Pros: Ergonomics, All-rounder, High ISO sealing, Gust

Cons: Card slots

Opinion: Taken used after the release of the R1, it is an all-rounder camera and I use it mainly for sports, weddings and various events. In principle, I also share all the previous comments, I am very satisfied with the purchase. For the type of machine, I would have preferred 2 CFexpress type B cards instead of 1+1 SD.

Pros: Sharpness, focus, viewfinder, dynamic range, high ISO noise hold. I add focus with the gaze, overbust of the shot with 195 shots in a second, synchronization with the phase of the Led lights absolutely spectacular.

Cons: Battery life: forget the endurance of the 1D M IV! but also of the 1DX M II or III!

Opinion: I modify the post: I finally managed to do three replicas of the same show, so I was able to seriously test the car: I varied the following parameters under the same conditions. 1) Focus tracking: unrivaled. What amazed me, I had never tried it, was "the chase with the gaze", that is, where you look focuses. IT WORKS GREAT! Except that contrary to what they recommend, I have seen that it works well only if you make only one setting, the more you do the more the machine gets "tangled". He is not 100% accurate but still does not miss a beat. Just be careful not to look at the parameters at the bottom because it obviously blurs everything ?. Moreover, my eye does not withstand the brightness of the mirrorless viewfinder for long, so I always shoot with the screen, I feel GREAT in it and I do not tire the eyes; but in some steps it can make a difference. 2) 1.6 magnification: I have always avoided it because it has always degraded the quality of the image. With the R3 the quality remains excellent! so in many situations it can be used without losing quality. 3) the overbust of 195 shots in a second: it makes a maximum of 50, then there is a buffer interval, but you have those 50 shots in a quarter of a second that really allow you to capture the right moment when the movement, as in dance, in its perfection is fundamental. Compared to the classic engine, it must be said that you still have to hit the moment of movement, but in that fraction of a second you have 50 different possibilities. not to be used all the time, you have to insert it and then disenseri, but it is an extra gear. 4) Finally the electronic shot: with LED lights it has always been a nightmare. It finds the phase of the light very well, automatically adjusts to it, and COMPLETELY solves the banding problem! I absolutely recommend the purchase, you save compared to the r1, which certainly gives more, but it is an absolutely exceptional machine. The definition, thanks to the thinner low-pass filter, is absolutely FANTASTIC, and also allows for large crops... Just be careful to calibrate the definition well with the photo styles, because at full definition some artifacts could also appear, you can't have ? everything!

Pros: Record high ISO file quality, general file quality, very beautiful color tending to be warm, top AF with all its modes, easy to manage raw file, dynamic range

Cons: Image view and distant zoom button

Opinion: A definitive camera that excels in all genres, ideal for set astrophotography and clearly for those who shoot in sports, weddings etc. The file at high ISO is really impressive 12,800 ISO has a really fine and contained grain, great dynamic range and color depth, beautiful and robust camera body, infinite battery, effective eye control, 24 megapixels of quality allow a modest crop, clearly no the extreme ones that allows the R5, a complete camera vote 10.

Pros: Excellent in everything or almost.

Cons: View button and trash too far to the bottom left, but these are just habits.

Opinion: Thanks to the lower prices after the release of the new R5 I was able to afford it. Spectacular AF lock and ISO tightness. The slight crops for on-the-fly framing in events do not ruin the quality of the jpeg and you forget that it is a 24 mpx. File very close in quality to the 1DXmk3 that I have used on loan many times. Together with the R5mk2 they play very well as hooking and bursting. For the rest, I agree in principle with all the previous comments. Nothing to add.

Pros: Speed of subject attaching, workability and quality of the file, ISO hold, ergonomics, battery life, simple and clear menu.

Cons: Mine is afraid of humidity, if it had a few more pixels it would be perfect.

Opinion: I use the R3 exclusively for birdlife and the performance is excellent. I come from a 1 DX Mark II, which is already excellent, but the subject tracking of the R3 is another thing. I used it with adapter and EF 100-400 without losing focus speed. Canon has done a great job of technical and marketing. Now I mount the RF 100-500. I unfortunately had a couple of problems during two days of rain (not intense). The first time, the dial on the back (which I use for apertures) no longer worked, and the second time, the screen turned off while rotating. Once dry (I repeat, just a few droplets) the camera was perfect again. The EOS R3, for me, is still exceptional.

