Il gruppo etnico�Sundanese è una popolazione indonesiana nativa della regione occidentale dell'isola di Giava. Il regno Sundanese raggiunse il suo apice tra il 1482 e il 1521, durante il regno del re Maharaja Sri Baduga,�che viene ricordato come un periodo di pace e grande prosperità. I lavori che svolgono i Sundanesi�sono gli antichi mestieri che sono stati tramandati di generazione in generazione, in particolare è molto importante la coltivazione del riso: la cultura, le credenze e le tradizioni sundanesi sono solitamente incentrate sul ciclo agricolo del riso. Altri�mestieri tradizionali sundanesi sono la produzione di ombrelli di carta e manufatti di ceramica, la tintura di tessuti, la tessitura di reti da pesca e l'essiccazione�del pesce, la raccolta di gigli d'acqua.
