sent on 07 Novembre 2024 Pros: optics that give excellent results on any sensor you put behind them. It never disappoints! Cons: not knowing its potential, it is used as a limiting one (if it is used only on aps-C sensors) Opinion: often used, repurchased 3 times (first for Nikon D2xs, then for D800, now for Lumix G9. It renders fantastically on DX and even better on FX (in the right focal lengths otherwise it would vignette). Excellent with adapter on micro 4/3 machines (I use it with great satisfaction with Lumix G9 where it is practically like having a 20-35). It holds up well against the light despite 21 years of age, excellent contrast and resolution already at TA. ... Nikon knew how to make lenses once!
sent on 27 Novembre 2021 Pros: Constant opening, construction, against light, absent vignetting Cons: Distortion, sharpness at the edges Opinion: In my opinion a really beautiful DX lens, too bad that it is not widely used and that it is only for DX cameras. The perfect wide angle for APS-C many use the tokina 11-16, or the 10-24 etc on DX. But guys this 12-24 is much better, you can find it in used at very good prices. Being out of production, new is not easier to find, in the used yes. Distortion and loss of sharpness at the edges are normal in wide angles. Backlight and vignetting managed very well.
sent on 14 Settembre 2018 Pros: Chromatic rendering, contained distortion, glare resistance, AF, constant aperture, IF (does not stretch and the front lens does not rotate), compact and light. Cons: Price of the new today, drop in sharpness at the edges at 12mm f4 (under certain conditions can be a merit), was one of the first pro Plasticoni, lack VR. Opinion: "Perfect" wide-angle zoom for focal lengths on DX. I bought it for a D200 around 2006 I think and I still have it today. I have always liked the chromatic rendition, typical of the Nikon lenses of the time that was (de Gustibus). Good sharpness even at the edges from 5.6. At 12mm f4 instead loses much detail at the edges but already at 14mm improves and at 16mm it works. However at 12 CT standing below, close, the softness at the edges becomes a value giving a pleasant sensation of bokeh like FF, depth and detachment, I keep it for this. Usually on DX I like to work TA because the PDC of the reduced format with a little ' attention allows it to the advantage of the three-dimensionality of the images. If you want you can also make the portrait set with good results. To be a wide angle pushed the distortion is really minimal. It doesn't like the filters you can do without. But where it really excels, and among the wide angle zooms is perhaps undefeated even today, it is in the resistance to flare and reflexes. For those who love backlighting is a must have. It could probably be affected by the weight of the years. I would be curious to try it on a D500. Who uses it on DX sensors around 20MPX and knows how to handle wide angles, speaks well and says it solves them but I do not venture not having tried. It also offers great satisfactions in architecture and landscape at F8/11 on D300. I don't think it makes sense to buy it again today but they find it used at very affordable prices.
sent on 21 Giugno 2015 Pros: construction, resistance to flare, speed AF Cons: decline at the edges, distortion on certain occasions Opinion: I use this lens for about two years on D7000. A lens according to me inevitable in a kit DX. I have preferred to tokina 11-16 as the resistance to flare the nikkor is much higher! Found used 700 Euro, it is almost always mounted. The sharpness of the edges is not very high and sometimes 12 to 16mm the distortion is such that they should throw away the photos. It 'a lens that must be studied and understood in order to obtain the best, definitely not for everyone.
sent on 11 Ottobre 2014 Pros: color rendering, construction, resistance to flare Cons: sharpness to 12 mm at the edges, price new samples Opinion: The use of four months on the D7000, especially for mountain landscapes. It 'compact, lightweight, well-built, a beautiful rendition with warm colors. The distortion is acceptable and imperceptible in the landscapes, of course, is most noticeable in the architecture, but in my opinion it returns pleasing shots. It lacks a bit of sharpness at the edges to 12 mm, but this also acceptable, and recoverable in PP without going overboard. More manageable 10-24 that I tried. Excellent in backlight, flare almost absent. The new price is very high, I've got it used, otherwise I would not recommend preso.rnLo
sent on 12 Agosto 2014 Pros: excellent sharpness, little distortion, light, fast autofocus Cons: currently not found Opinion: bought used recently, before I used Tamron 10-24 mm lens discreet, this is another cosa.Utilizzo on a D90, sometimes on a D300.Mi am wonderfully well, it gives me a lens that all fare.l'obiettivo I carry when I go out without equipment, gets a bit of tutto.Veramente ottimo.Consiglio purchase good quality / price ratio, used of course, the figure on the back is, in my opinion, a bit high.
