sent on 10 Dicembre 2024 Pros: Weight, Price, Image Qualtiy Cons: Vignetting at 70mm open aperture Opinion: When someone has Nikon's holy trinity in his bag, I can only say congratulations. That's a cool set of lenses. I have weight and budget restrictions. That's why I took this lens into my consideration. I have also considered the 4/24-120 and the 2.8/24-70. I like using 85mm at f2. So the range 70-120 is not beneficial for me. The 2.8/24-70 was rated as best standard zoom across brands in Germany, but it also meets my restrictions. Finally I invested 350 EUR and bought a used 4/24-70. It was part of a kit. I guess you can find the lens profile in every software. That makes things easy. The image qualtity is good and I guess it beats some Nikon F lenses. It's nice to have it on walk. It's also nice to take it with together with other lenses. Then it covers the rest of the focal length. For example you visit Bamberg. You might pack in your bag a 18mm, 21mm and this small lens. Then you cover a lot! Same with tele primes. A 85mm and 135mm plus this small lens. The lens is simply very practical. The lens has no flaws. The 70mm are not only for portrait, but also great for landscape. The lens has its maxium edge resoltution at 70mm f11. In the end it's a question of personal taste.
sent on 02 Gennaio 2026 Pros: Good lightweight lens and very good definition. Cons: Show your side when there is little light. Opinion: I am satisfied with this lens because it is suitable for almost any shooting being a 24-70 mm. The fact that it has a maximum aperture at f4 is not a problem when there is enough light but for night photos or with low ambient light, if you don't have a flash or tripod, the performance drops and you understand that you would need to get at least 2.8 because freehand or you increase the shutter speed or you have to raise the iso and although the Z5 II is a performance camera at 64,000 ISO you can't expect a screaming definition. In my opinion, therefore, if you want a better performance for night photos, you have to think about editing something else, while confirming that with daylight it returns very well-defined photos.
sent on 28 Marzo 2025 Pros: S-series, good construction, excellent sharpness Cons: Extrudes by increasing the focal length Opinion: Lens that I bought in the kit with the Z7 II that I took advantage of the bare minimum as 90% of my shots are taken with wide angle. I took it as the only lens on my trip to Belgrade and I must say that the shots I got were to my liking. Excellent sharpness over the entire frame, small size and weight, S series. The fact that it extrudes by increasing the focal length requires a bit of attention during the shot but I didn't experience it as a big problem. It does not perform very well in photos in the absence of light. A lens that I would recommend purchased in combo with a camera body but that personally (for the type of shots) I would not take in stand-alone mode.
sent on 23 Settembre 2024 Pros: Good construction, low weight, small size, sharpness Cons: nobody Opinion: A good lens, good construction, weight and size make it an excellent travel companion, an all-rounder from 24 to 70mm focal length 4, throughout its sharp and perfect excursion. The reasonable and fair price based on the features and quality mean that we have an all-round lens, its f4 aperture throughout the focal length remains very interesting, used on many occasions it has never disappointed.
sent on 13 Luglio 2023 Pros: Sharpness (even at full aperture), MAF, silent Cons: Perhaps a little too contrasted (but nothing that can not be corrected already in the shooting phase) Opinion: The 24-70 f / 4 is definitely a lens that you can only talk about well, images at all apertures (f / 4 included) sharp without loss of detail both in the central part and at the edges, to date I have not found flare or aberrazzioni, the vignetting is almost non-existent. Fast and silent in the MAF, if it weren't for the sound of the machine you wouldn't even notice it. Darkly an all-round lens (at all focal lengths and apertures) usable and not very swallowing. If you really want to make some criticism, more than the lens should be made to "modern" photography for those who come from older stuff and is used to pass me the term to some more "defect" in the first place, softness in the first place, vignetting etc., these latest generation optics call into question many aspects learned over the years, for those who start with these systems, can not conceive the old 24-70mm af-s ED N, a 2.8 soft, a 70 in short and so on. If you want to take home the shot without fainting, or an all-rounder (which is good) absolutely recommended, if you want a nice bokeh always consiglate fixed optics rather than the older brother 2.8.
