Nikon AF-P DX 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Pros: Extreme Portability, VR Stabilization, Silent AF, Value for Money Cons: "Plasticky" construction, Limited compatibility, Modest aperture, Chromatic aberrations Opinion: The Nikon 10-20mm AF-P is for those looking for a pushed wide-angle without breaking the bank or straining their back while hiking. Very compact, once assembled it offers angles of view up to 110°. The yield in the center is good for such an inexpensive lens. The distortion at 10mm is present but well manageable via software, quite resistant to flare, sometimes it suffers from chromatic aberrations correctable via software, it remains a bit dark with its range f/4.5-5.6 For landscapes and architecture, closing at f/8, the results are absolutely enjoyable for advanced amateur use. The focus is instantaneous and silent, sometimes it seems not working. A sore point is Nikon's choice to remove the physical selectors: to deactivate VR or switch to manual you have to use the menus of the reflex (if the body allows it), I with D7200 I can't turn off VR. So before purchasing, check if it is compatible with your camera body. The bayonet is not metallic. However, I recommend it for those who are just starting out or want to explore the world of ultra-wide-angle focal lengths without spending a fortune sent on 10 Aprile 2026 |

Nikon AF-S DX 16-80mm f/2.8-4 E ED VR Pros: Focal Range, N-Class Optics, VR Stabilization, Fast & Accurate SWM Autofocus, Electromagnetic Aperture, Weight & Balance, Give the Ultimate Shot in RAW Cons: Optical distortion at 16mm, Vignetting, External materials, Cost Opinion: It was the kit lens of the Nikon D500 and perhaps one of the best for the APS-C format. I used this lens on the Nikon D7200 and it is an ultimate "all-rounder" zoom for small format. The 24-megapixel sensor of the D7200, without a low-pass filter, finally finds an optic capable of resolving every detail: the sharpness in the center is stunning already at full aperture over the entire focal range. A fundamental technical aspect is to keep the firmware of the reflex camera (version 1.04 for the D7200) and the Distortion Control Data (L) updated to version 2.018, vital to ensure full compatibility with the electronic diaphragm (abbreviation "E") and to allow the camera body to correctly recognize the lens profile. By working exclusively in RAW and developing files with Photoshop (Adobe Camera Raw), distortion and vignetting defects cease to be a problem: by activating the lens correction profile, images become geometrically perfect in an instant. This lens returns rows with vibrant colors and backlight management that cheap kit optics can't even dream of, especially when used with a polarizing filter. The autofocus is lightning-fast and doesn't miss a beat, allowing you to quickly switch from street reportage to set portraiture. The choice of polycarbonate for the barrel may make purists turn up their noses, but the gain is in terms of portability and does not tire during the entire days of walking. The purchase price is important, even for used cars, but the image quality and versatility it returns fully justify the investment for anyone who wants to squeeze the most out of the DX system without having to switch to full frame. sent on 29 Marzo 2026 |