Pros: Ergonomics, file quality both RAW and JPG, high ISO tightness, shutter up to 1/64000sec, battery life, compatibility with EF supertele, intuitive menu, integrated GPS, 12fps machine, AF, IBIS

Cons: Lack of spot metering associated with the focus point (present on all Sony and 1D series), size, customization of the buttons less than the Sony A1, USB charging cumbersome battery and requires expensive adapter (but works well with that of the Macbook). Inconsistent memory cards

Opinion: Finally an "almost" series 1 with an excellent sensor finally stacked (and also very fast between stacked) and BSI. The camera obviously falls into the hand very well like all the professional and semi-professional series of Canon, or at least those who have so far used Canon feel quite at home. I turned off the Eye focus because I don't find it effective for the type of photography I do (wildlife and birds). Even the multicontroller I disabled it because 'for now I do not find it useful and often moves the focus point with obvious loss of images. It is not possible (at least I have not found it) to assign to a button the change of eye focus from human to animal. It would be useful (as I did on A1 by assigning it to the middle button of the rear bezel). For the rest the file even at very high ISO and 'workable and with PureRaw 3 I had satisfactory images even at 25600 ISO. So it definitely goes well in low light, even if the AF starts to suffer. It does better than the A9II in terms of noise at high iso, while it seems to me that at dynamic range it beats the A9II hands down. It would be appropriate for Canon to remove SD cards and use only CFexpress. This problem was actually there even on the 1DXmk II where only one card was the fast one. We hope that for the R1 they understand that for professionals it is often necessary to shoot on both boards for security reasons, and if the cards are different the buffer is calibrated on the less fast one. I still don't like the Canon-style swivel screen. I understand that for vloggers and video it is perhaps useful, but I find it more useful to have the tilted Sony A1 style. Let's hope the industry will tari on what they put on Sony A7rV which does both.

Pros: Fast autofocus, fast and precise eye detection (sometimes it mistakes holes for animal eyes but it fits), high ISO resistance, excellent backlit Staked sensor, fast and precise eye control, tropicalization at the top, weight, ergonomics, battery life, frame rate at 30fps very fast with the possibility of customization at 195fps for a single shot, dynamic LCD screen ....... It's great for me!!!!!!

Cons: if I have to be picky, a few more pixels did not hurt .... But isn't it that serious!!!!!

Opinion: There are not many words to write about such a camera, excellent if not excellent in any area of use ...... A bet won by Canon with backlit staked sensor that on my behalf is scary!!!!! I admit that it is not infallible but it certainly helps you to bring home the result without any problem, fast and convenient even the use of the bluetooth and network system. Highly recommended!!!!!!

Pros: Autofocus at the top of the category, Eye Focus Control, reference viewfinder, ergonomics, tropicalization and build quality, high iso tightness, dynamic range, autonomy, .... in short, an exceptional camera!!!.

Cons: I just can't think of anything

Opinion: Everything you could want in a camera body designed and manufactured mainly for nature and sport. Disarming the ease with which the AF hooks the subjects and keeps them in focus to the edges of the frame. A record-breaking feature (which in my opinion shares with another "phenomenon" of the mirrorless landscape: the Fuji XH2S) and that allows bursts in which it is really difficult to find an out-of-focus frame. Ergonomically perfect, it has relatively small dimensions and an excellent level of tropicalization. The maximum for use in the harshest conditions. The innovative focusing system that exploits the movements of the pupil can represent an additional advantage in terms of speed if necessary, but it is necessary to get used to it. As for the position of "flagship" in the Canon house, I doubt that the future R1 we are talking about will be able to do better in terms of operation, if anything it will have features designed mainly for different or additional uses compared to the traditional sports and / or naturalistic photo.

Pros: everything, frame rate from 30 fps per second. AF sensor on the eyes of people, animals and for cars. the best high iso around. (low-light iso)

Cons: nothing

Opinion: simply the best camera both among the SLRs and among the mirrorless currently on the market. even superior to the flagship of the super professionals subscribed to the SLR or the canon 1dx mark III. dxo-mark puts it in first place in the ranking of cameras for sports and nature photography. high speed with 30 fps per second and 1/64000 practically the fastest machine in the mondo.ma excels in all sectors even in landscape and portrait with color depth and dynamic range. in these fields surpassed only by medium format machines such as the Hasselblad X1D-50c. it has a perfect handle, a firm grip, a robust camera body.it is not yet considered the real flagship for canon in mirrorless because they already have the R1 in plan. the machine that according to the opinions of experts will revolutionize the era of fotografia.ma the R3 integrates an articulated touchscreen display, interesting comfort in different conditions, despite this, however, the body remains tropicalized and therefore resistant to atmospheric agents. It has a 0.5" electronic viewfinder with 5.76 million points, 120Hz refresh rate, 100% coverage and 0.76x magnification which, among other things, has no blackout during shooting, so you can continue to photograph in bursts without any kind of darkening that could distract you. the R3 is a real bomb waiting to amaze us even more with the R1. great Canon

Pros: Viewfinder equipped with an algorithm that makes it the best possible approximation of an optical viewfinder. Gaze-controlled focus is possible even in catastrophic light conditions. Responsiveness, performance and versatility of AF. Very low noise as the ISO rises. Low weight when compared to that of a reflex flagship counterpart.

Cons: If it had a handful of extra pixels it would be the non plus ultra ! The dual-pixel raw is missing.