sent on 15 Ottobre 2022 Pros: Excellent sharpness of the file, low weight, good construction and I like that the lens when not used is further shortened. Cons: I took it in kit with the Z6ii and given the behavior I can not talk about cons Opinion: Taken in kit with the Z6ii.Il first comparison I made was with the D4 and 24-120 f4 that I used before and I find that the new pair has a much better yield while saving about 1kg of weight. If it had been 24-120 I probably would have preferred but I don't think I'll make the change since I'm really fine with it. I happen to go out at high altitude with the tent to photograph sunrises and sunsets and z6ii + 24-70 are a great way to make excellent shots limiting the weight to just over 1 kg
sent on 04 Febbraio 2022 Pros: Handyman, sharpness, colors Cons: Price out of kit Opinion: Kit lens with Z6II, together with the Ftz adapter. Sharpness (like all Z's), colors, compactness. It is the all-rounder lens, ideal for travel. Obviously the f 2.8 model is another thing, but also price! Now the new Z 24-120 f4 has come out, but I don't think I'll replace it (economically I would lose an enormity of money).
sent on 13 Agosto 2021 Pros: exemplary sharpness from f4 to f22, contrast, absence of aberrations, homogeneous over the entire frame Cons: not received Opinion: Perfect optics. On Z7 it shows a stunning sharpness practically homogeneous throughout the frame, excellent at f4 and very good even at f22, where the loss of sharpness, if there is one, is practically not perceptible. Excellent performance in the backlight and the absence of flare and no chromatic aberrations are perceived. If we really want to find a flaw: it would have been nice if it was a little more 'macro'. It is safe to assume that this lens was born to be used without penalty also on future 100 mpix sensors. Needless to say, a lens from grade 10 (of course, compared to its category).
sent on 05 Luglio 2021 Pros: Impeccable sharpness, but above all a light weight Cons: nobody Opinion: I purchased this lens in kit with the z6 II, to be honest I was attracted first by the 24-50 for its compactness, tried and beautiful CMQ, then slowly I began to use the 24-70, light and compact, but above all sharp, in fact the transition to ML was dictated by the need for new lightness , well the 24-70 is sharp, always, and behaves beautifully in the backlight and has no defect typical of the previous optics of equal focal length, so the promotion is concrete, but in addition it does not sin in three-dimensionality, and has a decent bokeh, the doubt arises in the comparison with the older brother of 2.8 , for now I do not put it , but it is superior, in my opinion, to 2.8 DSLR optics not so much in sharpness, but in the absolute absence of microdifetti that have gripped reflex optics. 10 and Praise
sent on 04 Luglio 2021 Pros: Weight, sharpness, size Cons: Lock lock mechanism Opinion: I had originally avoided kitting it, with the Z6/Z7-II, because I thought it was the classic "kit" lens, but after reading a lot of positive reviews, I decided to pick it up in a trusted store selling one of a kit. Purchase that left me very satisfied. The sharpness, on the Z7-II is impeccable throughout the focal excursion, so much so that I often use it also as a "portrait" lens. The Bayonet Z probably has a lot of impact, so much so that I convince myself to renew the entire kit.
sent on 26 Giugno 2021 Pros: Compact, light, very sharp Cons: Expensive for what it also offers in kits. Opinion: I bought this lens in kit with the z7ll a week ago, it's light, versatile, very sharp, but besides that I didn't find any other pros to keep it for. I'm used to it, but this view for the price it's sold for should have other-level performance. It distorts so much at 24 and 70 to align a little on 30 mm, excellent for reproductions and if used wide, but realism, microcontrast and three-dimensionality are fugitives, on z6 it makes better, on z7 returns files too "dry and flat" in fact it will immediately go on the market, much better the tammy 17/35 2.8-4 with ftz that I compared to 24 and 35mm. I know that the photos are not 100% designed but the sorceress hides there, extension of the double telescopic barrel that honestly does not give me that feeling of future reliability, better perhaps invest in the various z-fixes, or fall back on other optics with ftz Voto 4. we'll see how he behaves on 24/70 z 2.8.
