sent on 07 Agosto 2023 Pros: Price, Focal Range, Weight/Size, Decent Construction, Colors, Bokeh, Three-Dimensionality Cons: Lack of stabilization, low quality above 200 mm, slow and sometimes inaccurate AF Opinion: Those who, like me, had it bundled with the 550d found it almost a gift... However, if you are looking for an average used telephoto zoom under 100 euros (seen on 80-90.....but what are you buying??) this is great. The reasons? First of all it's a Canon, it reaches 300 mm (apsc 480 equivalent), it's well made, metal bayonet, smooth and easy to handle rings, it doesn't distort, beautiful colors, up to 200 mm sharp especially between f5.6 and f9 above 200 usable only from f11 up to f22, good color rendering even if raising the iso and closing the aperture you risk some aberration... Excellent portraits that are absolutely not flat and with a pleasant blur. Of course it needs light, sporting events are held in broad daylight with the sun, birdlife I already see harder... Street... Why not? It is turned with a "cannoncino" that is all in all light and inconspicuous... also good for macros.... The real flaw is the lack of stabilization, from 200 mm upwards even if you have an iron hand you don't solve much, you need a tripod unless you are at least 1/500, between 75 and 200?.... you get used to shooting without IS and you get the hang of it... simple! AF sometimes iffy but it also depends on the body used. Overall a must for those who love 'budget photography' like me, rated 9
sent on 10 Maggio 2023 Pros: 300mm, weight, cost Cons: Plastic, unresponsive AF, sharpness not at its best, no stabilization Opinion: Bought in the kit along with my old 550D. I started to take my first steps thanks to this goal. It is a very light goal, it costs little and his job does it discreetly. The dimensions are small and it is comfortable to carry in any backpack. The focus is very slow and noisy. I would recommend it as a lens just to start given its price, but nothing more.
sent on 10 Dicembre 2021 Pros: Lightness, focal range, sharpness* Cons: Noisy and inaccurate Af, loss of sharpness at maximum focal length, blurring of a part of the frame with a fully open aperture. Opinion: For the price at which it is proposed it must be said that with due care, you can pull out good shots despite the quality performance is not at the top. If on the one hand we find the wide focal range and the relative lightness of the lens itself, on the other there are as many weak points that affect its overall quality. Let's start once again with autofocus. It is definitely noisy and often inaccurate. It also tends to be slow and for the subjects I portray (aircraft landing or take-off) it is a significant problem. The sharpness is good if not very good (but this is a personal judgment) from the shortest focal length up to roughly 250/280 mm and then quickly lose quality once the maximum focal length of 300 mm has been reached. The other annoying flaw is the progressive blurring of a part of the frame with the aperture completely open despite having set the focus to infinity.
sent on 12 Ottobre 2020 Pros: Lightness, focal excursion, compatibility with FF Cons: Lack of stabilization, sharpness at TA, chromatic aberrations Opinion: I bought it back in 1999, just released, for analog EOS. Back then it was a standard telezoom for amateurs and for the time had more than adequate performance. Even now I find it difficult to give a completely negative judgment, perhaps because I consider it a kind of gift made to me by time, since I found it between the aging without taking out a penny when I switched to digital EOS (first 450D and then 70D). He still honestly does his job for amateur use, albeit with many limitations, and manages to produce good shots. Of course the sharpness is very far from that of a professional optics, especially at TA, and the chromatic aberrations always lurking. It produces rather soft images and gives its best between f8 and f11; with due post-production it provides more than satisfactory results. From its lightness and the consequent handling. The biggest flaw is the lack of stabilization that forces fast times or forces the use of the tripod. Mounted on an easel for photos of architectural and artistic details or some shots of urban views is still useful to me. I'd like to try it on a FF.
sent on 22 Agosto 2017 Pros: Lightweight, especially cost-effective Cons: Lack of stabilization, poor image quality, is not USM. Opinion: It is a lens to keep only if you make videos. In Full HD it's OK, at 300, if it's on hard drive. For the rest it is full of problems. Very light, the ideal match is with an Eos M in video mode on a tripod even lighter due to reduced load, but cmq stable at longer focal lengths. It also makes sense for "small pictures" "Like those for websites. It's plasticous and it's not a battle. It makes no sense to use it on vacation: you would ruin memories.
sent on 22 Agosto 2017 Pros: Lightness - good focal length Cons: Slow autofocus - not a handyman - to use with fast times and so with so much light :) Opinion: On the small format (APSc - used on 400D-600D-50D) the picture quality leaves much to be desired --- on full size (6D) reserves a pleasant yield even if not "sharp" as you would like: single focal lengths are Much lower as quality to the corresponding manual fixed targets (my old Zuiko 100, 135, 200 and 300 and Hoya 300) but this also happens at the very expensive 300 2,8L
sent on 15 Luglio 2017 Pros: Focal, Weight, Price Cons: Sharpness, Darkness, AF (Considered Alternative) Opinion: Honestly, I never really came into the world of canvases. With my first reflex, the 1000d, the 18-55 kit I always seemed to be short, often looking for portraits and close close plans, so I was able to give this cheap and lightweight piece with which I played a bit, at the beginning Stunned by the focal length, enthusiastic about the fact that I could take details of long distance, close-ups without moving, simply turning the ring. All this from a novice in experimentation. However the benefits are all there when it's your first canvass and you're under the 300mm wow effect on apsc. After doing a little bit of experience you realize the limits of the optics, which, for charity, makes it discreetly, but without stabilization it is realistically usable only in good light conditions or under 150mm. Observe the sports at the closed or high speeds unless under the direct sunshine. After 40d I inherited an old 70-210 f / 4 and I have not used it anymore. I would love to say it is a'Optic for those who are at the beginning and is experimenting with new things, looking for their place in the world of photography, if not by the fact that with a few extra euros you get an ultrasound AF faster and more powerful. In my opinion, it does not make much sense as an optician and I can not recommend it considering the alternative almost at the same price (and I talk about who CAN LOVE and VUOLE the new one). If you are interested, I can say that it would be worth it only if you are under 20 years old and has been given, for those who have more experience there are a tide (literally) of alternatives (from old canon versions to more recent third-party optics ) That work much better.
