 12-60 f3.5-5.6, it comes out destroyed. I like Olympus lenses, but this one you'd better put it out of production.

Pros: Very extended focal range, weight all in all contained and not excessive bulk

Cons: Where to start... would surely finish Penelope her canvas sooner

Opinion: Needless to waste words, better a lapidary comment: leave it alone, wait a moment if necessary but take the 12-100, another planet or at least the 14-140 Panasonic. Undoubtedly Olympus will have been moved by good intentions, but the result is certainly, to love her, reviewable. Obviously pparlo of optical quality, not comparable in the least to what good this brand offers us, even with wide excursion zoom.

Pros: weight

Cons: quality over 100 mm

Opinion: Purchased and resold again under warranty. Acceptable only up to 100 mm and, considering that Oly offers a 12/100 pro at new and used prices currently very affordable, in comparison there is no history. This judgment of mine does not derive from an occasional use, but from the observation of its obvious limitations. Even in the use for street photography, where quality is not the main element, it made me work a lot in post-production to mask its defects. Not recommended

Pros: Versatile - Crisp - tropicalized

Cons: Dark over 150 mm

Opinion: Excellent lens from stable kit. In little space and with low weight it doesn't make you want anything else. It fully reflects the micro 4/3 philosophy. Discrete construction quality, but over 140/150 mm loses quality. Great value for money. Excellent depth of field and as lens canvases it is unsurpassed if we consider the weight.

Pros: Weight

Cons: Image quality above 120 mm

Opinion: Taken mainly to use during my mountain excursions, great from 12 to 120 mm then it gets a bit lost but still enough even at over 120 mm. It is not a PRO but has tropicalization so it gains some points ! Recommended as a possible single lens avoiding unnecessary expenses for combinations such as 12-45 plus 40-150 or more.

Pros: Sharpness, chromatic yield, AF speed, tropicalized, build quality.

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: He's an excellent all-rounder for travel, you'll never have to change your lens (in my opinion, of paramount importance so as not to soil the sensor when you change lenses constantly outdoors! Fantastic the minimum focus distance of only 2 centimeters to 12 mm,ideal for macros. The build quality is solid. In short, an equivalent 24-400 in FF .
