Pros: Excellent image quality with consistent sharpness throughout the focal range. Constant f/2.8 aperture for soft bokeh and great low-light performance. Very effective image stabilization system (up to 3.5 stops). Robust construction and resistant to dust and weather.

Cons: High weight, not ideal for long handheld sessions. Imposing size, not very discreet for reportage or casual events.

Opinion: The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM is one of the best telephoto lenses on the market, perfect for professional photographers looking for versatility and high performance. The image quality is extraordinary: impeccable sharpness, vibrant colors and wonderful bokeh thanks to the f/2.8 aperture. This makes it ideal for portraits, sports, wildlife and even landscapes, ensuring excellent results in almost any situation. The extremely effective optical stabilization helps compensate for weight and size, but after long sessions the weight can be tiring, especially without a monopod. The robust construction, typical of the L-series, is an advantage for those working in harsh conditions, but the price makes it a significant investment. In summary, the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS III USM is an exceptional lens, which repays every penny invested with breathtaking images and reliable performance.

Pros: Perfect focal range for arenas, 2.8, stabilizer, anti-glare treatment and internal zoom

Cons: Nothing of note

Opinion: I have owned the 2.8 version for more than 10 years, which is used to the hilt in all conditions. After trying the IS3 I couldn't help but upgrade. It is a stratospheric optic, with spectacular sharpness and a blur that is absolutely noteworthy. I didn't see any particular improvement on the MAF mounting it on the R6 compared to the 1Ds3 or 1Dx, which means either that I was lucky or that the optics are absolutely perfect. Mounted on the 1Ds3 it has a splendid performance, merging in the shots (portrait) the sharpness of a modern lens with a paste that brings you back to the film. Some time ago I was thinking of getting rid of it considering the little use considering that I use much more the 135/2 EF and lately also the adapted 135/2 C/Y, but in certain situations it is a "mandatory" lens. I tried the RF equivalent a few months ago and I was stunned by the size (it looks like a 24-70 2.8 first series), the sharpness and the effectiveness of the IS: I didn't make a side-by-side comparison but I have the impression that it is better. However, for those who work in arenas or in any case in the sports field, I think the EF version is better for two reasons: compatibility with TCs (with the 1.4/3 practically nothing changes in terms of AF and sharpness, I don't know with the 2x because I don't have it) and internal zoom: in arenas it often happens to put the body and optics on the ground, And in my opinion, having the "obligation" to retract the zoom before putting it down is a real disadvantage, not to mention that the possibility of pulling in the dust is real (even if very difficult). For studio or portrait use only, the size of the R version is absolutely an advantage. Advised? Absolutely ;)

Pros: Sharpness, F/2.8, AF speed, flare and backlight resistance, internal zoom, tropicalization.

Cons: I would have preferred a shorter minimum AF distance.

Opinion: Excellent optics, very versatile and reliable in any circumstance. The previous model, the EF 70-200MM F2.8L IS II USM, has accompanied me everywhere, sporting events, ceremonies, mountain excursions, included in nature photography, with and without extenders of the 3rd series, in short, an adventure companion that has never made a fuss even in the most extreme weather (snow, sea, rain, etc.). Now, after years of honorable service, it has been replaced with this latest version, the EF 70-200MM F/2.8L IS III USM. Apparently it would seem that there are no big news, already the previous version was fantastic, but the current one adds better backlight control, AF speed, greater overall sharpness, slightly improved stabilization, as well as the new coloring that improves its resistance to the heat of the sun, in addition to the legendary tropicalization (thanks also to the internal zoom), I think it's really worth the upgrade! Grade 10 laude!

Pros: comparing it to version 2 NONE

Cons: COMPARING IT TO VERSION 2. lack of sharpness.

Opinion: I decided to review this lens that I bought, kept three days and returned to the sender, because DISGUSTED by the non-quality of this optics. I don't know if I have trimmed a defective optics and to know I would have to try another. But this one, new, is really pitiful. I used it twice, at the Zarrillo concert, because I use this lens for concerts, and I had brought only this, the photos taken were blurred, blurred, without detail. A colleague of mine told me, look it was probably because of the lights that were actually quite poor. But the next day I went to the POOH concert and this time not to risk, given the event, I also brought version 2. At that point I had no more doubts. The optics were poor, not very sharp, not very focused and gave that blur effect. I repeat I do not know if the optics were defective, but I certainly had no intention of sending it to canon for a check and waste time. I can only say that if Canon makes a lens like this... Don't complain if you lose customers. I will try to borrow this lens, for another concert, but now they have almost all switched to sony and those who do not have sony have switched to mirroles and therefore has RF optics, so if you are going to buy this lens, I advise you to try it first... For concerts it is not good at all. For other things I don't know.