sent on 19 Maggio 2021 Pros: Light, crisp, blurry good, well built Cons: maybe just the movement with the lock in the closing Opinion: I purchased this lens in Kit with the Z6 and then afifancato at Z6II. At first it would seem like an optic kit but it is much further. Very sharp at all focal points. Very compact and light. It goes perfectly with the Z and makes the pairing ergonomically very comfortable. I particularly do not like the retractable design that requires the extension for use but allows you to reduce the dimensions during transport. It has a bit of 24mm vignetting at maximum opening but can be easily corrected in post. Purchased in kit with the Z it has a very competitive real price. Highly recommended
sent on 01 Gennaio 2021 Pros: An innovative lens in some respects. Cons: After over 1 year of use nothing to obey. Opinion: I bought this lens in kit with the Z7 over 1 year ago and I am also using it on the Z6ii with satisfactory results. the 24-70 is a lens I use a lot, and when I had the REFLEX I used the Tamron 24-70 2.8, great goal, but quite heavy. With the Z sistena I am using as light lenses as possible for hand problems and therefore targets with f4 focals, such as 14-30, and 24-200. This 24-70 is light, very sharp all over the frame, coupled with the stabilizer in the car, it also allows shots with fast times, the vignetting that can be relapsed, quickly resolves into posts and honestly at the moment I do not feel the need for the 24-70 2.8 given also the price. In conclusion, I am satisfied and highly recommend its purchase.
sent on 18 Novembre 2020 Pros: very small, very light. well done, and above all very sharp. great blurry Cons: you really have to be picky to find a con against him. cmq is all plastic Opinion: a modern perspective. of what define the new standards. for people who look forward and just want performance. to have absolutely if you have a Z. only problem now (year 2020) is that entering the Z system is still quite expensive, but on the other hand it is the future. I saw night photos of a friend and they were stunning. not even weird flares on the lights.
sent on 18 Novembre 2020 Pros: Quiet, fast, light for its fabrication, crisp, weatherproof Cons: Nobody Opinion: Excellent well-built quality lens able to adapt to any occasion. If you want to photograph or film at night then maybe it's not bright. Excellent video footage and especially for me that I come from the classic SLRs and designed, super quiet and fast. No noise is noticeable when filming over continuous fire.
sent on 18 Novembre 2020 Pros: Weight, general yield, size Cons: At the moment no one Opinion: Great zoom that replaced the 24/70 AFS 2.8. I find it clear already at full opening closing a stop the performance is, for my parameters, very good, with a uniform yield at all focal points. Vignetting is present but the problem quickly resolves with any photo editing program. Fast and precise focus. Rating 9.5
sent on 15 Novembre 2020 Pros: compact, very sharp, general yield, tropicalized, AF, minimum MAF distance Cons: retail price, excursion, vignetting at 24mm Opinion: An all-rounder that honors the Z. Leggero series with a "sober" and minimal design (I really like it). Despite the fairly "plastic" construction, the overall feeling is of a "premium" product (by today's standards). Tropicalization is as good as on all Z lenses: the seals protect very well from dust and moisture. I don't particularly like the retractable design that requires extension for use, but this helps reduce clutter during transportation. Optically it's great: very sharp already at TA on the entire excursion and on the entire frame, but closing a stop you are at really excellent levels for a zoom. Excellent contrast and color rendering, almost non-existent aberrations and excellent flare resistance. On the other hand, at 24mm the vignetting is strong, but easily correctable. The bokeh, for an F4, is very pleasant. While not incorporating VR, it takes full advantage of the IBIS and the 5 stops that Nikon talks about seem to me to be true (you can see the difference compared to the lenses not stabilized on FTZ!). I do not like the electronically controlled MAF, I have assigned to the relative ring the exposure compensation function (too sensitive though). The AF is lightning fast and (of course) precise. The reduced minimum focus distance and the 0.3X playback ratio, as well as the excellent sharpness, also make it a good macro "seed". Being an F4, I would have preferred a pusher excursion (120 or at least 105mm, by the way the latter coming according to Nikon's timeline) and the Nital retail price is prohibitive (so I recommend it in kit or used). I think the F4 is fine for most uses (combined perhaps with some bright fixtures, even on FTZ). I do not recommend the FTZ + AF-S 24-70 2.8 (VR or non-VR): in addition to unsustainable dimensions, the optical yield is lower (at least that of non-VR, I tried it on my Z6). Who wants at all costs a bright all-rounder for Nikon ML, go for the fantastic (and expensive) 24-70 2.8 Z (but I, for that figure, would take these three fixed Z:20, 35, 85). Returning to the 24-70 F4 S, considering its merits (many) and defects (few), as well as versatility, it deserves a 9.5: on many Nikon Z will remain perpetually "glued".
