Pros: Price, Diaphragm, Construction, Vintage Look

Cons: MF too sensitive, rings without clicks, loss of definition at the image edges

Opinion: Small lens from Chinese brand 7Artisans, paid €. 70.00 on Amazon, so on the cost side real deal. It is usually delivered in a nice box together with a cleaning kit giving an idea of a premium product. After unboxing it is compact and actually well built as it is all metal. Being completely manual, diaphragms and focus are all managed directly on the lens with two rings (too) close together, but you get used to it. The problems, however, arise immediately at the first use: the aperture ring really screams some form of mechanical contrast: accompanying the passage of the apertures with clicks would have been very welcome. Instead, unfortunately, the ring turns and turns with a buttery look and it is something that personally bothers me a bit. Tested in combo with Panasonic Lumix G90 with good results for the street. The decent size of the lens doesn't attract much attention, which is a good thing. Technically, if you focus (even the one a little nervous following the second ring which is also just as buttery and prone to punishing you at the slightest millimeter error), it presents a very sharp and absolutely well-defined image center, while moving to the edges of the photo, you notice a degradation of the quality of definition, even at medium-small apertures. Personally I find it a nice lens for what it costs, very suitable for black and white, but which needs a good dose of patience when approaching the use of its rings during composition. So perfect for a bit of slow photography, but if you want ultra definition with lightning performance, definitely look elsewhere.

Pros: Definition, colors, price, looks sturdy, aperture.

Cons: It is very difficult to focus correctly, especially at infinity.

Opinion: Taken used with other optics 7 artisan, 12 f 2.8, 25 f 1.8, 35 f 1.2 and 55 f 1.4 at very low price. I tested it on a 16-megapixel Sony Nex-5 R with an external electronic viewfinder. For now, only on landscapes. I had an old Nikon 24 f 2.8 AI-S available at home and out of curiosity I compared them to infinity, nothing rigorous, but the 7artisan for me solves more, has brighter colors and at the same aperture set and subject feels brighter (the times are faster than the Nikon). It is very difficult to focus on infinity, not because it is manual but because in a few mm you can go from 5 m to infinity and more. Incorrect focus affects resolution. A longer focus would be needed so that more accurate focus could be focused. With focus peaking you can't zoom in and make micro micro millimeter shifts. If you get the focus right, the results are pleasing. I haven't tried it for closer subjects.

Pros: nobody

Cons: all

Opinion: PdC scale farlocca, exaggerated internal reflections, sharpness last of the class, infinity goes into random focus... Sloppy colors, de-declicated diaphragm beautiful but that does not make you understand the transition from one diaphragm to another. One of the worst optics ever possessed and tried and through circles or my Facebook group Fotogitando I have tried so many. Returned without repentance

Pros: Price.

Cons: Bad

Opinion: I have several 7artisans goals and of all I am more than satisfied but this is really bad two things in particular: at F16 it has a blue reflection in the center of the image and the rings even if they are soft you feel that scratch, from them goddess who after a few turns you are with a metal chip on the sensor. very failed

Pros: Price, sharpness in the center of the image, fluid iris ring

Cons: Poor quality at the edges of the image, slight bubble distortion in the center of the image between f/8 and f/16, unusable in backlight, vignetting, too soft rings

Opinion: Purchased branded Neewer, the quality of the image is acceptable only in the center, approaching the edges you have a very sudden ness of sharpness. This view is in no way suitable for shooting subjects at long distances, let alone landscapes. It lends itself much more to open use, when you intend to highlight a specific detail and not the entire image. Vignetting, especially if increased in post-production, is very useful for "lomo" photography. Overall it's a lens worth what it costs

Pros: cost, focal length useful for set portraits

Cons: poor sharpness (of my specimen), nervous bokeh, poor detail yield in the highlights

Opinion: Purchased used branded Neewer, at TA not my specimen is absolutely not sharp, indeed I would call it decidedly soft. It definitely suffers the light, even if it is indirect. Backlight is unusable. Indoors it goes much better. The detachment of the floors is discreet, but the bokeh is nervous. The chromatic yield is rather washed down. Overall, a lens that is worth what it costs: little. Preferred in all respects the Meike 25mm f/1.8.

