sent on 24 Gennaio 2020 Pros: WR, small size, good build, good AF speed Cons: distortion, distortion, DISTORTION, dark, dark, dark Opinion: Have tested the lens and may eventually buy it when Fuji offers a good discount (regular price here is a RIDICULOUS EUR 400 !!!). I can say I like almost everything on this lens. BUT. This lens distortion of RAW files is HUGE - feels like a prehistoric compared to modern Canon, Nikon or Sony lenses! And compared to Fuji 1.4 own lens (which is stellar) this one is absolutely horrible. And when you let the camera correct this HUGE curvature, the corners become useless ... ;-( So, in summary, this lens is useless for landscapes but good for street and general use. I think I will buy it when I get a s/h one or when Fuji discounts it to a more realistic 250-300 EUR.
sent on 14 Giugno 2025 Pros: Lightness, cost, overall quality construction, AF speed, sharpness. Cons: With APSC you have to understand that diffraction comes before F/16 in certain lenses. However, it does not affect the use. Opinion: A best-buy from Fuji at the time cost so little that I bought it new on Amazon. I gave myself a gift, it is the perfect wide-angle lens for a number of things: focal length equivalent to the 24mm FF lends itself to interior and landscape photos, to reportage photos, to portraits set in narrow places. The maximum brightness 2.8 is a reason for considerable discord, but if you think about the size it doesn't matter to have an extra aperture that I would rarely use, otherwise I would have taken the older brother. I think the field framed is slightly more than the license plate, you can see it from the RAF. Yes, the performance worsens after f/11, but it's already a good ride, like most Fuji lenses you look the nitty-gritty, they are beautiful lenses, moreover tropicalized, perfect to take to the beach without fear of ruining it, and if it were it is a low investment to risk, I always take it with me on trips.
sent on 07 Marzo 2023 Pros: Compact, lightweight, very solid, price Cons: A few too many distortions at the edges compared to the big brother 1.4 Opinion: I have been using it for a while, especially combined with the X-E4, a perfect combination for compactness and quality. Focal very fun to use in street, to keep in your pocket coupled with a 35. Obvious defects none, the optics would be worth a total of 8, but thanks to the price it deserves in my opinion the 9. I also own the 1.4, which for image quality and overall rendering is on another level, but also bulk and cost are.
sent on 18 Febbraio 2023 Pros: Value for money - compactness -WR - yield Cons: Some distortion Opinion: Lens small, compact, robust, pleasant to handle. Fluid bezel . Another little gem of Fuji with a low cost. I often use it for landscapes and it never disappoints me, also used for street, but in this case I prefer the 35mm. Some small flaws, but in general I am very satisfied with this lens, especially for the cost
sent on 27 Gennaio 2023 Pros: WR, value for money, weight and dimensions Cons: Stuck at FW 1.0, to date it does not appear in the list of XF lenses Opinion: Good lens, although not too bright. In my case it is coupled with a Pro-1 and it does very well, especially in the street where the weight and size of the whole make the difference. The construction looks solid but the manual focus ring is a little small and uncomfortable. The autofocus is quite fast and, at least in my specimen, precise. The WR is a plus and if you find it used it becomes really interesting. In short, a good fixed lens for use "on the fly".
sent on 06 Agosto 2022 Pros: Sharpness, compactness, tropicalization, general yield Cons: TA at 2.8 (not high brightness) Opinion: Bought as a landscape lens to mount on the XT2, a great purchase for traveling or for photographic excursions given the compactness and ergonomics (even of the hood). The focal length on FF is equivalent to 24mm and allows you to have a very good yield having a good control over the distortion of the image. It has an excellent value for money, tested in different situations: the optimal yield reaches it around f 4/5.6, it is a must have in my opinion for the price despite maybe you already have the lens in kit.

sent on 23 Dicembre 2021 Pros: Sharp at TA , quite correct in distortion , fast af , light , tropicalized , great for video on 5-axis IBIS . Cons: For those like me who are used to manual lenses, the focus ring when looking for infinity. Opinion: Excellent lens with the best value for money in its category, as soon as I have the chance I will take the lowa zero-d 9 mm , because the focus ring when you go to infinity is not easy to manage in manual , while in the lenses born for this purpose everything is simpler . That said, this lens has so many pros that it is annoying to list them, an almost perfect wide angle that becomes perfect for the selling price exposed to the public. Must have.
sent on 02 Settembre 2021 Pros: Tropicalization - Compactness - Optical and mechanical quality Cons: Nobody Opinion: Bought to leave it fixed on the XE3. It does not disappoint: optical and mechanical quality really very good and deadly coupled with the XE3. Focal length equivalent to 24mm on FF lends itself really well to being carried around all the time. Low maximum yield weight. I photograph everything and it never disappoints. Amazing sharpness at full aperture (in the center), it becomes a blade if diaphragmated (4.0/5.6) uniforming the yield to the whole frame. Really recommended.
sent on 14 Gennaio 2021 Pros: Value for money, compactness, WR, general yield Cons: Nobody Opinion: Great goal, there's not much to say. As you would expect from a recent lens with this opening, yield and sharpness remain good even opening all the diaphragm. It is a lens that produces excellent images, faithful, without great defects. The maximum opening at 2.8 still allows you to take advantage of a slight bokeh if you take sufficiently close shots. Autofocus is in the standards of other fujicrons. Its strong point is definitely compactness, the 16mm is certainly not a handyman's optics, and it is almost always necessary to combine it with another lens: this can be kept in your pocket without problems and carry it with you in all situations. Ultimately it is a point of view to recommend and consider, also because, if you are looking for a similar wide angle in this price range, there are not many alternatives. PS. If you are amateur and already own one of the zooms of the kit (16-50, 15-45), I feel instead to advise against it: half an opening stop does not, in this case, make a difference.