sent on 28 Settembre 2020 Pros: Lightweight, performing Cons: Nobody Opinion: Great product, very sharp at full opening, the blurry is not excellent (it is obvious it is an F4 ) however quite pleasant, The Nikon did a good job, excellent coupled with the Z6, the version 2.8 definitely much more performing (heavy) quality factor / definitely great price, the only weak point as far as I'm concerned is "the click of ute" delaying a little operations.
sent on 07 Settembre 2020 Pros: Small and light but sturdy, excellent sharpness from f4. Cons: If you are looking for an f4, nothing relevant. Opinion: I was looking for a zoom for my Z7 that was transportable but quality, I was fully satisfied with this little toy built very well and a really high quality. The defect is the vignette, but it is also corrected manually on Lightroom. Sharp at all focal points at any diaphragm opening, it's an f4 but with the Z7's excellent stabilizer I can shoot even at 1/15 without movement. I recommend it without hesitation.

sent on 31 Luglio 2020 Pros: Compact, light and high-performance Cons: For me, no one Opinion: This optics is the only optics that I find (and not resell) in the kit purchased. It is a sharp optics at full openness to any focal point and to want to be fussy even if F4 its blurry is not excellent but still pleasant. Very light vignette all open at 24 mm but really minimal, is look for the hair in the egg. I'm honest, this optics is the only thing I'll regret when switching to Sony because I'm sure that a 24-70 F4 so light and performing will be very difficult to re-find.
sent on 31 Luglio 2020 Pros: All Cons: It's not f 2.8 Opinion: Calling it kit optics is 1 heresy. Never tried a 24-70 so performing. If you don't need your older brother, it's a lens that no Zetist can miss in your bag. Light and kited is a real best seller. Perfect x trips and hikes in the mountains. Minimum distance of exceptional maf. On other brands, the 2000 euro optics don't always manage to stand by them. X me is the first real strike made by Nikon on the Z
sent on 11 Luglio 2020 Pros: Lightweight, portable, cost, sharpness Cons: Nobody Opinion: The best 24-70 nikon. I'm an 11-year-old boy, passionate about photography. I have had this lens for 7 months together with nikon z6 and I must say that I have really become fond of it. At the presentation in Rome of the z50 I also had the opportunity to put my hand on the older brother 24-70 f 2.8 (exceptional lens but too heavy) so for a quality /price factor I chose the f/4 version. The flare is completely non-existent, the details also remain in the backlight and especially with the light in favor. Nikon with this lens has achieved a great result and the combination with the Z6 is fantastic.
sent on 11 Luglio 2020 Pros: Sharpness, focus, lightness, tropicalized Cons: Nobody! Opinion: The best 24-70 zoom ever produced, for the use I make f4 is more than fine, since I am a fan of landscape photography. For the most demanding there is version 2.8, but believe me this has nothing to envy! Great lens really beyond expectations, only mole if we want to call it so is "the ignition shot" to make it become operational and ready to use, for everything else slow from 10! Good Nikon!
sent on 29 Ottobre 2019 Pros: compactness, lightness, sharpness, silence, construction, AF Cons: Nobody Opinion: Let's start with aesthetics. Many criticize the cheap aspect, but I think that the "essential" line is a bit widespread and the trend of the moment, as far as construction is concerned nothing to say. Many do not like that S lenses should be opened before using them, but I do not find it a flaw, rather a feature. The yield is spectacular at full open, much of it from edge to edge. The focus is fast and quiet, in the videos you don't hear NIENT. The lightness and compactness make it a well-designed lens for a mirrorless where transportability must be the maximum. If I have to find a fault, I don't like the starry with the sun in the backlight, but it's cheap stuff. Double dive, the first for zooming the second is programmable. In short, to be a kit lens I would say that it is definitely a very high level, on the other hand all the native S targets are on average higher than the F. There are those who say that it is on par with 24-70 f2.8 F, but I have never tried the latter.
