sent on 02 Ottobre 2024 Pros: Crisp across the range and well contrasted Cons: practically nothing for the category Opinion: Small, handy, light and incredibly performing, a 'mature' lens that can satisfy anyone, far from the classic standard created to act as a cap. Taken by mistake (being an AF-P it is not compatible with my old APS-c of 18 years ago) I took the whim of discovering it a bit anyway and I was amazed by its performance. The funny thing is that although it was born for the DX format, it too like the previous AF-S DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 G VR, starting from the focal length of 24mm it is able to cover the FF format. So I had fun trying these lenses on the FF (D850 and Z7) on which I had already tried its predecessor. The result is more than good, first of all it is better than the previous model (which was already not bad but which shows a slightly lower contrast than the new AF-P); in the center and at maximum aperture it proves to be well sharp on all focal lengths, closing by one stop the sharpness improves especially at the edges, which at T.A. are not kneaded but still visibly drop (attention: we are talking about a DX lens tested on FF!!, and it must be said that at about 2/3 of the FF field -more or less the edges of an APS-c- the sharpness is always very good). The AF is fast and the VR is very efficient. Contrary to other opinions, for me the fact that there is a lock button is an advantage: it allows you to considerably reduce the size of the lens and then does not penalize the operating speed, because to make the framing you have to extend the lens -an operation that takes a couple of tenths of a second (the AF... in practice it is instantaneous) and to do so it is not necessary to press the button, which, instead, is essential -only- to retract the lens when not in use; Basically, the button has the sole purpose of preventing the lens from being brought below 18mm, the point beyond which it stops working/focusing. That said, I would say that this lens is a must-have for those who want to start photographing but also want the certainty of being able to get the best out of their camera. Score: a nice 9.5 well deserved -in relation to the category-
sent on 24 Maggio 2021 Pros: Sufficiently sharp (nothing phenomenal anyway), discreet and usually quiet autofocus (although I seem to have felt a slight vibration sometimes), lightness, surprising bokeh for the type of lens Cons: The A / M and VR rings are missing, but above all, THE ANNOYING LENS LOCK BUTTON (insert blasphemy at random) Opinion: Reading the reviews, I was truly amazed that no one mentioned the lens lock button thing. That is to say, before becoming ready to shoot, the lens must be put in place, by pressing the appropriate button and rotating the zoom ring from the letter "L" towards the desired focal length. Except that, to go from "L" to 18mm, it must be rotated by at least 2.5-3cm ... but who c... is it the genius at Nikon who had this brilliant idea? who?? Please give me a name. I swear to you, I will look for you. I'll find you. And you ucc--Ehrgahghmahfndms. Canon's 15-45mm EF-M wasn't so annoying to use either, when I had it. And the most annoying thing is not the fact that you have to rotate 2.5 cm, no. But the force that you have to apply to the button above and during rotation, really disproportionate for what it is. Together, however, both things will make you pull many of those blasphemies that Germano Mosconi raised. Then, why does it stick out so much when it's in place? Mah. For the rest, there is not much more to say. The lens is sharp enough at almost all focal lengths, for sure those who are beginners will have little to say and will make us decent photos. I was really surprised by the bokeh, for the kind of lens it is. I have not yet encountered the problem of chromatic aberrations and vignetting, but it will be because so far I have only used it to test the jpegs produced by my D5600, recently purchased, so I believe I will update this review in the future. I do not see, however, why a beginner should not orient himself on a 18-140mm rather, which are now less than 270 euros, especially if you buy imported.
