sent on 18 Marzo 2026 Pros: Right size, maximum portability, feeling of robustness, very intuitive menu, comfortable grip as per Nikon tradition, very high-performance autofocus, memory diagram compartment not shared with the battery. Cons: Not exactly performing battery, absence of stabilization, only one memory slot. Opinion: Very successful camera. Very portable and built really well with great autofocus. Also perfect for those who want to start. I found a specimen for just over six hundred euros with very few shots and at the time purchased from the dealer in December 2025 as per the receipt: practically new! Proof of the fact that we are forced to fall back on very dated models. Only one battery slot and type of battery not very durable, but I was already aware of it before proceeding with the purchase. Had it had all these merits usually relegated to high-end models, this Nikon Z50 II we would have found it in the high-end of Nikon full frame. In the past I had fuji models that I reluctantly resold to switch to more performing models on the autofocus side. The fuji world is wonderful and the possibility of playing with film simulations with the advantage of JPEGs already beautiful and ready but if you don't give me a lightning-fast autofocus what do I do with all this? Like having a beautiful car, with beautiful colors but slow compared to the competition. And please don't tell me that this gives me more time and calm to meditate, compose and enjoy the pleasure of photography. I love to stop, compose, take my time but when I shoot please want the af to hook up right away! I don't care that I have plenty of time to try again and try again. I don't want to! But then why?, when today's technology allows me to have more performing things! Well done Nikon!
sent on 26 Febbraio 2026 Pros: Size and weight, autofocus, ISO tightness, burst Cons: Battery life, sensor not stabilized, no lock button on the ring to select the mode. Video side: 4K at 60fps only with crop, stabilization only with crop Opinion: Switching from D7500 to Z50 II I immediately appreciated its small size and weight, with the quality of the file identical if not superior (the ISO tightness is better). For my needs it is perfect, often taking the camera on mountain hikes or other outdoor activities, the combination with the kit 16-50 lens is unbeatable. The telephoto 50-250 supplied in kit is also very compact and with this lens the camera is still smaller in size, for example, than the D7500 + Tokina 11-16 2.8 combo. If you need portability, that's a lot of stuff. The construction instead gives a more entry-level feel. Given the size of the camera it can also fit, but, for example, a lock button on the ring to select the shooting mode would be appreciated, especially considering that it is quite loose and moves easily. The AF is very good and also allows you to select the subject you are photographing (people, animals, birds...), making it even faster than the automatic subject recognition mode. The battery life, on the other hand, as expected is quite poor (even considering the standards of mirrorless), better to equip yourself with a second spare battery. For non-professional use, I consider the absence of a second SD card slot to be irrelevant. Overall a great machine.
sent on 21 Febbraio 2026 Pros: Absurd file quality, ergonomics, electronics, weight Cons: AF not suitable for birdlife Opinion: I state that I come from decades of D800 D850 and Nikon 1.4 lenses, Zeiss Apo and sigma Art, and tried all the Nikon APSCs but I don't work with photography. The Z50II represents a truly epochal change of pace in my opinion as the quality of the files is exaggerated, it is literally indistinguishable in 99% of the shots from that of a modern full frame such as the Z8 or D850, they have the same pixel pitch and the sensor of the little girl is supported by respectable electronics that manage to keep the detail very high and the noise very low even at 6400 ISO, modern NR software does the rest. The fact that I then have an excellent range of lenses both Nikon and viltrox, both FX and DX, completes the picture and in terms of cost, size, weight, and optical quality for me it is Bingo. So much so that the little one together with a couple of viltrox air and some Nikon Z has completely replaced the D850 in landscape, street, portraits and macro. Obviously everything has a limit and the little girl does not have the AF of the Z8 and D850 and in birdlife she struggles and loses too many shots for the slowness with which she hooks the subjects especially in itinerant hunting between trees and bushes (obviously if you photograph the usual bird on the artificial perch on a tripod it's fine). Which is why D850 and 500pf are still preferred. For all the rest of the situations it is a very solid AF, perfect and very fast face recognition. The battery lasts for several shooting sessions, even more than 5-600 shots, if you set viewfinder priority. For light outings I use it without a shoulder strap but with the wrist strap. I also added the small rig plate which gives just 1cm more grip. Lots of customizable buttons, very easy and intuitive menu. Finally, I repeat that the RAW files it churns out are beautiful and very easy to work with, no longer having to carry around kg and kg of lenses and maintaining 98-99% of the final quality of the photo is a turning point for me (and I am obsessed with resolution and colors) Obviously in optimal conditions such as in the mountains or in places with little pollution D850 and Z8 maintain an advantage
