Pros: Fast, Tiny, Usability on both FX and DX, bokeh, price, sharpness

Cons: Old style AF, lots of plastic, possibly lack of f22, lenshood not supplied

Opinion: For the price used you cannot get a better f1.4 Nikkor lens. The newer 'G' series no doubt better mechanically but is bigger and more expensive. Good to use manual focus, just as well as old screw-drive AF is slow and a little noisy. A bit soft at maximum aperture, though this makes good for flattering portraits. Excellent bokeh with such subjects. From f2.8 the lens is bitingly sharp with excellent contrast. The tiny size and weight allows you to put it in a pocket, so you can always have a fast lens with you. The lens also works well with an extension tube-s, allowing extreme macro, but only for subjects you can get close to. I bought a collapsible rubber Hama lenshood for 10 pounds sterling from Amazon which works well and really can help with ghosting and flare as the largish front element does catch stray light easily. Overall: A good investment as always useful and nothing to go wrong and guaranteed compatibility with all Nikon DSLRs. My score 8/10

Pros: See previous reviews

Cons: See previous reviews

Opinion: Sometimes it is said that reviews are not very useful because you can find written about everything and the exact opposite. I do not think this is the case with this objective, where opinions are confirmed, and I too find myself completely in it. It is the 50mm Nikon that I prefer, for color rendering and sense of three-dimensionality. Very resolving, aberrations reduce its sharpness to f1.4. While remaining soft, it improves to f2. In this range the blurred is very creamy ! The yield changes from f2.8 onwards where the sharpness reaches very high values. We now come to the flaws. The construction is not really impeccable. After prolonged use over the years I had to replace the focus helicoid, which I would say is quite normal. Overexposure by 1/2 stop, verified both with respect to other lenses and to external light meter. It suffers from parasitic lights in "not good" conditions, for example outdoors in the central hours with humidity and overcast sky. Rarely, even very extensive chromatic aberrations can be created. I have practically not found these phenomena on the reduced DX format, where, however, the angle of view is no longer what the lens was designed for. I found them limited in use on film, while in more cases I found them on digital FX. Anyway the hood is a good idea. Ultimately with some precautions I think it is a lens that can give excellent satisfaction and excellent value for money

Pros: Weight, size, brightness, colors.

Cons: Sharpness with open diaphragm, parasitic lights.

Opinion: Beautiful colors (almost pastel), ideal lens for those who make portraits. To keep in mind for those who want to use it outdoors suffers a lot from parasitic lights. Sharpness is lost at full aperture, to reduce this it is better to close the diaphragm. Given the size it has you will not struggle to take it with you. Keep in mind that being a fairly dated lens there is no autofocus motor in the lens, so unless you have a car with an af motor you can only use it manually.

Pros: Brightness, lightness

Cons: Heavy overexposure at least 2 stops

Opinion: A lens that you should have in your kit: affordable price, extreme lightness and small size. All combined with a typical D-series rendering, pasty, warm colors, always rich shades, deep shadows, sense of three-dimensionality. As previously written, it tends to overexpane quite clearly, at least a couple of stops which can be a problem when changing different goals in succession and speed. But the final yield is undoubtedly very good overall: decent up to f2.8 excellent from 5.6 up.

Pros: Compactness, Brightness, Great Flooring

Cons: Unclear at 1.4, mediocre; 1.8 to 2.2, acceptable-good more closed

Opinion: Recently purchased to cope with the unlighted situations. You have to prosine pp so maybe you might as well take away noise using less bright lenses. It certainly doesn't hold up very well the 36 Mpix of the D800... It should be used in an artistic way, even if FX is a bit short and if you make the very first floor you risk the noses. The fine calibration of the af takes to different values between the distance of 50-60 cm to that of 1.5-2 m (beyond it makes no sense) because it does not solve the Mpix. I do not know if on the ultra resolute reflex is to be recommended except for its extreme compactness. Unfortunately, I don't know the competitors to make comparisons. Update in progress: With a fine AF calibration I was able to achieve discrete results in terms of sharpness. 36 Mpix (see photos of the cropped cat). It begins to give me satisfaction and like me especially in the three-dimensionality that transmits the detachment of the plans. Used, certainly recommended

Pros: Blur, sharpen for me even at full aperture, price, compact, yield

Cons: If we want to look for the NIT, not considering the price, af a bit noisy and not very fast

Opinion: A lens that I recommend to everyone, very compact and excellent efficiency. As mentioned in the pros, lots of quality at a price of used really trivial for a perspective of this kind. Ideal to take with you traveling for compactness, it can get a little long for street but when used on old FF sensors from 12mpx Nikon you will struggle to take it off like so many other D series lenses. Conclusion, without many words and frills, leaving the time finding and make us lose the sense of understanding photography as an artistic form, for me is a BEST BUY.

