sent on 09 Maggio 2021 Pros: Very light, walking. Comfortable and quiet display. Great details and colors. Pretty in general. Cons: Bad lens cover. Poor battery life. As limited as everyone in your class. Opinion: Poor yield at medium high ISO. It is recommended to use it at the maximum opening at 15mm (equivalent about 22mm in FF). Used for a few months in 2019 to have a second light body (for the desperation of extra weight). Very good and silent burst; it was she who convinced me more and more of the future use of mirrorless. Not recommended for ceremonial use given the battery life but good AF and burst hooking. Excellent as a first purchase for newbies. Some of the best in his class. For the rest I rely on the excellent review of Giallo63.
sent on 31 Gennaio 2021 Pros: among the compact is undoubtedly one of the best performing, the only compact zoom with tropicalized APSC sensor Cons: dark from mid-focal excursion up, manual focus unusable, still use the digic 7, if you make video it has no microphone input and does not record 4k Opinion: I had to replace the old g7x and I wanted something more performing and more suitable for photography. I evaluated many models, in the end I dwelt on the G5x m2, G1x m3 and panasonic lx100 m2 and ricoh gr3. In the end I opted for this, the qualitative leap with the g5 was not enough to convince me, the ricoh has fixed lens and very few physical controls, so it would have been limiting and unmusing although it has excellent image quality, the lx100 was the most beautiful to use with all physical controls such as a fuji, a manual focus that is a pleasure and very bright ... With regard to photos, however, I found it unconvincing and the screen is fixed, for recreational use it is convenient to have the tilt screen. In the end I opted for the g1x m3 which is also WR. In general, I am happy, but in hindsight I would still have some doubts. It is not small enough to be considered pocket-sized, the articulated screen is bulky, the tilt that rises from above as on the g5-g7 is more practical. The lens is at the levels of a mirrorless ekit, so not stratospheric but on the other hand they have done everything possible to stay on acceptable dimensions. I am not convinced that it was the best to have replaced the micro 4/3 of the g1x m2 with the apsc of the m3. Better quality yes, but at the expense of focal length and above all brightness. The 15mm F2.8 can stay there, but it soon switches to F5.6 and in many situations it gets really dark. The controls are more or less all setable, the manual focus is a little disappointing, the focus peaking is not very visible and among the various solutions that can be set, dedicating the multi-cleaning ring to us is the best solution, but it still remains very uncomfortable, to be used in "emergency". The viewfinder goes very well, comfortable the built-in flash, works well with the app. I don't care much about videos, but it's a shame that it doesn't do 4k since it's a standard now, and it doesn't have external microphone input. Evidently they wanted to downgrade it on various fronts to give more appeal to other models. The grip is excellent for being a small machine, shots makes about 200-230, not many but for a compact it is nothing strange. Spare batteries are cheap and very small, it does not bother to have 1 or 2 behind them. In general it is an excellent machine with which to take well in manual, excellent for those who start or for those who want to travel light, or those who want a camera to always have with them, with which to take photos that with a phone you can only dream of. If you are used to compact is a bomb, if you are used to reflex or mirrorless of medium/high range you have to accept some compromise. It is now at acceptable prices so I would say interesting.

sent on 08 Febbraio 2020 Pros: Construction, speed, unwindable screen, and good image quality. Cons: The high price. Opinion: Taken for almost a year taking advantage of an offer not to be missed of a well-known Italian electronics chain that in addition to a discount on the list of 40% that weekend there was also the offer no vat on all products, it was already for a while that I thought to take it but had me sempr and curbed the cost too high. I immediately clarify that it is not at the level of the entry-level Reflex I use Nikon that does not have in the catalog similar products so I took this Canon. Anyway it has its own because it is really small for the sensor that has , the zoom is more than dignified maybe a little short. It is intuitive to manage and operate the controls and menu even for me who use Nikon. I expected the noise to hold up better at 1600 and the dynamic range is a bit poor. Otherwise it is well done and fast with physical controls without always having to resort to the menu.
