sent on 16 Settembre 2024 Pros: beautiful to look at, good black and white Cons: really too many to make a list but on all the color is incredibly ugly Opinion: An embarrassing camera, I kept it for a week and resold it, I found it for a thousand euros and I let myself be tempted, don't do it if you want a sensor with a vintage flavor you can find Faveons for that price and they are light years from this one. The iso hold is more or less the same but the colors of the Faveon are just as spectacular as the black and white

sent on 12 Aprile 2024 Pros: Aesthetics, build quality, quality of the files especially in black and white. Cons: ISO sealing, mandatory use of UV/IR filters so that the black is not eggplant-colored, OBSCENE shutter click noise Opinion: When I bought it, it was the first digital Leica, and compared to other brands, it was already outdated. I had the M6 and if it hadn't been for the possibility of mounting the lenses I already had, of which I still have the 90 Elmarit, I would have chosen another brand. Anyway I kept it for a long time, it has accompanied me on many trips and every now and then I look with satisfaction at the photos I took with the M8.
sent on 11 Aprile 2024 Pros: CCD sensor absent from m9 problems, Leica feeling Cons: Technologically outdated, cumbersome use, asp-h sensor Opinion: What can I say, a camera that can make an enthusiast happy, but that I honestly wouldn't recommend. The technology is now outdated, the use is really tedious, the asp-h sensor is limiting, difficult to shoot at non-native isos. A set of limitations that honestly led me to use it little or nothing during the time I had it at home. On the one hand it has no problems of corrosion of the sensor present on the M9, so even a used one can be bought without particular fears, on the other hand it suffers from hot pixels that require a little more than an annual visit to the Leica centers for remapping (which you cannot do on your own). Just search the net for "leica m8 green pixel" to realize what I'm talking about. Summing up all this, honestly to experience the thrill of a CCD sensor I would buy a canon 5d mark 1, and I would leave this one to extreme enthusiasts who for collectors might want a specimen.
sent on 29 Aprile 2023 Pros: Kodak CCD sensor, black and white quality due to the lack of bayer filters, compactness, design. It feels like you have a film machine. price. Cons: ISO tightness, lack of Bayer filter filters (which is also a Pro) that makes the blacks purple. Missing spare parts LCD monitor. Opinion: The secular M8 in my opinion is gorgeous, compact, Kodak CCD sensor that churns out a fantastic black and white, indeed I would say poetic. Obviously for those who want to use it in color, you will have to apply a filter on the lens to prevent blacks from turning purple on some occasions. The ISO seal obviously cannot be compared to today's machines, but those who buy an M8 know what they are buying otherwise they go on something else. For me it is my jewel of the house, like having a Ferrari collector to use on special occasions, I feel like going back in time, I put it in black and white, low iso and you go to photograph. Ormani is also at great prices. I advise you to find it with a few clicks, and be careful that the screen works well, because LCD is no longer repairable.
sent on 13 Settembre 2022 Pros: CCD sensor. Body Leica m. Wonderful black and white. Cons: Too many or none if you know what you take. Not recommended for color. Noisy shot not in Leica m style. Opinion: I am an amateur photographer of a certain age. I started photographing in the early 70s and I was lucky enough to start with good Nikon F, Rolleiflex, Leica screw cameras etc. Over time, preferring travel and street photography, I opted for Leica m. All used bodies. With digital the machines I preferred were the Fuji S3 pro and S5 pro and other Fuji x for the sensor and the Leica m8. In my opinion, the Leica m8 is the most analog of the digital Leica and the least "cathodic" of the other current digital ones of various brands. After various comparisons it is the one I preferred and I still prefer today. So if one has photographed in analog and is still looking for that result with digital the Leica m8 is perfect. I take it for granted that you know the rangefinder. Black & white is very, very, very good comparable to a good development from negative, obviously also the file must be treated or in jpg properly set the machine, for the color it is better to use the appropriate filters to avoid Magenta with black or use an alternative machine - for Leica the m9 always with CCD sensor. If one wants to shoot by candlelight you can do it but perhaps better to use something else.

