 Quartiere Gallaratese - Milano

Il Quartiere Gallaratese è una grande area residenziale costruita alla periferia nord-ovest di Milano, su terreni precedentemente adibiti a uso agricolo. Il progetto iniziale, preparato dall'architetto Piero Bottoni nel 1956 e in seguito più volte modificato dai diversi soggetti coinvolti (IACP, Comune di Milano, Ministero dei Lavori Pubblici), prevedeva un nucleo abitativo relativamente autonomo, dotato di tutti i servizi necessari ai residenti e di aree dedicate ad attività commerciali e industriali. In realtà le diverse fasi costruttive hanno disatteso questo piano e sono state realizzate in modo non coordinato, privilegiando solamente l'edilizia abitativa, cosicché la zona si è configurata come un "quartiere dormitorio" i cui residenti devono dipendere dalla vicina città o da altre zone limitrofe per il lavoro e, in molti casi, anche per i servizi; ad esempio i negozi sono scarsi e insufficienti. Il quartiere ha molte aree verdi, ed è attraversato dalla linea 1 della metropolitana che in una ventina di minuti lo collega con il centro della città; elementi che forse lo rendono una zona più vivibile rispetto ad altre situazioni della periferia milanese. Questa serie di fotografie è stata scattata nel luglio-agosto 2016.
