Il Carnevale di Mamoiada

Il 17 Gennaio di ogni anno, Mamuthones e Issohadores aprono il Carnevale di Mamoiada e praticamente quello di tutta la Sardegna. Molto sentita e partecipata non solo dai mamoiadini, ma praticamente da tutta l'isola ed anche dai "continentali", questa festa inizia nel primo pomeriggio con la vestizione e continua poi attraverso tutto il paese. 12 Mamuthones e 8 Issohadores percorrono tutto il paese per ballare attorno a enormi fuochi accesi praticamente in ogni rione, in onore di S. Antonio Abate (Sant'Antoni 'e su fogu). Finito il ballo, attorno ad ogni fuoco si rinnova l'invito (su cumbidu) a bere un bicchiere di vino accompagnato dai dolci tipici di Mamoiada, preparati per l'occasione.
