Pros: Great sharpness even at the edges, absence of distortion, build quality, autofocus.

Cons: nobody.

Opinion: the 28mm. It has always been my favorite wide-angle. I like its angle of view similar to the human field of view that naturally reproduces the expansion of space and depth. Years ago I bought the Fuji 18 f2, small, light and very beautiful with its metal hood, thus completing the triad: 60 f 2.4 - 35 f 1.4 -18 f2. But the latter has never completely convinced me. So I sold it and got the 18 f1.4. After two years of use I am very satisfied with its performance. It is an excellent lens. Great sharpness even at the extreme edges and absence of distortion, fundamental characteristics for a wide angle. Absence of chromatic aberrations and great build quality, metal can be felt all over. The autofocus is very fast and precise, nice color reproduction. I use it mainly with the XT5 and sometimes even with the XT2 which with this lens becomes amazing. As a lover of fixed in my outings I like to combine it with the 35 f 1.4 and the results are always excellent. Of course it is expensive, a bit large and heavy compared to the 18 f2 but it balances well and considering the large aperture, performance and build quality the cost is adequate. A recommended lens.

Pros: Aperture, sharpness, lightning-fast af

Cons: Greatness perhaps? For what it offers there is

Opinion: I start from the focal point. It is my second most used focal length, along with the 50mm equiv. I loved and hated the 18mm F2. I was hoping for a remake of the f2, but this one came out. At first I was skeptical about size, but the more I looked at reviews the more I convinced myself to sacrifice portability for what it offers. And I did well! In spite of what it offers it is not so big, or at least it has a construction that makes it space-saving. It's certainly heavy, compared to a pancake optics like your little brother, but not so heavy that you can leave it at home. And I'm little. It is sharp, fast, surgical and has a spectacular yield. It has its own character, crunchy but a progressiveness of the blurred that lacks for example the walkaround optics I had, the 23 f2. It's not just the amount of blurry (more in this, obv) but the quality. I use it with an X-Pro3 that has no OVF 28mm equiv frames, not bad. I got used to it with the 18 f2, with this I worried one thing. How much it interfered in the ovf. Since I always use the window at the bottom right I'm getting used to this BUT without standard hood. Already that for my taste hinders too much, I do not know how the experience with the square light parlaluce but I do not think it changes much. It remains that it can be used perfectly without parlaluce, if you want to use the ovf of the xpro3. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. It's hard to detach it

Pros: Excellent, from many points of view. Sweet spot (best focus), f/2.8, 94 lp/mm, MTF = 0.5. I think it's the best of Fuji.

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: Fujinon XF 18 mm f/1.4 R LM WR: built in 2021, modern design. Compact (68.8mm x 75.6mm) and medium weight (370 gr). Filter diameter ø58mm AF excellent, fast and quiet. On X-T3, freehand, it is better to shoot with times less than 1/54 of s On X-T4, freehand, no shake problem. In the best focus, sharpness (MTF) excellent at full aperture (f / 1.4) and remarkable, about 0.48 at f / 16 even for high spatial frequencies (45 lp / mm). At the edge of depth of field, absolute sharpness with respect to full aperture (f/1.4) and up to f/16 for moderate-low spatial frequencies (15 lp/mm). For high spatial frequencies (45 lp/mm), at the edge of depth of field sharpness (MTF > 0.4) well above the limit of acceptability from full aperture (f/1.4) up to f/16. Sweet spot (best focus), f/2.8, 94 lp/mm, MTF = 0.5. Up to the frequency of 45 lp / mm is never penalized by the resolution of the sensor of the X-T3 or X-T4, that is, for any aperture, the MTF of the lens in the best focus is always lower than that offered by the sensor at the same spatial frequency. The MTF of the X-T4 sensor, evaluated at the spatial frequencies that experimentally characterize the isoMTF = 0.5 of the lens, is not always larger than 0.5. In fact, for apertures from 1.4 up to f/5.6 the MTF of the lens is greater than the related MTF of the X-T4. I think this is one of the reasons why Fujifilm recommends this lens for X-H2 or X-T5 cameras.

