Falconidi

Il Falco grillaio, il Gheppio ed il Falco cuculo appartengono alla famiglia dei Falconidi, dell'ordine dei Falconiformi; tali rapaci si distinguono dagli Accipitriformi per la particolare forma a falce che assume il corpo durante il volo, per le modalità predatorie (infatti sono in grado di uccidere le prede anche con il becco dotato di un'intaccatura nella parte superiore) ed anche per l'incapacità di costruire il nido, infatti per la nidificazione utilizzano vecchi nidi di corvidi o scavano in piccoli anfratti che trovano su pareti rocciose. Per alcuni di essi (Falco cuculo e Grillaio) vengono create apposite cassette nido.