sent on 12 Giugno 2020 Pros: AF, sharpness Cons: No one, it serves to learn Opinion: It's a kit goal, so you can't say much: the af is lightning fast, it's sharp, but I think it suffers from building variability: flares, chromatic aberrations and vignette often at any focal point, but all this corrects itself in post, so no problem, or at least for me. The real problem is that in non-optimal light conditions the contrast I find weak and the flat colors, in short, it is not exciting. On the contrary, in situations where there is a good light. But it serves to learn, it has a classic focal range, it is very light, small, lightning fast, so you always carry it behind your body! I'd still pair it back to my D5600, even though it's now taking mold, replaced by 35mm f/1.8
sent on 17 Marzo 2020 Pros: Quality, sharpness, AF speed. Cons: Nothing relevant. Opinion: Reminding us that it is still the lens from kit by definition, it is ABSOLUTELY MORE THAN VALIDO. Good sharpness and minimal chromatic aberrations, considering the type of lens. With direct light, there's not much lens flare, despite the advice to spend 10 euros and buy yourself a lampshade. The focus is simply phenomenal, quick and silent, especially compared to that of the old 18-55 AF-S.
sent on 02 Dicembre 2019 Pros: All. Cons: Lack of keys to insert manual focus and VR. Opinion: I also read negative reviews about this goal. Which I have to tell you: I'll be lucky, because of the three thousand shots I made him do he didn't patch up practically any. It focused lightning and very quiet, excellent contrast and color, no vignette, no chores and, more importantly, perfect detail. The material used is not plastic but a robust and light polycarbonate with which even formula one machines are manufactured. Bought in kit with the D3500, it frankly surprised me and quite a lot, positively. Only do you have a right then? No: it has no buttons, so for focus and VR you have to use the camera controls. Small annoyance that does not affect the quality of the result. Considering also the price and the weight, my vote can only be 10.
sent on 20 Ottobre 2019 Pros: Sharp, light, stabilized Cons: Chromatic aberrations, focal range Opinion: Sharp, fast, quiet, ultra light, very effective stabilization. The barrel distortion towards the wide-angle focals are automatically corrected, chromatic aberration (especially towards the edges) to be corrected in PP, flare almost inexistent, the real limit I find in the focal range, too normal, too limiting x my tastes, but these are personal tastes more than real flaws. Pulling the sums, considering the price, has unbeatable quality/price ratio, a best buy in practice. Today, April 2020 I update my review after a long period of use. Very relevant flaw: the white plastic cap to cover the bayonet! removing it and putting it back often scratches (the cap) internally, wearing free of the microscopic particles that go to dirty the sensor (at every lens change I was with the dirty sensor!) I solved it by changing it with the LF-4 cap. I haven't had any problems since.
sent on 07 Settembre 2019 Pros: Perfect for getting started in a kit with a camera - Lightweight, easy to use and cheap - precise autofocus, good sharpness and Cons: Pretty present chromatic aberrations - Show its limitations by going slightly out of the box and with professional purposes Opinion: As an amateur photographer and videomaker I would say that this lens is really fantastic for those who start to enter the world of digital machines. Very light, easy to use and with a good visual rendering. The maximum opening of 5.6 (4.5 only at 18mm) is certainly not suitable for many things and in scarcity of light proves its flaws, however if used in standard situations can come out so many interesting shots. The chromatic aberration is very present; although with retouching software you can eliminate it almost completely, sometimes there are still some flaws in the details. The distortion of the lens, on the other hand, is not annoying and corrects easily. Even for video recording he does very well. VR works well, even if you don't have to overdo it with movements; if we can keep the camera we manage to have fairly stable shots that can be safely adjusted in post-production. The autofocus is not noisy and always remains very precise. The focus dial is very fluid and using the manual focus is always a pleasure; Zoom is a bit stiff, so it's hard to avoid that jerky effect during videos. For the photo side I took close-ups, landscapes, moving photos during sports matches and concerts (some I put them on the juza profile): never had dissatisfaction, except for personal mistakes. Very often I did not feel the need to touch up the photos so much because both the contrast and the vividness of the colors was satisfactory. For the video side, in addition to some sporadic footage, I used it to record a couple of live music inside a club. The videos didn't come bad, however as a lens it is definitely not suitable for this purpose. Quite stable by bare hand, the 60 fps of the D3400 gave that dynamic touch, but the lack of opening made them decidedly dark and a little depreciated when I didn't have the stage lights in favor. Let's say that for simple videos in general you can settle. To date it is not better to buy it separately, but only if included with the machine body because of quality alternatives there are many. However it is a nice lens that allows you to make several nice shots and shots, a great starting point and then move on to something more expensive once you have experienced.