Pros: Sharpness at the center already at TA

Cons: Focus loss on the focal plane on the lateral half of the frame

Opinion: I was intrigued by the Chinese manufacturing targets that are on sale on the internet at less than 90 euros, I took the neewer 25 mm 1.8; Looking at it looks like the 7artisan 25 mm, is identical, even the cap. Obviously manual controls for aperture and focus, with focus peaking. Quite fluid ring nuts. Since there are no electrical contacts it does not transfer the EXIF data of the click. I did some testing on the outside, on Sony a6000. First of all, I note that the center is sharper than the kit 16-50 already at F2, at 2.8 improves slightly, 4 improves yet but in a completely negligible. It seems that it is sharp up to about half a distance between the center and the extreme edge, then it worded sharply, I saw the roof of the house that suddenly lost sharpness (which then remains that up almost to the extreme edge, where it is bad), not in a progressive way. In These parts it looks worse than the kit. Infinitely regulated, practically everything is in focus starting from the distance of 20 meters from me until the infinity (about, what I was framing was 7 km). Sharpness at the center even better than the kit, with the usual sharpness loss starting from half way. So if the purpose is to frame something in the middle of the frame, blurting the outer part, is certainly discreet; If you have to cross something that is at 2/3 of the distance from the center to the outer edge, we go wrong. In addition, it suffers by framing objects in backlight as chromatic aberration and flare. I have not noticed distortion, if not to a minimal extent. I did the tests looking at the images with the automatic adjustments in Capture One, with the kit the color rendition is better, probably takes advantage of the profile present, while with the other one uses a generic and the yield is a bit ' vintage. A wall of stones, from SX to DX of the frame and occupies the third central height, a little further down, distance 8 meters, 16-50 to f 4.5, neewer to F 1.8, F2, F 2.4, f 2.8. With the kit the image is evenly in focus, the other in focus the center, less around, to fire the floor at 2-3 meters from the wall. Then a wall of wood grilled with the ivy, distance 5 meters, same diaphragms: The center does not focus, moving away from the center in focus, and even a little ' floor. To f2.8! A few tens of inches of depth of field. At first it seemed to me that he had uneven behavior between different areas of the frame, then instead it seems that it is because the distance of the focus, initially starting from the center varies little, then half frame curve approaching suddenly to Me. With out of focus, I mean really blurry, and having as a comparison the two walls does not affect certain areas of the image, it seems a feature of the lens have this "curvature" that determines areas in focus and not, if I focus in the middle of the wall at the bottom is Blurry while it is in focus on the floor, if I focus the wall further down it becomes less in focus the center of the wall, while it is in focus a wall that is lateral and closer to me... If you imagine looking from above is like drawing an ellipse arc against the wall, starting from the center the Curve little line, then the curvature increases a lot and tends to approach the side... maybe it is the same effect of the optics for non-planar microscope, the most Economic, the image is curved on the sensor, if you focus in the center you have the outline blurred and vice versa. If you photographed 2 people, it is sure that one does not come into focus. It's not for me. It's a pity, because at the center where it is in focus is clearly sharper than the kit, even at F2.

Pros: Well built, economical, old-fashioned optics, sharpness

Cons: Focus sometimes problematic, focus ring too soft that sometimes can move by ruining the photo

Opinion: It was a little bit that this lens intrigued me: the reviews on the Internet were enthusiastic or catastrophic without any middle ground, someone talked about the lens sent back to the sender. And so I found an opportunity that I did not let slip. I'm used to the time of film to the whole manual management, so the 7Artisans was a nice return to the past: Focus in aperture open, close the diaphragm, shots. But you have to be very careful: by closing the aperture ring you can move that of the focus with great ease. With a little attention this optics reveals its qualities and shows a good incision with the most closed apersions. Being a lens produced with various attacks does not have a real infinity but requires caution even in the focus of the most distant subjects.

Pros: Sharpness, color, contrast, mechanics

Cons: Manual focus that requires "tutorial"

Opinion: Bought by mistake on Amazon, I was not interested in having it, but a hasty "click" did everything:(........ instead a great surprise!!! Arrived complete with everything planned, even the useless rag to clean the objectives and manuals in "Mandarin", immediately tested on FUJI XE2, very good sharpness! At the moment the mechanical construction looks good, "hardness" right and fluid nuts without jams, the aperture ring without "clicks" does not me any problem, graft on the camera body smoothly or strange hardness, I read of: Distortions to the sides, Flare effect, chromatic aberrations.... bò!!! Only the "flare" gets a little feel, little stuff, probably if it was marketed with brands "TOP" and consequent prices, would be judged an excellent prodotto.......ma, when you spend a capital for a lens "to force" must be excellent, ehehehhe;) It is certainly not intended for ' pixel hunters ', or who judges the beautiful images only from the "technical perfection" but a beautiful image is made especially by the "head" and "the eye" of the photographer, everything else is just academy... with FUJI (of which I am stracontento) It offers a good pairing.

Pros: Price Construction Weight Size

Cons: He's suffering a little light, fluid aperture ring.

Opinion: On Fujifilm camera is a good lens, light and small. Yes can safely use already from 1.8, very bright. The aperture ring is not jerky, you have to be careful not to move it. It's a bit soft at the sides up to F4, then it picks up. Perhaps it distorts a bit ' always on the extreme sides, but you notice only on sea horizons, what I would say tolerable and certainly correctable in pp. It has an excellent control of manual MAF, small fixes and everything is easily in focus for objects over 3 meters. It costs less than €100, it's a great buy.

Pros: Lightness, E-mount attachment (so no adaptor), construction, yield at TA

Cons: Very little resistance to flare, fluid aperture ring and not jerky. Nothing else (considered the cost)

Opinion: I received this lens (and am waiting for the 55mm F 1.4) as a tester and I tested it on Sony a6300. What about? I don't feel the lack of AF and it was immediately love with this lens. Given the use I make of the ML Sony house (ie photos for social, personal project, inspections, video tutorials and travel), I think I'm very satisfied with the lens and I must say that I was really amazed by its sharpness at open aperture. The only 2 flaws that I have encountered are a bad resistance to flare and the ring of the fluid aperture (not jerky), so you have to be careful not to move it inadvertently given the size of the lens. I created a gallery on my profile where I'm just uploading photos taken with Sony. Some are with these lenses.