sent on 19 Ottobre 2025 Pros: Compact, weight, buttons, responsive AF Cons: Lack of stabilization, mechanical shutter, lack of sensor protection curtain when the machine is off Opinion: Taken to have an APSC to accompany the Z8 and to be exploited for itinerant birdlife with the Nikon Z 400mm f/4.5 or the Nikon Z 600mm f/6.3 and the two Nikon Z TC 1.4 and 2.0. Tired of waiting for the heir to the legendary D500 that I had and exploited with satisfaction, looking at the characteristics of this little one I realized that, although not an heir to the D500, it had similar if not better characteristics. The burst of 11 frames per second exceeds that of the D500, the AF with its various modes and subject recognition is for me more responsive and easier to manage. The number of buttons and dials all customizable, the Nikon menus practically the same as the Z8, the tropicalization. Finally, the limited weight that with the two fixed canvases mentioned make it a killer combo for itinerant photographic hunting. In short, I am very satisfied with it and I am quickly getting the hang of it. For the battery, mainly using the viewfinder, I set the Priority settings to viewfinder 1, so that when I don't have my eye in front of the sensor the same (energy-intensive) is off: with a battery and moderate bursts of 2/3 shots, I took home more than 500 shots before a recharge, added to the time used for the settings in the menus and the predisposition of the three user banks I would say that they give me an excellent result. Having taken a second original battery, his duty will do it to my great satisfaction. I specify that the technical sheet contains errors: - Long exposure : it exists, the time is adjustable up to 9000s (15min), activating the selection from the menu - Pixel Shift : it is present (which makes me suppose that the IBIS is also present, otherwise how could it work ?). Its presence forces the use of NX Studio, but allows you to have wide-angle lenses starting from FX - Focus Staking lenses: present and adjustable exactly like on the Z8 It will remain in my kit until the presentation of a Z80 / Z500, then it will become the ML school for the granddaughter.
sent on 17 Ottobre 2025 Pros: Compactness, ergonomics, lightness, autofocus speed Cons: No IBIS, just enough battery Opinion: It's my first mirrorless, I was undecided between this one and the Nikon ZFC. I preferred it for a matter of ergonomics and grip (too bad for the absence of dedicated dials to have a retro look). The grip is well pronounced and the compactness and low weight with the kit 16-50 lens (it looks like a pancake) make me prefer it to a Full Frame camera to take on a trip. Very powerful autofocus even on moving subjects. Too bad for the lack of stabilization in the camera body (a matter of marketing) and the battery life just enough (I took 2 additional batteries especially for travel).

sent on 08 Settembre 2025 Pros: Cost, size and weight, ergonomics, AF, file quality, ISO tightness Cons: It is not stabilized, it has only one memory slot Opinion: I returned to Nikon, after so many years and at the same time that I decided to stop spending on top-of-the-line bodies and lenses. Let's say we wanted to try a sort of photographic peace of mind. So I started again from the two "entry level": the Z50 II and the Z5 II, ready to make a thousand sacrifices. Of the two, of course, I expected even less from the Z50 II. Instead, this car is surprising me more and more every day. It holds well in the hand and has many reprogrammable keys. The materials look good and in general the feeling is one of reliability. It definitely looks more like a mid level than a base. But the first real smile was snapped after trying the AF (with the 180-600), practically without having read the manual and everything set by default or by estimate. This camera has a very precise AF-S and an AF-C equal to or almost equal to much more expensive cameras I have had (A9, R5-I). The file it churns out, perhaps even at the not exasperated density of the sensor, is practically indistinguishable from that of the Z5 II. The noise from 1600 upwards changes, but very little. So little that to date I'm practically only using the Z50 II. Once to "lengthen the 600mm", once to go to the mountains lighter. I always find an excuse to prefer it, relegating the Z5II and the 24-120 to "future and different works". If this machine had the stabilized sensor and the second SD slot, it would be stratospheric for me. Certainly, it is already the best price/performance product ever had in decades of photography. Now, let's hope for some more stabilized lenses. The dedicated ones are few but surprisingly good for their price.