Pros: quality / price ratio, yield

Cons: tends to overexpose at least 1/2 stop

Opinion: Purchased used in physical store at a great price. Objective practically as new. Used on my nikon d7100 I find it amazing, especially in interiors. It holds very well the 24 mpx of my car. Great for half-length portraits, not suitable due to distortion for close-ups. I also use it in landscapes. In outdoor light it tends to overexpose at least half a stop, so much so that by now imposed compensation by default. A bit 'soft to TA but very clear already at f / 1.8. My specimen did not come with the hood. I bought a non-original rubber that performs well to its function and that, contrary to the original, can be folded on the optics with a better portability. Highly recommended for those looking for a fixed 50. The used prices are very affordable and if you are lucky enough to find one in good condition it is to be taken on the fly.

Pros: f1,4, dimensions, price, strength, clarity with intermediate diaphragms, color rendering and rendering of shadows.

Cons: none relevant.

Opinion: I bought it and used it as a portrait opener for DX (D7100). in this capacity it is excellent and holds 24 mpx well. Used on the d800 loses some of his poetry but maybe it's my problem that I do not adapt to the focal length 50 mm. I still have to test it well on FX to understand its usefulness well: it would be the complement of a minimal set of 3 lenses (20 1.8 - 50 1.4 - 100 macros) but in reality I see no particular merits nor defects for which it risks becoming (for me) a really unused lens. I do not find big flaws, it is obvious that a lens f / 1.4, however, dated is soft to 1.4 with some visible aberration. just load the correction profile on lightroom (LR 7 has it incorporated) and solve the problem, Intermittal diaphragms is a blade, I would say that from f2.8 is very clear up to f8 (on DX). I have to verify it well but probably with d800 already f / 8 the diffraction could take away sharpness. It has a major advantage over AFS optics: it is small and is never a problemtake it with you. Attention, however, that at close distances with 36mpx the lens, even at 1.4 makes a lot of detail (with a shot like a portrait just looking at the pores and the imperfections of the skin are seen in a surgical way). Overall I would say excellent lens that will like on FX to all those who at the time of the film did a bit 'of everything with 50mm and DX who wants a portrait lens and short traditional canvases. The color rendering is very good, more neutral than the AFS (To understand the 35 1.8 DX is more saturated with the same picture control). Last positive note; today it is used in very good conditions at less than half the price of an AFS 1.4 which, however, does not excel in quality enough to justify the price difference with the AFS 1.8.

Pros: F. 14, color rendition closed one stop on, sharpness from F2, size and weight, starry

Cons: Coma and AC longitudinal to open diaphragms, focus ring, color rendition to TA (may not be a defect)

Opinion: I've been using this lens for a year now on DX and FX, compared to 50 1.8 D is less hard and better keeps the backlight (better anti-glare treatment), but the yield is almost similar from 1.8 onwards, so it is to be assessed if you do not need such an opening the purchase of the version 1.8 d costing less than half of the used; The colors are doughy and less contraated than the modern lenses (a TA and up to F2 some shades are slightly desaturated), while the Blur is a little more nervous and the bokeh at the edges tends to the onion effect round anyway up to F2, from F 2.2 onwards takes on hexagonal shape (The slats are not smoothed as in the G series); The lens suffers from coma and AC obvious longitudinal to TA, it improves on FF already from 1.6, while on APS-C you have to close at least F2, on both systems the best from F 2.5 to F4 with a reduction of the AC (still visible in the areas out of focus even at closed diaphragms); The csotrctive level is good but not excelled with the focus ring in the manual not very comfortable; Lens that I recommend more on FF than on APS-C (where I recommend alternatively the 50 1.8 D or 50 1.8 g); Lens to try and a little to understand especially in TA with a yield a little particular.

