Pros: Beautiful "pastel" color rendering of the sensor - Exceptional level of fine detail - Good dynamic range in highlights - Excellent lens park, often cheap

Cons: Big and heavy - Archaic menus - Functional AF but unsuitable for anything in motion - Max 200 ISO to have really usable files - Exposures even of a few seconds due to no artifacts - Price still high - Not easy availability of batteries

Opinion: Discovered by me with unforgivable delay, it has quickly become one of my favorite cameras of all time, the performance of the Dalsa CCD sensor is unique, with a chromatic signature tending to unmistakable warmth and "vintage" in a good way (at least for me), accompanied however by an acuteness and a level of fine detail difficult to imagine for a sensor of "only" 22MP. With appropriate PP, the files can easily resemble those of Foveon X3 in terms of "crunchiness" and "materiality" of the images, but at the same time you can also obtain wonderful portraits with excellent skin tones. You cannot underexpose the shadows under penalty of noise, but on the other hand the hold on the highlights is very good and allows respectable recoveries. Sore points are obviously the difficulty of finding a specimen in good condition at a "humane" price, the batteries are also expensive and running out, the non-repairability of the object in case of breakage. The consolation is that the Mamiya AF lenses are really good and can be found at very low prices (without bothering the much more expensive, and even better, Schneider-Kreutznach). Overall a must-have camera for any photography enthusiast a little "different".