sent on 26 Luglio 2025 Pros: Price, autofocus, burst, effective and cheap DX lens system, 4K 50 10 bit with log, nice customization, lightness Cons: A little small for my hands Opinion: I want to be concise, I have a Leica Q3 43, a Canon R6 Mark II and out of curiosity I wanted to put this little wonder in the studio by exchanging some photographic material that I had on the shelf unused for a long time. For the price it has it is impossible to expect better, this camera unmasks the marketing games of the photographic companies, it has everything you need and it does it well, I mainly use the 50/250 which in combination is deadly for speed and quality and the 40 f2 for portraits. I also tested it in the video shooting in 10 bit tone N.log and the file is very beautiful. A bit of rolling shutter in fast movements. Passed with flying colors, a real bowler hat
sent on 21 Luglio 2025 Pros: improvements compared to the previous version that replaced Cons: viewfinder delay, spannometric battery indicator, Opinion: Surely having had the previous model, the improvement is there and it is noticeable... operating speed, MAF, ergonomics decidedly of another level. Mainly I use it in the office for dental and forensic documentation, so mainly with the macro Z50, some uncertainty with reflective subjects, such as aesthetic surfaces of disilicate or zirconia prostheses, but easily amendable using the touch function on the screen. I also took the 16/50 and the 50/250 on offer, with this set, I do not reach 2 kg and I can cover various genres of photography, with a lower expense than the body of a z5 mk2 alone.....
sent on 20 Luglio 2025 Pros: reasonable price in kit with the small 16-50; AUTOFOCUS with more effective subject recognition, not infallible of course, even in situations where the D500 went into crisis. Ergonomically I feel good but this is a personal aspect. Cons: Battery charge indicator with no remaining capacity but with the 3 ... on the last, red induces "anxiety" because if you change it immediately the overall duration becomes ridiculous while if you don't change it you risk turning off at an inopportune time. The battery life is extremely shorter than the reflex; I took 3 (EN-EL25A) more than the one equipped. I recently purchased the original MH-32 charger and this seems to have improved the life a bit. No charger in the purchase box. VIEWFINDER DISPLAY DELAY It is not a camera devoted to dynamic scenes due to the delay with which the image appears in the viewfinder which increases framing and composition errors during bursts with "narrow" subject (open discussion here: https://www.juzaphoto.com/topic2.php?l=it&t=5085804) ROLLING SHUTTER the reading time of the sensor is high and this implies the visibility of the consequent deformations; In silent mode (electronic viewfinder) this phenomenon is evident. BURST The fastest is H continuous extended but the photo taken is displayed in the viewfinder so following correctly (e.g.) a fast flight becomes almost impossible. In H mode, things improve but the delay on the viewfinder remains, which increases the inaccurate results. PLEASURE OF OBSERVATION Compared to the optical viewfinder, the naturalness of light and colors in the most beautiful moments is completely lost ... but since what matters is the result, it is an aspect that is all in all not critical. Opinion: Taken in February 2025 and used quite thoroughly for birdlife in different situations, first with FTZII with 200 500 and then with 180 600. For non-nature photos (walks, tourism etc.) at the moment I continue to use the D7200 with the 16-80 which I find more pleasant than observing the scene thanks to the optical viewfinder. I was right to take it so that I get used to ML technology which has advantages but also, at least in the price/technology range of the Z50II, negative implications. The number of photos lost due to framing errors is compensated by the greater number of photos "hooked" by the AF in complicated background situations; I find this aspect the strong point of this little one. I await without haste the heir Z90 or Z500 which will be ... if it will be! .. I hope it has adequate technology that makes the limitations found negligible or absent. Overall, the effectiveness in use is also there thanks to the 180 600 more manageable as a zoom than the 200-500.