Opinion: A flagship that, however, weighs on average about 1/2 kilo less than an equivalent SLR. Its performance is precisely from flagship: shutter speed up to 1/64000, crazy burst, noise containment at high ISO record, tropicalization at the highest levels on the market, dynamic range at the top, large and super bright viewfinder, equipped with a function that assimilates it to an optical viewfinder, LCD screen with very high resolution: how, moreover, the same viewfinder. It deserves a mention apart from the AF compartment, in which the focus is shining controlled directly by the user's pupil (there is a device that stores the calibration of the photographer's iris), which allows you to use the AF, which follows what you are following with your gaze, as is not possible on any other camera on the market; but, not least is the responsiveness and performance of the same autofocus module: 4779 areas capable of automatically recognizing not only people, or animals, but also vehicles and able to do all this practically in the dark! In fact, the photos that should be, possibly, to be trashed would be, without less, to be ascribed solely to the user and not attributable to the device. Finally, even the resolution, which is not in line with the trend based on increasingly dense sensors and which could be increased, does not penalize the detail that much, thanks to an absolutely non-invasive anti-aliasing filter. It lacks the dual-pixel raw, which made its appearance on the 5D MK IV and was further developed on the R5. In conclusion and in any case, it remains a "podium" camera.

Pros: The most consistent of the AF modules, the ability to focus in the dark, the shutter speed of 1/64,000, the exclusive Eye Focus Control, the best resistance to high ISO, 24 excellent Megapixels, the automatic recognition of people, animals and vehicles, the perfect ergonomics especially with "important" lenses such as Supertele and fixed RF, extraordinary burst (up to 30 FPS with ES), Canon's first Stacked sensor, the excellent tropicalization, the presence of the smart touch control at the AF ON button, the excellent viewfinder even in very low light, the absence of rolling shutter, a powerful battery that "moves" in an instant even the heaviest lenses.

Cons: Absence of lock button for the mode dial, this can allow you to turn it inadvertently (I set the ISO to this), slightly small upper display.

Opinion: Canon's dedicated camera for photographers engaged in sports, photojournalism, reportage and "fast" birdlife, the Canon EOS R3 is the first Canon FF RF to be equipped with the brand new Stacked sensor designed and manufactured by Canon. The latter, together with the excellent DIGIC X processor, represents the fulcrum of the R3 whose task is to ferry canon 1 Series owners to the new Mount RF. Thanks to the very fast readout of the sensor (1/180) the R3 allows you to use the electronic shutter in virtually any situation without the risk of incurring the Rolling Shutter. I immediately appreciated the operating speed combined with the possibility of shooting up to 1/64,000 (with bursts up to 30 FPS with electronic shutter) and with a consistency of photos in focus practically absolute in any context thanks to an incredible and fully customizable AF module that, repeated to the competition, can also take advantage of the innovative (for an R) Eye Focus Control, that is, the possibility of looking with the eye at what you want to focus on, thus giving the control to the machine combined with the possibility of automatically selecting people, animals and vehicles. The sensor is as fast as it is in quality (this is perceived as soon as you open the first RAW) so much so that it has earned the highest score (for a Canon sensor) on DXO which, at the same time, has praised it as "the best low light performance of any full-frame camera in our database". Its form factor winks at the historical customers of the Canon 1 Series and guarantees almost perfect ergonomics, especially with "important" lenses such as Supertele and RF fixtures. This machine removes any alibi to the photographer: if correctly set the AF module it is not possible to mistake the hooking of a subject as it is not possible to have a frame of an out-of-focus burst so, if this were to occur, the fault would fall, solely, on the incompetence of the user. I have yet to test it in the travel reportage but, from my first impressions, this is a total machine capable of fulfilling its duty both in a studio in Rome and in a context of rain, dust and humidity typical of some difficult destinations.

Pros: Advanced and modular M.a.F. system, adaptable to specific needs; ergonomics; tropicalization (but I already knew this); EVF; design; battery life; stabilizer; focus up to - 7.5 EV and so much more.

Cons: At the moment none, but I reserve a more accurate judgment for when I know her better.

Opinion: Purchased on 4-12-2021 and tested on the field with a wedding on a day impossible from a weather point of view. Excellent behavior, except for some of my cognitive deficiencies on the product just bought. I do not consider it infallible since I am convinced that there are no infallible cameras, but only excellent products that minimize (almost zero) the margins of error. This is one of them! For now I have used it almost exclusively with the 85 mm. f. 1.2 at maximum aperture (or almost) to obtain in wedding portraits that WOW effect that is so fashionable. (we have to survive and therefore we have to adapt "ob torto collo" to the momentary fashions). I also took some shots with the new (for me) RF 15-35 f. 2.8 and I must note that compared to the EF16-35 f.2.8 it is so much, but much better. You can see and appreciate a big difference due to the new draft and the new design. For now I would stop here, waiting to test it longer and in situations of great speed of action. Next March the riding competitions will start again and then I will really understand how the new R3 body behaves.