sent on 25 Aprile 2022 Pros: build quality, file quality, ease of use, reliability. Cons: noisy shot, nothing more Opinion: I am a possessor, very happy of a leica q2, I wanted and looked for this m8 that, on paper, should be the opposite of the q2.con the focus of the rangefinder I got used to it practically immediately, perhaps also because fortunately I still have a good view .the machine is very simple and intuitive to use, fun if we want and produces fabulous files, converted to black and white super I would say .I do not find it excessively slow I do not see all the limits that you read in reviews here on the forum.ioltre is beautiful point.strange to say but it is giving me a lot of satisfaction, almost more than q2 in some situations .the advice to those who want to take photographs thought, if you are interested in all the technological speeches that do not end more I recommend a good mobile .voto 9
sent on 14 Luglio 2021 Pros: Aesthetics, construction materials, CCD sensor, colors, file quality, ease of use Cons: Aps-H sensor, slow storage, ISO noise above 320, magenta dominant in blacks, low LCD quality Opinion: I bought an M8.2 at a really attractive price and I'm discovering it little by little. The M8.2 is the first digital M I have after having had M3 and M6 in the past. I am very satisfied with the purchase and I must say I was immediately struck by the quality of the files, especially the body and saturation of the images, never contrived and always natural. He lives, very much lives. All thanks to the CCD that I find extraordinary, I did not want to believe it. I'm dealing with the rangefinder after a long time and I must say that in addition to being very precise I also find it very funny. The return to manual focus gave me much more confidence than I thought! The cons I listed above, but nothing disabling. If you buy a car of this type today with the several years that you carry on your shoulders you are aware of its limitations. Everything is up to accepting them or not. For now I can say that its 10 mpx are amazing and I'm very pleased to be back a little' "back" instead of trudging to the continuous chase of megapixellate ...! Since I use it I have forgotten about so many "effects" and features that in reality have never seemed indispensable to me (gusts, AF tracking, live view, touch screen, mega pixel, stabilization, film simulation, GPS, wi-fi, etc.) The essential, the necessary, period. No time wasters. You can also leave the manual in the drawer. What you need is all there, some side buttons and the rangefinder. The rest is experienced in the field, with their own photographic knowledge and skills.
sent on 30 Agosto 2020 Pros: The M8 is the only M to have the ability to shoot at 1/8000. Kodak CCD sensor. Wonderful basic iso color rendering. It's an M in all. Cons: Crop factor, noisy shot, approximate frames. Opinion: I've been shooting with the M system for several years and I'm in love with it. Those who know the Leica rangefinder and have experienced it can understand what are the advantages of shooting with such a seemingly antiquated machine. I took this used machine at 1040€ on ebay with 2 batteries case and filter. The machine is really great, I just had to clean up the sensor which was dusty. I'm using it without uv/ir cut flitro and so far I haven't had a problem. Some black polyester fabrics are purple, just a post correction at the limit. For now I've only used it at 160iso and I feel good like that. I really wanted it to use it outdoors in full light. The colors of the ccd are really beautiful. When you view the raw it feels like you see a scan of a slide, it makes a really nice effect, it has an impressive cleanliness in detail, the cmos is much more digital. An abysmal difference, I didn't really believe until I saw it. Certainly with the D850 recovery 4 stops in post and with this at most one. Very saturated and sharp colors. I never use it for the BN but those few times from great satisfaction. I recommend this machine hotly, the 10mpx are exploited to the fullest and are fine for almost everything except for huge prints or forced crop. It is a machine full of limits but it is precisely these limits that foster creativity. I think it's a perfect car for anyone who wants to shoot with an M without spending a fortune. I mainly use it with a 35mm Zeiss Biogon f/2 which becomes almost a 50. To make the calculation of the focal point you have to multiply by 1.33. It is an M in all things, with some youthful ness that must be managed and that makes it even more unique.
sent on 24 Aprile 2020 Pros: Magic sensor, colors, construction, ergonomics, solidity, croped sensor that eliminates any imperfections at the edges of the lenses. Cons: Iso up to 640 usable, but once this is taken into account no one. Opinion: I bought it for the second time (this time the 8.2) in 2020. People don't let you be fooled by these cell cells that sell you today, this machine is STUPENDA even today. Take two shots in the studio at 160 iso and 10Mp the image is more defined and three-dimensional than on my A7iii, if you don't believe it try it too. Once mounted its filter churns out colors directly from the beautiful raw, lightweight files from 10mp printable quietly up to A3, super black and white where you recover improbable shadows and ringing lights, needs beautiful lenses to attach to us, a nice 28 elmarit or a 35 summicron, but it repays you with gorgeous images. We have asked the houses in every way to take pictures of 50000 iso and we have killed the CCD, almost the desire to take another one if this at some point stops, unfortunately the M9 has the problem of sensor corrosion, this one instead does not.