| sent on 16 Settembre 2019 Pros: APSC sensor in a very small body, silence, high end quality, convincing AF Cons: Poor autonomy, objective dial without snap stops, high price Opinion: I thought and read a lot before I bought this camera. It is true that the optics are dim and have a reduced excursion; but it can not be otherwise, if you want such a large sensor together with such small footprints: but qualitatively the optics are appreciated almost at extreme angles, and the stabilizer is very effective. The pdc is still manageable with close-ups blur and pleasant background bokeh, but you can't expect record-breaking performance in portraits at the maximum focal, where it doesn't open more than a modest f:5.6. However, every time I look at it, it seems incredible that in that tiny black and robust photocamerine there is such a large sensor, the same as the 80D eos. The panning feature is useful and quite reliable, although 95% of my shots take place in Av and raw format. It is a camera that is appreciated after hours and hours of walking, when its weight does NOT feel and the desire to shoot again overcomes the laziness of planting there. But it is mandatory to carry another battery, if not two others, which are also very light and of size consistent with the G1x mk III. There are compacts with excellent performance and goals with greater excursion and brightness, but when I observe the results on a good monitor the quality of the files churned out by the G1 does not make me regret the reflex. Those of other compact zooms, yes: who more who less, but none equals the cleanliness and absence of artifacts of the G1 file. At high ISO it performs very well up to 3200; the 6400 are still well manageable by dosing the NR (I use DPP) and beyond you can still go, but with good reason and avoiding excessive expectations. On-camera baked jpeges tend to be too correct as noise reduction. Better to choose the minimum setting or better yet shoot in RAW. Close-up: with a small additional lens of 2 diopries I have obtained more than decent results: of course I speak of close shots, certainly not macros, but that demonstrate the excellent quality of the lens of this compact camera even in a range of use decidedly different from the one for which it was (painstakingly) designed. | sent on 27 Aprile 2019 Pros: Compactness, lightness, construction and sensor quality, viewfinder Cons: Price (at least for now, if new), lens brightness Opinion: A small one that amazes, I have to say that some things impress immediately: the design in my opinion impeccable and the feeling as soon as you hold it for the first shots, which is surprising thanks to the quality of the materials used and the compactness. The menu is intuitive, but I don't know if it can seem like this for everyone, I've already had other Canons. I find the electronic viewfinder very good and responsive and also good image quality, thanks to the large sensor. Usable with satisfactory results up to 1600 ISOs, it is also better not to go further. Less exciting the brightness of the lens at maximum zoom, I would have hoped for something better, but given the size at the end I think it's understandable. In any case for those who want a functional machine, not bulky and not too demanding I would say that it is excellent. And the fact that it is also tropicalized is a plus not to be underestimated for those like me who want to take it everywhere, without being afraid that sudden adverse conditions can ruin it and then relegate it to custody. |
sent on 08 Aprile 2019 Pros: Compact, lightweight, quality, customizable, handy, image quality. Cons: Not received Opinion: Hello everyone! The camera is very compact and manageable, with many customizations, solid, it's in a pocket or a pouch! The camera churns out very nice files and just works little little to get great results, side shooting I do not use it, so I do not express myself. The features of the product are practically the same as a high-end reflex, the optics is more like an optical kit but with F/2.8 on the wide-angle side, ultra compact and closing a little crisp. The customizations are many and interesting, and make your camera YOUR! The battery lasts little, I did not put it between the cons as it is a known feature before the purchase. I recommend it to those who want to stay light and are ready to settle for a handyman goal, suitable for making landscapes, portraits, excursions. I haven't tried it because they're not genres that interest me. Always ready to shoot! Highly recommended! Vote 10!
sent on 29 Marzo 2019 Pros: Compact for APS-C sensor, Tropicalized, customisable, jpg Cons: Electronic viewfinder can be improved but does its job, price but is located at much less than the price list Opinion: Bought to have a short focal for landscapes when with me I have the camera with the 100-400 canon mounted and I do not want to continue to change the lens, and to use the compactness in reference to its sensor, during travel. Here, for my use, described above, is perfect! The customisation of the front ring and other "wheels" is Excellent. Instead The change dial settings is difficult to turn with a hand for the presence of release button, useful, but creates some more difficulty, but for me that shutter to 90% in aperture priority, that's fine. If properly set in the room, it churn JPG ready to use already. Short but sufficient Focal, you can't expect anything else from a compact with a tropicalized APS-C sensor. Chapeau to Canon!
sent on 29 Luglio 2018 Pros: Image quality, impeccable finishes, weight and size, built-in ND filter, function programmability. Cons: enough electronic viewfinder but... effective, a bit short lens in the MKII version was more performanf but at the expense of sensor size. Opinion: I took this car for my wife's next birthday and with the excuse to set it up, it's a couple of days that I ride with the neck. I had underestimated the principle thinking a compact, performing but with limits, after two days I have to recreate, I probably will take another for me, I do not miss the system at least for 90% of the things I do...
sent on 05 Luglio 2018 Pros: Quality files, quality finishes, excellent viewfinder and excellent lens. Cons: For my needs has none. Opinion: I've been using it for a few months after giving away the 6d, no regrets. Image quality absolutely at the level of a 80d in a beautifully finished body (it seems to have a small 5 series in hand). Great viewfinder. Lens at sensor height, many on the net complain about the low brightness at the maximum focal length but if you want to keep the clutter is a compromise to accept. Another fact read on the net is the price that however is in line with that of the Sony RX100 that I have owned and I find absolutely inferior for sensor performance and ergonomics. To conclude I believe today is the only compact that really can replace a reflex.
sent on 11 Gennaio 2018 Pros: Compact and light body, high image quality, suitable for everyone. Cons: Price, lack of entry for external microphones Opinion: Arrived just yesterday paid much less than the store (I can not do shop names), but I paid almost less than half.rnI am a maniac Canon and especially G series, I have tried all (G1 mkI, G1 mkII, G7 ... all!) and I really have to admit that Canon did a great job. The body is robust, the display and the keys. To the touch it is 'soft', of a compactness and unique lightness. High image and video quality, audio like that (I really wanted an external microphone slot!). Improved also the grip and 'fast keys', the flash luckily is manual (in the sense that you have to raise it by hand, one mechanism less). The aperture of the exposure meter + 3-3 and the ring located under the shutter button is very convenient. Lens ring very fluid. I noticed the difference in optics with the G1 mkII, ok that the lens is less bright, but the sensor is bigger. Panoramic mode and panenjoyment, as well as the exclusive 'touch' focus on the display while looking through the viewfinder. Small but effective sight, everything is read well. Satisfied with the purchase, I would recommend it to those who are passionate and have experience, to put in your pocket and go! But at 1200-1300 € is too much to ask.