sent on 08 Maggio 2019 Pros: Lightness, compactness, sharpness, silence and speed AF, price in kit Cons: Remember to extend it to use it, lampshade a little hard to insert/remove, eye to the outer diameter of the filters Opinion: I am very happy with the qualities already expressed in the other reviews. Switching from D850 with 24-70/2.8 VR to Z7 with 24-70/4 changes life without sacrificing image quality, indeed has an extraordinary sharpness. Over half a kilo less and compactness to be able to go around all day in fluency and giving less in the eye. Very quiet, even for videos. Customizable dier, very interesting. The blurry species at maximum extension in TA is nice soft, pleasant (not by sacred monsters like 58/1,4 and 85/1.4 to stay in similar focals but you can not ask for it) even the blurred light points are beautiful round up to the image edge. Of course getting to 105 would be better, but so much can be cropped to the far-fetched. I have problems with a circular polarizer that is slightly "chubby" and doesn't allow me to stick the lampshade in. If I try to apply the filter after putting the lampshade I have no room for my fingers to screw the filter. So be careful of the outer diameter of the filter, try it out first. As negative notes, the construction looks plastic, I think at the slightest blow the helicoid is dislocated. It's compact when at rest, but having to extend it to make it operational is a nuisance both because there's always a message in the crosshairs to remind you that you're distracted or because at rest it doesn't allow you to set anything up.
sent on 07 Maggio 2019 Pros: Sharpness, lightness, rapidity in focus Cons: Nothing to plead Opinion: I own it from November 5, 2018 and now I can say I know him well enough. I use both Z7 and Z6. Its flaws, that is the limited focal length and the non-elevated brightness, are not really such, being characteristics already known before the purchase and functional to the lightness, compactness and sharpness of this optics. Its merits are the last features I mentioned, to which I would add a good speed in the focus. It can be used with equal satisfaction on both Z6 and Z7. Highly advisable the purchase with the kit because of the price much more affordable. In the past I had its predecessor for Nikon SLR cameras (not the VR) and the newer Tamron VC, but no doubt the 24/70 S is superior to them, especially for the edge rendition.
sent on 07 Maggio 2019 Pros: Sharpness, lightness, footprint, AF speed Cons: Maybe vignette a little too Opinion: For years I used the 24-70 2.8 reflex on my D4; Well, this new "S" optics is superior in everything. The sharpness is fantastic, as much at the center as the edges; The blur is normal. The construction appears of quality and can withstand bad weather; The initial shot of the barrel to use the machine is a mandatory step to which to make habit. Conversely, vignetting and distortion at the slightest excursion are felt, but nothing that modern software can not fix in a moment. Without maybe, the best standard zooms I've ever had in my hand.
sent on 08 Aprile 2019 Pros: Sharpness, contrast, weight and footprint Cons: No one, perhaps the little resistance to flare Opinion: The Coupling D850 + 24-70mm f/2.8 VR does not compare with this magnificent lens mounted on Z7. The sharpness is extreme, from edge to edge, the contrast is perfect and the rendition of the colors is exciting. Maybe It's thanks to some corrections imposed by the machine body on distortion and vignetting, maybe it is thanks to the 5-axis stabilization of the mirrorless, the fact is that you can not even regret the loss of a stop. The Bokeh is acceptable even though the fuzzy is not as excellent as on a fixed bright, but it is like its F/2.8 homolog F-mount. You can make a note of the low resistance to flare in the sun. The Lightness and portability of the system makes it the perfect pairing for street and travel for us ultrademanding photographers.
sent on 02 Febbraio 2019 Pros: Crisp, compact, lightweight, fast AF, weather sealed, low price Cons: Focal range not very long Opinion: One of the best standard zooms I've ever used-definitely the best from the standpoint of image quality. Also on the Nikon Z7 's 45 megapixel sensor, it's razor-sharp at all focal lengths, from corner to corner! It is also exceptionally light and compact (only 500g and nine inches from closed); The AF is fast and quiet and finally it is weather sealed, which allowed me to use it even in the rain without worries. The price around 1000 euros is really good for a view of this quality. If we really want to search for a "defect", the range of focal 24-70 in some situations is a little limiting, personally I prefer the 24-105, but taking into account all the aspects in which excels the Nikon Z 24-70mm F/4 S, I would say that he deserves the highest marks.
