Nel regno dei lupi

Nell'ultima settimana di giugno con tre compagni di viaggio mi sono recato a Kuhmo, nell'est della Finlandia, con l'obiettivo di fotografare i lupi per la prima volta. Una coppia di lupi era stata vista visitare regolarmente la zona nelle ultime settimane e le nostre aspettative erano alte. Il piano era di restare per 2 notti in un capanno che si trova a meno di 2 km dal confine con la Russia, in un'area chiamata Paradise Lake dove i lupi erano stati avvistati più frequentemente nelle ultime settimane. Il capanno si trova sulle rive di un laghetto, in un'ambientazione splendida che in questo periodo è impreziosita dalla fioritura dei bianchi pennacchi dell'erba di cotone. Abbiamo atteso a lungo ma alle prime luci del giorno la nostra attesa è stata premiata quando una splendida coppia di lupi è emersa dal bosco. La coppia ha fatto il giro dell'area e ha camminato accanto alla riva del laghetto proprio di fronte al nostro capanno offrendoci momenti fotografici emozionanti e indimenticabili. Il nostro obiettivo era stato raggiunto.
