2025 - Enna

Sacred Sicily - Holy Week rituals in the timeless city of Enna --------------- Enna is a city at the center of Sicily, shaped by layers of history and devotion. During Holy Week, its ancient streets host one of the most striking religious traditions, a ritual calendar structured by confraternities, tracing their roots to the Spanish rule of the 16th and 17th centuries. Each group has its own identity: colors, symbols, and a precise role within the collective choreography of the days leading to Easter. The result is both solemn and dramatic, a powerful display of continuity and belief. But beyond the official processions, other rhythms emerge. This series portrays personal moments, where humanity unfolds through gestures, fleeting glances, and expressions, often on the margins of official events.