sent on 18 Luglio 2025 Pros: Fast AF, compact, ergonomics, lightweight, customisation, video options (10-bit, N-log). Cons: Battery life and maybe the maximum shutter speed in mechanical shutter 1/4000. 1/8000 of seconds would have been ideal but that's okay. Opinion: I bought this nice little camera in addition to my beloved Nikon Z6 iii and I have to say that I use this Z50 II more for personal and family outings. The camera turns out very light with my main lens the Nikkor 12-28mm VR PZ. The files are lightweight and easily workable on lightroom. What I appreciate most is that I can customize almost any key. I also bought the Nikkor 18-140mm stabilized zoom, IL 27mm f/1.2 and 75mm f/1.2 from viltrox in low light. For the moment I am very satisfied with the results I get from this machine.
sent on 16 Maggio 2025 Pros: Responsive autofocus, compactness, ISO tightness, image quality and 'lightness' Cons: For now nothing Opinion: Good evening everyone, I state that this is my first post ever on Juza, so I apologize if I skipped some steps. I wanted to write first here, after reading the reviews, and after using the Z50II at a 3-day metal festival. In the reviews, the thing I mainly noticed is that many have written that the cons are battery life. Having never used it before, except for a test photo outside the house, before leaving for the festival I ran for cover and bought a powerbank to take with me. Result? Never used. The first day I produced 650 shots - I only lost a notch of battery. On the second and third days I took more than a thousand photos per evening... Same result: only one notch down. I state that I use the screen only if I have to change the shooting plane, so for the most part I use the viewfinder (and I feel good about it I would say), and... nothing, battery for me excellent! I haven't used the Z50II for video, but I have a GoPro for that. On the autofocus, on the other hand, we all agree: almost excellent, and as you know, at concerts the light really sucks. The rather light and excellent files to work with are a plus, although I admit that a few more megapixels would not hurt but... I have a workstation that is a few years old now, and I'm fine with that. In combination with the Z50II I used the Viltrox 75 f1.2, really good, and I had the nikkor 24mm f1.7 for wider or closer shots. What can I say, I am really satisfied with this camera, an excellent mirrorless under 1000 euros. Little expense, excellent yield.
sent on 08 Marzo 2025 Pros: Scary autofocus, image quality comparable to a d500 (which I own) Cons: Battery that does not last very long especially in slowmotion video Opinion: First experience for me in the Nikon mirrorless world, I must tell you that I didn't expect it! Nice light and with an excellent autofocus and colors, maybe the screen is not too sharp but still you can understand if the photo is out in focus or not (and there are very few blurry photos dinners) I also private some videos, both normal and slowmotion and both are well done and with excellent quality, of course the slowmotion has a small loss of quality but anyway I don't mind at all. Well made menu with lots of settings. Tested with ftz mount 1st version and my nikkor 70-200 f2.8 vrii works great (on a par with the d500 or d7500)
sent on 25 Gennaio 2025 Pros: Weight and compactness, AF, ISO tightness, light and workable files Cons: Battery. Opinion: All-rounder machine with its 21mpx does not miss anything, from the excellent iso hold to the good and workable files. The camera holds very well in the hand and Af really good with the recognition of the faces of birds, of animals that it tracks even in difficult situations (sometimes it loses but resumes immediately). Tested with the ftz ii adapter, the tamron 150 600 g2 and other nikon F mount lenses, working perfectly and with very fast af. I bought it with the small and high-performance 16 50 that allows you to always carry it around without feeling the weight. The viewfinder is excellent, not very large but very bright, moreover the adjustable display is comfortable on many occasions such as on the tripod. The always great Nikon classic menu and button customizations are another merit of the z50ii. In conclusion, if you don't have many economic resources, with a millino this camera will not disappoint you with its excellent Af, good viewfinder and a lightness to be envied .... The only drawback: buy yourself three four batteries.
