Monti Sibillini

I MONTI SIBILLINI hanno sempre esercitato un 'fascino dark' sull'immaginazione dei popoli di tutta Europa. Il nome della catena montuosa deriva dal monte dov'era la grotta dell'antico oracolo della Sibilla Appenninica. Toponimi come Pizzo del Diavolo o gola dell'Infernaccio tramandano una sinistra fama nata nel medioevo. Una leggenda vuole che Ponzio Pilato, condannato da Tiberio a morte senza sepoltura e legato su un carro di bufali, precipitasse nel lago che porta il suo nome, a quasi 2000 metri sotto la cima del monte Vettore che sovrasta la piana di Castelluccio.