Pros: Sharpness, AF speed, price with the release of the new RF

Cons: Nothing to report

Opinion: I come from the first version of the 70 200 f 2.8, you can clearly see the difference in sharpness and speed of the AF, having never tried the mark II I can not give a judgment of comparison with the predecessor. the lens proves to be very resistant and ductile, you feel a bit the difference in weight with the new RF but the quality is not discussed, I tried it both on R3 and on 1DX and I did not notice any difference, it has always given its best on all occasions. Excellent UPGRADE from the first version.

Pros: Pretty much everything its predecessor had but with an improved yield in flare resistance and backlight management, slightly stronger stabilization, sharper sharpness at 2.8, improved speed ratio

Cons: not a real upgrade considering that it changes only in terms of yield and sharpness that (in my opinion) were not needed at all considering the quality of the predecessor, all this makes it practically meaningless considering also the advancement of the mirrorless optics.

Opinion: Tried and tested for two months, an exceptional lens, practically perfect on all its aspects but, does it really make sense to buy it ? Compared to its predecessor it has only improvements in terms of central sharpness and angles, a clearer stabilization at longer focal lengths and a slightly better speed ratio, and if we really have to say it all they could at least bring down the minimum focusing distance since it remains practically stationary at one meter and twenty ... I therefore reiterate that if the second version already offers a lot how useful could it be? For the rest it is really impeccable, colors, blurred, beautiful shades ... Definitive for portraits, sports, reportage even in very harsh conditions, its global yield is very close to the latest L, such as 85mm f1.4 and 24-70 f2.8, buying it is a guarantee for many uses but I believe that in any case our dearest Canon Mother House has made a big hole in the water.

Pros: Construction quality, lens quality, very bright.

Cons: nobody

Opinion: Never bought, but had available for work. Lens that I used for ceremonies until before March 2020, which results in excellent and sometimes spectacular results. Would I buy it? ... no! because if on the one hand it has a spectacular yield, on the other it captures too much light. I think I am one of the few photographers who does not like large focal openings, considering that I never go down under F4 even if I shoot at night, spend over 2000 for an F2.8 I find it useless and I would prefer to spend them on another type of lens. That doesn't alter the fact that this is a 10-in-one lens, worth every penny spent.

Pros: It is a lens of high quality and reliability, from the fluidity of the rings to the stabilizer, from absolute silence to the rendering of images. It's beautiful.

Cons: No

Opinion: I sweated "seven coats" to get her new. There is not much to say because you immediately see that the quality that churns out, amazing is superb. I haven't used it for a long time yet but from the first shots you can tell it's a great product. I reluctantly sold the Ef 80 200 f2.8 L after 30 years of beautiful photos, but the speed of focus, the efficiency of the stabilizer of the EF 70 200 IS III L and the sharpness comes out the winner great.

Pros: Sharpness, flare control, color rendition, build quality

Cons: Maybe just the selling price

Opinion: What about... Simply the ultimate in the focal one for the Canon world, lens really of excellent quality and widely exploitable also duplicated, really remarkable build quality and performance from "Top of the range" What would you want more? It's true it's not a completely new lens but an update of the II series... Yes, but..... That update, now in addition to all the other features that make it an excellent lens, even the control of the flare that was the weak point of the II series has been decidedly improved. Being able to do it is to be bought with eyes closed.

Pros: The quality L to the height of its fame.

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: I Come from the same lens Mark II, who had "exhausted" for too much work.... I changed it just to look for a better approach to backlighting and grazing lights... For me necessary for my work in the field of Coreutics. The difference you see a lot. The Controluci control has markedly improved (even if the miracles do not exist), but it manages to bear the detail much better, in the theater where precisely the differences disposition are enormous. They Say the stabilizer is better, but I, working at least a 500th, never use it... I did some experiments, and with my hand not steadfast I made sharp images at 1/45 second to 200mm, and I do not seem to little, but I work I do not use it so I do not know anything more.

Pros: Flare, sharpness

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: I owned the 2.8 II, it was practically unmanageable when used for landscape under grazing light, the ghosting made the frame illegible and the flare was very marked. Finally, with this update, the problem is solved and, at first impression, the images are much more faithful and sharper than the previous model. As an update, the aesthetics remained unchanged

Pros: Quality, robustness, houses supplied.

Cons: Maybe the price? Maybe the weight?

Opinion: I state that being a beginner in the photographic field I can not call myself expert to be able to evaluate a lens (so please take with the pliers my statements and in case of explaining where I am erro in my review hot), however I got to try it thanks To my friend as well as colleague Pierghitti. Having supplied a 70-200 f4 L of 99 ' the differences are abygenal. The first thing that strikes you is the feeling of robustness mixed with the image quality that you can get with the PP and mounting it on my humble 800d I managed to take a picture to the incredibly beautiful full moon! The actual weighs a lot more than the old 70-200 but the 2.8 and the double stabilization affect in this regard. I hope to have the chance to "play" again and bring back more impressions on this intriguing Japanese gem!