sent on 05 Gennaio 2025 Pros: Compatibility, excellent files, iso tightness, animal eye recognition Cons: Battery life Opinion: I bought the Nikon Z50II, as a second body (I already have a Z9) replacing it with the Z6 II, because practicing only nature photography I am interested in animal eye tracking. I must say that he responds very well to expectations, he is not a splinter, but his job does it. The battery life is unacceptable, after 200 shots in raw it already reports the "red"! If you go on you get to 260-280 shots, but I still find it ridiculous. Sometimes 200 shots are taken in a few hours. I understand that the car costs about 1000 euros and you can buy spare batteries or attach a power bank to it, but holy god couldn't they make it cost a little more and offer a decent battery life?
sent on 21 Dicembre 2024 Pros: AF, Nikon's signature menu, clean files even at high ISO, weight and overall dimensions Cons: perhaps IBIS and a 24/26 Mpxl sensor would have made it perfect, but that's okay - dedicated DX lenses too few - battery life Opinion: after bitter disappointments regarding the recent Fuji camera bodies with uncertain and fluctuating AF, I decided to abandon the brand (too bad for the wonderful optics) and I bought the Z50 II kit with 16-50, 50-250 and I also gave myself the 180-600 and the 12-28. I went to try it in the beautiful Gran Paradiso park in search of animals unfortunately during a gloomy day. Despite the scarcity of light and therefore using high ISO up to 6400 (and beyond) the little girl responded very well by churning out clean files and adequate colors. AF not infallible, but very responsive and up to the situation thanks also to the recognition of mammals and birds. Of course I want to test it also on the landscape where Fuji excelled but for now I am very satisfied and I hope that in the future Nikon can churn out a professional APS-C body (and a few more DX lenses) so as not to make me regret my D500 too much, which however this Z50 II more than worthily supports. I reserve the right to investigate when I have had it in my hands for a little longer. For trekking photos in the high mountains, weight and dimensions are also a decisive factor, a field in which the little girl and her kit excel. Get a few extra batteries because, especially in the cold, you don't end the day... P.S. I found the LUT button for my kind of photography COMPLETELY USELESS, fortunately you can change it from the menu dedicating it to more interesting functions (for me)
sent on 12 Dicembre 2024 Pros: Improved AF, operability and ergonomics compared to the previous one. Excellent proposal for the asking price The lens system available is lightweight but very performing, excellent alternatives from Viltrox to the more than good nikon optics Cons: Nobody Opinion: I had Z50 and I now have a ZFc, the sensor is that but it's a nice apsc sensor, but with the Z50 II the system makes a big leap forward. The expeed 7, the new AF module now transversal to all models and the other functions introduced make it a small compact alternative to a FF kit. Having already a Z9 kit when you have to go light I prefer the nikon dx system. Ideal for tourism, family use and for those where a Z9 and its lenses that I use in the studio, sports, birdlife are not essential. AF has improved but not with the same percentages of on focus as what the expeed 7 can do with a stacked sensor. The operation, however, is close to that of the FF sisters of various sizes. Customizable keys complete the work. I also find the ergonomics improved. At the price proposed for me it is highly recommended
sent on 06 Dicembre 2024 Pros: It has remained small and compact .. but very fast Cons: Only the lack of stabilization but it was already announced. Opinion: Nothing new but completely new, A very apt choice of upgrade that makes it a small and compact z6III. Slightly larger, but it grips better, it has still remained small. Fully articulated and reversible screen. Everything faster. Truly complete and super-customizable menus. Suffice it to say that the brightness adjustment in the viewfinder has also been extended to + or - 5 with an additional Lo1 and Lo2 position. Expeed 7 that does its job very well. Burst shooting at up to 30fps. More powerful, complete AF with more focus points that makes it precise and almost foolproof... really amazing. Very fast charging via USB-C port, but there is no longer the charger supplied by now we have resigned ourselves. Finally all the analog controls in their place. The lifting mechanism of the Flash has also been improved, now softer and less plastic. The creative picture control, with dedicated button on the shell, then increases the fun on many occasions.. simplifying them. Only the stabilization is missing, the lack announced, and the stacked sensor. but it would have been of another price .. Since, then, it costs less than its predecessor (predecessor but not used it is cacophonous) Soon I will post some photos but we already know the quality !! NB: the camera has revitalized and enhanced the use of the albeit "poor" Nikon Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR. Who, thanks to the new features, has become an infallible sniper while maintaining the quality we already knew.
