CARNEVALE A VENEZIA Vanno le gondole lente sul canale ci sono maschere del Carnevale. Altre maschere sono alla Salute si inchinano con eleganza e sono mute. Lungo le fondamenta balla Pulcinella e la musica è la tarantella. Arlecchino sogna la mortadella ma chi la mangia è Pantalone che è stato un gran riccone. Ricco è anche Balanzone che si crede un sapientone ma nessuno si fa curare per paura di morire, lo pagano con le monetine ma non vogliono prendere le sue medicine. Il mimo nel campiello è il segno della poesia ma il suo lenzuolo bianco nasconde la malinconia: è un'esile fanciulla con la faccia infarinata, si muove piano piano quasi pietrificata.