sent on 27 Maggio 2016 Pros: The CCD magical images almost in relief, holding it in good hands, 1/8000 by 'chance' of taking a fully open aperture, with UV / IR filter corrects a few dominant species indoors magenta and black with plastic. Cons: High ISO must "seek", a place where there a semblance, light, otherwise you stop around 1000 but also beyond the noise and 'similar to the maximum tiratarnal film. Those who are for other defects for a Leica User and 'simplification of taking pictures, the essentiality in shooting. Find gusts hyper fast, batteries that last for thousands of shots, millemila iso, a machine that alone photographer, will be disappointed. Leica This is for people who want to have total control of the vehicle. The rangefinder is pure enjoyment. With such a machine back the urge to photograph for the simple sake of it. If one side loses the FF, which is very unusual in that as the format was invented by Leica, the other probably find ourselves the analog digital company. It is essential, brutally essential, some would say Spartan. It is solid, has a weight that the scale very well with any optical so there shots even at 1/15 of a second without blur. It has no function keys: the ISO is 160, 320, 640, 1250 and 2500. Simply, there is no other. Set to start then do not change, just as was the sensitive film: this thing is wonderful.Where other machines I shot at 2500 ISO with M8 do not pass the 320 ... how is it possible ?? You learn to make good use of the ambient light. Why take pictures means "writing with light" and work at ambient light does not mean looking up iso. You learn to photograph and there is no longer any limit. The M8 CCD sensor returns still images, in 2016, a unique grace. A low ISO is crazy, raising them you can use it easily even at 2500 ISO with no problem (who says otherwise should learn how to properly expose) because the noise is identical to the grain of a tri-x 400 pulled to 1600 and developed well. The detail is everything. Great to have 10 MB file that does not fill you the hd in the space of one day. Also shooting with Fujifilm, which weighs a raw beauty of 40mb for 16mpx ... I 10Mpx the M8 are naturally perfect for everything ... maybe a little 'Pochini for those who post on Facebook or ... 500px: DrnLa M8 has a very thin ultraviolet filter and this leads to a slight magenta cast. The colori are warm, enveloping, autumn, white and black turns into a thousand shades of gray. Combined at the Kodak CCD and little optical contrast that can be mounted bring the M8 to have a dynamic range is difficult to reach from any of the latest generation FF. The files are full, loads of detail, thanks to the dedicated optical park and formed by the top of the top: top Leica, Zeiss and Voigtlander. The Zeiss are those for Leica M, not those af products in recent years which have lost 70% of optical character ... Even the cheapest glass is still something that any user would not even know reflex imagine. This is a fact. rnOltre the loss of the traditional 35mm camera "Leica", the shutter is quite noisy. Paradox of paradoxes for a Leica. In compensation is the only all those produced for 50 years until now to have the ability to take to 1/8000 of a second. rnIl display is essential, and this is wonderful: I could take no more and ugrave; labyrinthine menu where you found everything and more apart from what you need to photograph. No video (Thank God !!!), nothing effettazzi from Instagram or anything. With the M8 we photographers, we do not do altro.rnIn an age where everyone take pictures but few photography, the Leica M8 is a magical tool. That of M8 - and this applies to almost all Leica - is a brooding photograph, made of long took a deep breath, silences, arguments, of neurons that work and work. but every Leica can also become a real lightning war if used well. It is a pure and true means of expression.

sent on 28 Agosto 2015 Pros: Construction, cost of the used, quality of the files (especially in the B / N) Cons: Irriparabilità display, crop factor, weight, high ISO, approximation of the Frames, color rendering without filters. Opinion: The first digital Leica M camera is not free from defects, but if you know them in advance and they will accept, is able to give great satisfaction, if only for the chance to enter the world of Leica cost accessible to all ( It is around 1000-1300 EUR and can be used with optical economic as Voigtlander). RNLA construction is more solid than you can imagine and this is reflected on a substantial weight when compared to body size. RNI DNG files (raw) are something wonderful and if converted into b / n give details impressive, with a readability it surpassed only by those of Monochrome, but has many other figures in the used market and does not allow the color production. The color rendering the M8 should be associated with UV / IR filters to be mounted on each goal, penalty effect of the now famous "black eggplant". rnEssendo an APS-H is a crop factor of 1.33 which, while it eliminates the edges (the softerin a picture), determines a "castraure" of the fantastic lenses M. The yield at high ISO is not that great, but we're talking about a body of 2006 and I do not think that other brands did much better in those years. The calibration of the Frames rangefinder was made at the minimum distance of focus of 0.7 meters (choice least questionable); This causes a portion of the screen only when you focheggia wider radius (must make us the eye) .rnAlcuni M8 defects have been corrected in the M8.2 which presents Frames calibrated to 2m, one click quieter and a glass display significantly more resistente.rnrnHo left for last the real sword of Damocles of the M8 / 8.2 ie NOT repairability 'display; in Leica they have no more spare parts, and therefore, in case of failure, the machine can only be used as a partial compensation for the purchase of a new Leica M.

Opinion: A lady car, which despite its 8 years he has also always something to prove. The next to the noble XPro1, I can safely coexist given their ability 'and their limiti.rnM8 mainly used for B & W and color fuji and resistance at high iso, with the great advantage of being able to exploit the usual thanks to optical adapter ring. |