Pros: Quick focus, detail and a thousand other things

Cons: I would say nothing for what it offers

Opinion: fabulous optics, once mounted you do not detach it anymore because you really do everything. Fujifilm always keeps the quality of its lenses high, especially the fixed focal lengths, and every time it realizes new projects or updates existing ones, it always borders on excellence. Let's say that by buying this lens you can be satisfied for years

Pros: If perfection exists, here we are close

Cons: For me nothing

Opinion: Optics to say the least extraordinary, there are no optics that have the same focal length, so comparisons would be inappropriate. If you want it would be the 16 F 1.4, which although it is a great goal, the 18 with two gears more. Sharpness all open (in the center) is amazing, but even in the corners considering the aperture at f 1.4, it is really remarkable. Tested on the XH2-S AF very fast and quiet. To keep it short we say that the " defects " of the 16 here are practically gone P.S. For the price speech, it is true the figure is important, but I think that for this lens it is worth making a sacrifice

Pros: Construction, AF, 1.4 aperture, WR, quiet.

Cons: Cost

Opinion: A 27/28 equivalent on FF is in my opinion the best wide-angle compromise you can have. This lens has everything to put itself at the top of Fuji optics. I use it on E4 and T3 and in both cases it is very fast, silent and focuses in the "dark" with its 1.4 aperture. Of course the cost that touches the thousand euros is high but as we now know the quality you pay dearly. From many parts we read that it is cold, analytical and does not have the magic of others ... try it and you will not regret it. I definitely recommend buying if you need.

Pros: Construction, mechanics, AF, WR, full aperture yield, minimum distance.

Cons: ?.

Opinion: Arrived Saturday tests done. I could not say this time on this point of view the weak points, perhaps the full-aperture angles and a certain vignetting but it is not possible to have all the reason for the center at f1.4/2.0 really a blade. Done a can of test between the zoom 16-55 and the new 18 1.4 Fuji same apertures and times with tripod long and close distances but the advantages of the 18 1.4 are minimal and only visible at the corners at very strong magnifications will perhaps have a slightly less nervous bokeh. A lens that in my opinion only sense if used at full aperture otherwise preferable the zoom 16-55 or other fixed lenses does the same job. Pros: Surely the very high performance AF very fast precise and silent, WR dust seals, construction with perfect rings really nice to hold it in your hand, really remarkable yield at full aperture, absence of chromatic aberrations. Cons: perhaps a slight vignetattura and angles at maximum opening too much difference between center and edges but certainly it was not possible to do different impossible to have center and edges with very high sharpness. Perhaps not right to make a comparison with the 16 1.4 but I find the behavior of the 18 1.4 different than at a center with a very high opening but at the expense of the corners, while the 16 1.4 the angles seem slightly better but perhaps less the difference between center and corners. Attention the sharpness yield at f1.4/2.0/2.8 in the center is also scary excellent behavior over long distance where it gains at the corners compared to other Fuji optics. You have to be careful when changing optics for the back lens reason. Also note slightly cold shade nothing dramatic. However, a record lens with full aperture and focus close to 20 cm, to buy only if you use those apertures f1.4 / 2.0 / 2.8 otherwise I think wasted as optics. Ok this morning many other tests against professional zoom lenses the 18 1.4 at the corners always remains superior with details to any aperture. Note: At full opening already excellent but already at f2.0 the very high level and also improves a lot the vignetting. Also noticed by moving the optics internal movements of the lenses a cloc noise. interesting if put on the camera body and activated the internal movements practically at zero no noise I would say excellent behavior. I don't make videos but definitely great for the latest generation of AF. In my opinion a very special luxury optics when there is no freehand light. The first time that on a Fuji lens I can not find a weak point on this optics even the hood mount improved the mechanics only perfection.

Pros: Focal length, sharpness, minimum focus distance construction

Cons: If you know what you buy no

Opinion: Of the truth... You're looking at the review to decide if it's best to change the 16mm with this... So first of all they are two completely different focal points, one more for landscape and the other more for reportage but if you have a limited budget like me you can do anything with both. Otherwise it's superior in everything (and I believe you 10 years apart would be obscene if it wasn't) Crispness, blurry, contrast and fabulous mini contrast. On the X-Pro3 it's really good for us, for me the 16th is a bit big. If you associate us with the Across simulation you will often have a virtually finished file. And it's not a phrase said for no reason... Lampshed too modern but that tastes... It's a difficult focal point. Don't think about going over there shooting 1.4 so it's all blurry... The composition remains ESSENTIAL!!! In the end the 16th was already great, this was improved in all the existing features... I have decided to replace the 16th but when I have more money I will definitely take it back!