Pros: Color reproduction, sharpness, size

Cons: Yield at f1.4

Opinion: I've had three because of a particular focal bit (long and short indoors outdoors) cmq for me the only real cons is the total lack of sharpness at f1.4 very soft and virtually unusable, to f2 is radically transformed it acquires a sharpness that remains unchanged until f8 (varying only the blurred), very compact lightweight and well constructed high yield of usual colors of af, recommended! !!

Pros: Price of used, luminous, blurred.

Cons: Vulnerable on transverse lights.

Opinion: Beautiful bright lens, with beautiful blurry, beautiful colors, small and light. This as long as it works indoor.rnPorting it outdoors makes it a true AC catalyst, purple fringes, spherocromatisms, flare (and consequent contrasts), ghosts and sometimes some color tint. RnLean the haze from this lens Is fairly limited. From f1.4 to f2 it is unusable (except for the search for particular effects) for the limited definition. In addition to these features you need to avoid photographic disasters, it is a tool that, if used appropriately, gives great shots, with delicate and delicate shapes and a beautiful feeling of depth. It tends to overexpose a couple of thirds of stop.

Pros: Quality / price ratio; Building, Weight / minimum footprint.

Cons: AF older and hood sold separately.

Opinion: It 's my favorite optics! It is used around 200 euro (I took years ago to a shamefully low price) and offers a new optical quality that is much more expensive dream. And 'course perspective that goes well for both the FX format DX is, I use it on D90 at the time, making it an optical portrait spectacular. Do not wait to be able to afford an SLR FX to exploit even more its characteristics making it the optical Reporting by not ever detach from the stain. Coming from the zoom kit, the first click will notice sharpness and image quality from another planet. At full aperture is a bit 'soft and is objectively difficult to get a focus millimeter .. but already at f / 2.8 is a razor (see to believe: http://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?t=257771&l = en). The blur is fantastic as are the colors and the contrast: do not really need post production. The size and weight make it a view to always carry everywhere, senza seem Martians with the bazooka (when traveling in developing countries is important), the construction is solid, I will mount the metal hood of the 35mm f / 2 D .. so is proof of any urto.rnrnIl major flaw is that the AF is slower and noisier than the younger generation but is physiological given the years he has on his shoulders. For the kind of pictures that I do not find a particular problema.rnrnE 'a piece of history of Nikon and, in my opinion a "must have". If you find it in good condition and at a good price must be yours!

Pros: Small, cheap, good quality

Cons: af noisy

Opinion: I use it on my d7000 and I find it perfect for portrait f1.4/1.8 / has a blurred effect that allows no work in post-production. In addition f2.2 becomes a blade, precise and outstanding detail. as I said perhaps the only flaw (if you really want to find it) and the focus still noisy because mechanics.

Pros: Statement (more or less € 150 used), brightness, blur, sharpen.

Cons: AF inaccurate.

Opinion: It is a lens that I use on my D7000 to make portraits and macro (with extension tubes, kenko). I must say that the results are really good! At f/1.4 it is very soft (which for me is not a defect and, indeed, sometimes I find it also very nice). Visibly improved since f / 2 and the central aperture (from f/2.8 onwards) to the best of '. Too bad for the af inaccurate which makes it very difficult to use a wide open aperture! Obviously less affected by the problem by closing the diaphragm. I recommend it to all newbies like me, need a steady light: the price of 'used is very small and offers very good performance.

Pros: Small, relatively cheap, bright, good performance diaphragms power, low distortion

Cons: Very soft wide open, AF sometimes inaccurate

Opinion: I picked it up in 1996 to capture the passage of the comet Hale Bopp. It was the focal brighter than I could afford at the time. At full aperture is rather soft in the center, improves at f / 2 and becomes very good at f / 2.8, even if the best is achieved at f / 5.6. Little distortion and relatively good resistance to flare, while a f / 1.4. The focus has been shown in AF are not always accurate, but with different bodies. Not much but at f / 1.4 even an inch makes a difference. He has good size very small. The new AF-S G is a completely different music, much drier wide open, offers the same excellent prerformance intermediate diaphragms and surgical precision in focus; nowadays not much point in buying the old model, also saw its little price difference.
