La regione di Maramures si trova nel Nord della Romania, al confine con l'Ucraina. E' un'area montuosa ricca di boschi e valli, dove il tempo sembra essersi fermato: pastori, contadini e artigiani vivono e lavorano come facevano i loro antenati secoli fa, seguendo le loro antiche tradizioni e indossando i tipici costumi. I villaggi sono formati da tradizionali case in legno e non c'è casa senza animali. L'esperienza più bella è stata conoscere gli abitanti del Maramures, con la loro genuinità e semplicità, la loro anima pura e felice, la loro calorosa accoglienza e disponibilità.