sent on 08 Agosto 2019 Pros: AF fast, it only comes in kit Cons: Approximate construction, shoddy materials, plastic bayonet, zoom dial that goes in jerky, short-focused chromatic aberrations, bad Autofocus in videos, very strong vignette to almost all focal and diaphragms.... I could add more but I'll stop here Opinion: Slow to say the least ridiculous! If they give it to you in kit is also fine, you can use it as a body cap machine(!). Seriously, after trying it/used for a long time to convince me that it was not really a crap, something good there is (very little). With VERY light from decent results only to 35 and up focals. For the rest it leaves a lot to be desired: Construction too light/delicate, does not absorb the natural movements of photographing and you have to constantly use VR (NOTE: in my life, 45 years of photography, I never needed the stabilizer!). Zoom inwide position (18 mm) slams into the window at the end of the race (I think put them on purpose so as not to split the mirror). The brightness is not as stated but from the measurements you can safely add a stop, it becomes a 4.5 - 8. Strong vignette.
sent on 23 Dicembre 2018 Pros: Lightness, precision and autofocus speed, price Cons: No Opinion: I bought this lens to shoot movies with my D750. It is very fast and precise in focusing and especially does not disturb the audio recording with noises. It is not very bright so it should be used with good light. It's a DX Unfortunately, I expected that other lenses also come out for FX, maybe a 24/70, but it seems to me that at the moment there is nothing on the horizon.
sent on 23 Dicembre 2018 Pros: All. Negligible cost (often now kit lens on DX machines), killer sharpness (at all openings and all mm), instantaneous and precise autofocus, so light to forget to have it in your pocket, fantastic stabilization with many sharp shots even at 1/4 and 1/5, and In addition to 55 mm (almost 85 equivalents). Amazing Bokeh for the type of lens. Cons: Nothing. It's a little "cheap" and plasticose construction like many Nikkor's, but it costs less than a dinner in a starry restaurant, so... Opinion: I found it in kit on D5600, and I was doubtful, coming from another hideous old 18-55 VR in kits on the D3200 I had until 2013 (I had the impression had failed) but I was stunned since the first release. A little killer. Light as a feather. You shoot, shoot and shoot, with 95 and over shots on 100 without errors or softness (and when there were, the fault was mine). Sharpness little distinguishable from a prime. VR at the limits of the miraculous, with the vast majority of sharp shots even at 1/5 and with success tips, obviously rarer, even to 1/3 (!). A boon to anyone who is quite allergic to tripod like me. It costs so little that even it should fall apart after three years... it rebuys without problems (I would buy it tomorrow if it broke today). Chromatic Rendering and microcontrast at par with many higher Nikkor. I updated the firmware of the D800 (did not support it) and I tried it on her too, and goes as smooth as the oil even them (from Raw, pulling up the shots at 24 mpx, go a Marvel). The vote is 10. For the value for money, it would take an 11.

sent on 12 Novembre 2018 Pros: Lightness sharpness Price Cons: No one for what it costs. Opinion: Taken in kit with D 5500by Mediaworld taking advantage of a 33% discount on the kit for my daughter. I was surprised I didn't think that such a cheap optics would be so sharp even at close range. Also proven on d500 and d810 for sheer curiosity and also here is excellent image quality. Ok It's all plastic distorts suffers from the backlight but for what it costs goes all too well rated 9.
sent on 14 Luglio 2017 Pros: Cost, weight, compactness, autofocus and sharpness Cons: No external keys, ghosting effect in some situations Opinion: I have been holding this optic for about three months, bought in kit with the D5300 and I'm more than satisfied. In fact I would have wanted to buy her big brother in Kit, that is, 18-105 but I took advantage of a strong discount in a commercial business near my home "limiting myself" to 55mm.rnE 'optics from a kit then basic optics to get started, Ranges from a lightweight wide angle to a "normal" focal point, so suitable for landscape photos, street photo and wanting to venture on some very high floor. Being a basic optician you can not ask for more for the price it is sold. Positive are certainly the price, the compactness seen as the chance to collapse it and the reduced weight. Good sharpness is offered above all if you shoot at intermediate focal lengths. Fast also autofocus, degrades slightly in low light conditions but I think it is acceptable. Negative ones are definitely the absence of external buttons for the VR which I think are comfortable. In some situations I riskA slight ghosting effect. Until now I have not seen flare or chromatic aberration.