sent on 02 Giugno 2016 Pros: cost lightness Cons: Lacking the stabilizer Opinion: I bought this lens as a kit with canon 550 d, and I immediately replaced with Tamron stabilizzato.rnUltimamente are switched to Fuji and tried to use it again with the adattatore.rnLa yield is' clearly improved, with possibilita'di looking up asa lack stabilizer feels much less, with peacking focus you focus without problems even in manual and is also 'leggerissimo.rnLa sharpness using more' fast times and 'improved and allows me a 450 mm focal length It serves sempre.rnConsiderando the price it deserves an 8.
sent on 16 Aprile 2016 Pros: Reading, good focal range, weight Cons: For what it costs ..... Opinion: Caught in a kit with the 550d and set aside for a time. Now I try to 6D and find it reborn. The compact size allows me to always have it back together with 50stm. I actually prefer the Tamron 70-300 VC that now I no longer carry with me because of a weight and size triple and image quality not so superior. A bit 'soft to TA, with excellent color. Today I want to break an arrow to this budget that basically knows how to give satisfaction on several fronts 8 vote
sent on 04 Maggio 2015 Pros: Light, cheap, good focal range Cons: Autofocus, lack of stabilizer Opinion: Economic objective and good construction, does his duty to a certain focus, then no stabilizer is hard to use. On stand does its job well (always compared to the price), but freehand hardly be satisfied with the results. The autofocus is quite noisy but effective enough. It does its job but you have to accept compromises .. much better than the 55-250 ...
sent on 26 Gennaio 2015 Pros: Price, weight, size Cons: Autofocus Opinion: L I bought along with the camera and all 'objective of the kit. To start with the tele is perfect. The sharpness is not his strong point, ok, but for beginners, and as a comparison has the 18-55 kit, this zoom gives good satisfaction. L 'then zoom range is good, with a tripod you can begin to make attempts to focal length and there is a chance to experiment and learn, for who, I repeat, is the beginning, as I was when the' I bought. For the price at which it is located, would recommend to all beginners!
sent on 03 Giugno 2014 Pros: Price, focal length, solid construction Cons: Lack stabilizer, focusing slow and noisy Opinion: It is an excellent telephoto lens for those who begin to experiment with the focal length, the price at which I would say is that is just fine. The zoom range is large, you can cover more or less all need to zoom. The focus is fairly accurate, but it is definitely slow and noisy, but the real sore point is the lack of stabilizer, which can be heard on this type of goals. A 300mm sharpness suffers a bit 'but overall the quality is acceptable. The construction seems solid enough, the bayonet is made of metal and not plastic like other objectives canon in its price class. The professionals who need the stabilizer and an aperture diaphragm greater definitely not would choose, but for everyone else it seems a good compromise, considering the price.
sent on 28 Aprile 2013 Pros: price and focal length Cons: a disaster at focal lengths above 100 due to the lack of stabilizer, sometimes the AF makes a fuss but I'm price! Opinion: Bought in Bundle with the 400D, but as soon as you begin to understand what a true aperture, much as mentioned by others cambiare.Come Great for starters (especially for the price, even if it did not cost so much when I got it: - (), but change it as soon as possible! rnSenza svenarsi with the Canon with the edge of the board to move Tamron just put away another 200 €!
sent on 21 Aprile 2013 Pros: cost, 300 mm, lightness Cons: af slow and noisy, shoddy construction, lack full time manual focus, Opinion: I took it as the first tele, the price is attractive since the focal length in which it arrives, the construction is very plasticky, for this is very portable and lightweight. the af despite being slow and quite noisy, no mistake. Unfortunately, the front lens extends and rotates during focus, and the manual focus you are forced to disarm the af. is great in relation to the price for "deal" with the long focal length.
sent on 04 Marzo 2013 Pros: Economic 300mm, little size, weight Cons: Sharpness 0 poor, slow autofocus, build quality. Opinion: I've had this canvas in a kit with the 550D and I must say that if you search for the detail and clarity is a lens to be avoided, it was useful to learn what they mean in practical terms the lengths "tele" and therefore I would only recommend to those who want to experiment a little with as few Euros you have a tele with a high zoom range.
sent on 02 Marzo 2013 Pros: Price, 300mm, weight, short distance of maf allows close-up. Cons: Autofocus slow and noisy, poor quality 300 f5.6, poor build quality, lack internal focus, lack full time manual. Opinion: It 'was my first telephoto and helped me to orient myself in the world of photography. rnrnL'obiettivo is lightweight and compact, but the build quality leaves much to be desired (surprisingly the bayonet is made of metal!). rnMancano the internal and the full time manual focus and autofocus is very slow and noisy (although quite accurate on close subjects). rnPregio of this lens is to offer a telephoto lens that reaches 300mm at a low price (130 € new). The minimum focus of 1.5 meters allows discrete close-up.rnrnIn conclusion: great start to navigate the world SLR saw the price, but for those who have quite clear ideas, I suggest you save a bit more and take the good, but cheap, Tamron 70-300 vc usd.