sent on 23 Novembre 2020 Pros: Size and weight, ergonomics, overall optical quality, sharpness and yield Cons: Maybe the TA at 2.8 Opinion: Fantastic lens: very compact and light, of excellent workmanship and quality, it is very well connuwn with x-pro 3 glue. Very quick and quiet focus, also beautiful the supplied lampshon, has excellent ergonomics. Excellent optical quality, very clear lens (and the maximum reaches it perhaps between f 4.0 and 5.6). Very suitable as a travel lens and /or reportage, for street photography, and in general also as walk-around or go-to lens. The only defect may be having the TA at 2.8, but it would obviously have been affected by the weight/footprint and the price. Very recommended!
sent on 17 Agosto 2020 Pros: size, weight, sharpness Cons: brightness not high, but that's what you put into account at the time of purchase Opinion: I've had this vision for just over a year. For a couple of months he lived with his older brother, brighter, then I preferred to keep this, having considered it more suitable for my needs because of its compactness and lightness. I use it on the X-Pro along with the other fixes in the f:2 series. After all, the diaphragms that I use today (from 5.6 to 11) is completely equivalent to 16mm f:1.4, in all respects, which I have seen after many and many comparisons between my two 16mm. Photographer since 1968 and despite having owned many machines and optics, even very expensive, I have never understood what is the magic or the soul of a lens that, for me, is and remains a metal barrel (today many are plastic) with inside lenses that have the function of returning with fidelity and precision the scene between the viewfinder. This little 16mm does its duty, very well for what I need, and that's enough for me. Besides it costs the right (paid new 380 euros ). If the intended use was that of reportage in dark environments, then I certainly suggest the 16mm f: 1.4. In my kit I also have the 16/80mm and the 16/50 f:2.8. Compared to the small guy in question, the zoom pro is very similar while the larger zoom gives a little to the edges at T.A. But in my opinion the comparison with the zooms, bulky and heavy, does not hold up. With the X-Pro it is more logical to prefer compact optics, with zooms I see better X-T or X-H.
sent on 17 Agosto 2020 Pros: Weight, wr, construction Cons: Nothing specific but a little shabby, maybe the cost of the new Opinion: I write this review the moment I decided to sell the lens after a month and a half of use and the only thing I can say is that it is a normal lens, without glaring flaws and without tips of enthusiasm. He does his and nothing more. Sharpness and colors in the norm, little magic but not necessarily bad, is that fuji has accustomed me too well with other lenses and this by comparison seems precisely "too normal", I think at this point I will take either the 14mm or a zoom like the 16-80 or even the 16-50 that from the reviews does not seem too much worse than this fixed 16mm 16mm
sent on 17 Maggio 2020 Pros: Nititidezza. Weight and size. Cons: F2.8 Opinion: It's a good goal. I bought it mainly for landscape photos, but also for street set. I would have liked the brightness of his brothers (F2.0) for interior photos (before I used the 16-50 zoom kit that at 16mm is F3.5, only half a stop difference). Great autofocus, fast and precise. It weighs little and is small. Coupled with the xt -20 I get great portability and discretion. Summing up there are lights and shadows, but it is worth its price.
sent on 26 Settembre 2019 Pros: Small and light, Sharp central area, AF fast. Cons: I don't know. Opinion: Small and light mounted on xt-3 behaves well. AF is fast, always hooks in good light conditions, suffers slightly in low light. The blur is good of course when the subject in focus is very close. At full open it is crisp in the central areas, softer than the peripheral areas. I use it as a secondary lens, when the 35mm f/2 (my primary lens) is not enough for me. I think the price is in line with the build quality.
sent on 21 Agosto 2019 Pros: Weight Size and WR Cons: Soulless and cold Opinion: I've been using it for 4 months now, but love never started. Cold and soulless never made me shout "wow" when I saw a picture of her. Fast and small, here end the praise. It's worth the money it costs, without working miracles even as sharpness. For sale for passage to older sister 1.4. Recommended only if you are looking for compactness, aware of the limits.
sent on 15 Maggio 2019 Pros: Light, tropicalized, solid, AF fast, bright Cons: Nobody Opinion: I find this an excellent lens in line with the 23mm and 35mm, offers a fantastic aperture that adapts to many uses. AF fast, really nice bokeh, light and compact, solid air, is weather sealed, use it with an XT-2 also tropicalized without fear of weather conditions. I recommend it as a lens to have in your outfit.
sent on 03 Aprile 2019 Pros: Pocket, solid, fast Cons: At the moment no one Opinion: I State that I bought this lens from a day and then I could try only for some shots in the air, however, I insert in my gallery. On My YouTube channel, you also find the unboxing with the first impressions hot. As For the use; Firstly I have to say that for the kind I do mostly and therefore street, it's a too much fun lens. The focal length of 16, a 24 equivalent on FF, is in my opinion a perfect length because it allows to give air to the scene. The Street is not done with a 200 but with goals like this, you approach the subject, choose the PDR and click. Show Since you can really take a big breath and cmq going to look at the photos I realized a lady sharpness, then even cropping, do not lose anything. As For the speed of AF I already knew what I would find and actually the speed is not bad and then you want to put even the aesthetics? The flower hood is too "cute" and is that it is cool, if you want to see it go watch the video on my channel. Mounted on xt20 The machine is really very light and cmq practically small small. Coming from a 18/55, practically the 16 is little more than half. The shots I made I have differently diaphragmati and it seems to me (but I promise to squeeze much more) that also TA, there is a detail and a sharpness. Initial Evaluation, absolutely positive. Upcoming updates in the future:-) You Can see the first shots I made in a gallery I specifically created for the 16th, also below the link of the Unboxing video of the same 16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QCe8XGC0qk&t=193s
