I consider myself lucky because I was born, raised and I am living in the middle of Europe's biggest inland island called Great Rye Island (?itný ostrov). The region of Great Rye Island and the Danube's branch network creates an unparalleled ecosystem that is rich and diverse. This ecosystem consists of a variegated collective of field, forest and water habitats, and their specific wildlife. Birds are an indispensable part of this landscape, since they are the most conspicuous and most common vertebrates of the Great Rye Island. For this very reason, it should not be surprising that they are the main subjects of my photography. I would like to show this fragile and vulnerable world through them, which most of us do not notice in our rushing everyday lives. During my work of photographing, I witness many wonderful moments, which are day-to-day routines in our bird-neighbours' lives. I try to capture these precious moments. I do this with the utmost honour, respect and protection of the environment. Bird photography is a very challenging endeavor, requiring specialized skills, equipment and also a thorough understanding of avian behavior and habitat. Most importantly, the photographer has to have deep love and appreciation for their subjects. For me bird photography is a way to stop time. It's a way to capture a memory, a moment or perhaps even a feeling.
