Valle del Belice, quest'area nel 1968 fu sconvolta da un fortissimo terremoto che distrusse i paesi di Montevago, Salaparuta, Gibellina e Poggioreale. Il sisma causò quasi trecento vittime e oltre settantamila sfollati. Gibellina e Poggioreale furono cancellate e successivamente ricostruite in nuovi siti, in questa galleria ciò che resta di Poggioreale "vecchia" e qualche scatto di Gibellina nuova. Per quanto concerne la ricostruzione di Gibellina furono invitati architetti e artisti dell'epoca che fornirono il loro apporto, tra i tanti Albero Burri che sui ruderi della cittadina distrutta costruì il suo celeberrimo Cretto.