sent on 17 Marzo 2017 Pros: The price, the stabilization, the sharpness and the absence of flare in the backlight Cons: For the ridiculous cost I would say no one Opinion: Excellent sharpness and good stabilization, has no excessive flare problems. In its category, absolutely entrylevel, it has no rivals. It's giving me a lot of satisfaction....... you can look at my gallery to get an idea of this versatile optics, which I am using in different light conditions, even in the long exposures..... for the moment I consider myself satisfied
| sent on 28 Dicembre 2016 Pros: for its price, and used on the new 5600 d is not 'just bad, even the optical stabilizer and the focus seems normally fast and precise incision good but d 5600 needs more' pepper therefore recommend a more objective ' performing. Cons: you can not 'use the d 3000 does not recognize the right lens is grafted like all the goals <nikon but does not work. Opinion: I have bought a kit with d 5600 and thought to mount it on the second body of 3000 but I got a nice rip-off and not 'compatible, the machine does not recognize it proprio.questo is not written anywhere or I missed something ? used on the d 5600 I found myself quite well. adequate stabilization for the price, making accurate and usually fast enough good fire engraving of 5600 but we must give more 'pepper because' 'is a beautiful machine, precise, fast, light, but well-made, technologically advanced and should be mounted optics more 'performance. | sent on 03 Giugno 2016 Pros: sharpness, autofocus speed, excellent focus ring Cons: structure altogether more fragile and economic VRII, the absence of external keys, overexpose highlights and above suffer much ghosting Opinion: The autofocus is very very fast, clear improvement on the VR II and the focus ring full time even excellent. rnNote less positive: in addition to an obvious problem of ghosting and overexposure of highlights, the structural design the production is even more economical than its predecessor, and if the zoom ring is slightly smoother, but the release button is really poor, as well as the new front cap 55mm. To turn off the VR and to activate the manual focus from the display must pass, with the touch of D5500 but it takes little in the other cameras is a long procedure ... for the presence of external keys better VR II, which gives even the feeling of having greater strength, better balance the dynamic range, better seal and contrast in backlit and, without much doubt, a better overall performance. |
sent on 27 Aprile 2016 Pros: Weight and dimensions, balanced as a quality and rendered, performs its work extensively. When the sleeveless lens really moves! Feather-weight. Cons: Being a basic objective, you can not expect much more. RnThe VR and MF setting from machine settings, they removed the external buttons, I found them comfortable.rnI should notice the 16mm stroke to close. Opinion: With its soft manual fire ring it is appreciated, pleasing to use. With AF fast enough and silent engine for single shots. This goal has improved video performance. Making justice to Nikon car bodies with interesting features but with the family of previous 18-55 targets were mortified in shifting fire too much compared to Canon competitors etc ... an interesting starting point. RnrnI think Nikon should provide 16-80 lens as a base kit and lower the price much !!! rnThis would be a nice endowment to indulge with full focal range for starter on apsc.rnrnAggiorn July 2017rn I added the hood that was not in I have to say that for exteriors on bright days the little nn if the hollow then so bad ..... i have a very close fnse close F6 / 8 and focus on how God commands (do not open and Shoots) gets pretty sharp .... 24 mm (eq 35mm) i like it.rnl AF and fast, over 35 dx which then begins to be a really interesting target (i do not know if i blame the macBut 35 l AF is really slow) Internal rnrnIn obviously turns out to be dark and therefore difficult but not impossible to use! RnrnThen turn with d3300 with 35 glued on and 18-55 in pocket for Grandmother ....