sent on 17 Luglio 2014 Pros: Light weight, easy handling, high clarity, low distortion, fast autofocus, good yield cromatica.rnCon the advent of FF now these lenses are used at a very good price. Cons: At the moment I have not found. Opinion: I own this perspective alone 5 days, my opinion on the 12-24 is largely positive, I only did a few shots has a nice color rendition, given the short focal length is used well by hand in all light situations, the images are sharp and detailed, the distortion was a pleasant surprise for me as it is more than acceptable for a focal length of 18mm on fx, in any way distorts less than 20afd I own both tempo.rnQuoto from those who preceded me at the minimum focal length can not be use a 18mm with disinvoltura.rn
sent on 15 Aprile 2014 Pros: clear, excellent color rendering, silent maf Cons: price Opinion: Purchased with the uncertainty of having chosen an optic that I could perhaps do without, in addition, dear, I changed my mind immediately after the first shots. As a lover of landscapes, I can only speak well of this perspective; it makes quality images, clear and well contrasted. Excellent in the backlight where it does not suffer the suffering of flare, almost absent. Present small smudges at the corners, especially at 12mm, but find me a lens that does not. Autofocus fast and quiet, maybe if it was a bit 'brighter it would have been the best but it's more than good because a f4 fixed by its satisfactions. Excellent purchase combined with the D7100.
sent on 15 Aprile 2013 Pros: Excellent in backlight, with a beautiful starry also f11.rnLeggero and compact, it has the right extension as focal length for a zoomrnnitidezza the center always good, works well at small apertures when others suffer from wide-angle to mount più.rnPossibilità filtrirnBassa vignettaturarn Cons: @ 12 mm rubbed corners, edges and ends are distorted in a way that sometimes you have to throw the picture. Especially in the vertical, if it happens at that point a construction makes this so distorted that the photo will be ruined. Distortion correction by software is not enough in these casi.rn @ f4 is not that great, and increases its limits if it is well to 12mm as I said sopra.rnQuesti defects are more pronounced with the d7000 that with 12mpx where the least resolution leveled a bit tutto.rnDifficoltoso use it in manual focus to a metric scale in approximate indications and corta.rn Opinion: More homogeneous on 12mpx that on machines with higher pixel size, though at first I loved it now I find it less excellent, although the backlight rivals are very few still oggi.rnVà so good for landscapes (but not so much for those night) especially if we seek a compact lens, but I would use it for photos of architecture under 14 mm.rnHo tried to use it on film 35mm dia (f100) to 19 (where the vignetting is less clear) to 24mm, but it is an emergency solution and preferable to 24mm for the fall of sharpness at the edges and corners when used on a ff.rnDa purchased only used by very soppravalutato new from nikon in the price fool.
sent on 05 Marzo 2013 Pros: Focus is very quiet - and since this is a super wide angle is very limited in the excursion - to the point that I often wonder if the AF is activated or not. rnNitidezza, coloring and very little distortion (also useable with photoshop and / or lightroom) are his strengths. Flare almost completely absent, so that when intentionally I desire and seek, I struggle to get even the most extreme backlighting. rnAnche it is not cheap, the quality, especially wide open, it allows comparisons with products from other manufacturers. rnFavoloso in photos of architecture, interiors, and in all situations where the prospect (even forced) is at the service of an intensity of expression. rnAbbinato to my D800 images superlative returns. Cons: It is a lens for all. Managing a 12mm focal length on DX format - ie 18mm on FX format - does not allow indecision or errors. The minimum howler prospective is amplified to the point of making the photo unusable. rnMa is not an issue of focus, it is a matter of perspective and optics knowledge. Opinion: Bought used three years ago, not only I am satisfied and happy with what he gave me on the D300, but I am astonished that returns on the D800, which offers DX-format images from 18 megs of high quality. rnAbbinato to camera bodies so performance at very high sensitivity, I wonder if photos from the measurement of 100 x 150 FX need a fisheye eg. the 14-24mm f 2.8 I do not own and that will buy.
sent on 03 Maggio 2012 Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Color Rendering Cons: Price Opinion: The build quality is good despite the compactness. The focus is fast and accurate even in low light. It has good resistance to flare against the light and sometimes they show up. I find it very sharp and contrasted. The excursion allows to realize also images of impact thanks to the minimum distance of maf. For landscapes, interiors and architecture is fantastic
sent on 18 Gennaio 2012 Pros: Sharp, contrasty, excellent color rendering, compact, flexible zoom range. Cons: Flare in certain conditions and high price. Opinion: I tried for 7 consecutive days, and in all possible situations this light mounted on a Nikon D90. For a mid-level amateur is a real pleasure. Compact but solid construction with a petal-type hood small and not at all cumbersome. I was impressed favorably for sharpness and contrast. I immediately found pleasing colors. In practice the images made from it do not need pp. The zoom range allows you a good variety of shots and it is almost always remained attached to the machine. The autofocus is very fast and very quietly. Personally I did not feel particularly limited from maximum aperture (f / 4) given the type of lens and its predominant use. In extreme backlight conditions occurs a little 'flare. Nothing to do with what happens with the optics kit but perhaps considering the cost you would expect even better. The price one is perhaps the only real weak point (in fact I rented), however, is a lens that is not repented.
sent on 06 Novembre 2011 Pros: Compact, lightweight, good even in backlight. Cons: Brightness is not high. Opinion: Lens designed for DX format, although I also use on my D700 (FX) from 18 to 24 with good risultati.La limited brightness, however, is relative in that it is a super grandangolare.Insuperabile for landscape photography and architecture . In close-up photography seems to be the center of scena.La focus is also quiet and fast.
