 The place of the soul

I borghi delle Colline Metallifere sono molto antichi, spesso fondati dalle popolazioni germaniche nel VIII o IX secolo. Dall'alto delle loro ripide colline si possono scorgere luoghi lontani decine o centinaia di chilometri: la costa toscana di S. Vincenzo, le Alpi Apuane e il susseguirsi di vette e selle terminanti con il Monte Cimone. La posizione dominante, tra le valli del Merse e del Cecina li posero nel passato, in una posizione cruciale per le vie commerciali che univano questi due lembi di toscana: La Repubblica di Siena a sud e il potere dei Vescovi di Volterra a nord. Gli abitanti sono persone autentiche, figli di coloro che invece di emigrare verso i centri di Colle val d'Elsa e Poggibonsi, decisero di non abbandonare pur a prezzo di grandi sacrifici i luoghi dove avevano sempre vissuto. Le fotografie in questa galleria sono una piccola ed incompleta dedica a queste splendide persone (contadini, muratori, pastori, taglialegna...). Alle prime, istantanee del difficile periodo primaverile dell'emergenza sanitaria, ne seguiranno altre con l'umile volontà di documentare una realtà che ancora traspare e che si dovrà tramandare.
