sony_a9Sony A9

Pros: general quality of the camera, compact but sturdy lightweight construction, autofocus, high ISO holding, battery life, double SD slot, many customizable keys.

Cons: For what is my use: the fliker also with mechanical shutter.

Opinion: I have been using this camera for 5 years, it has taken over 2 and a half million shots and has changed only 2 shutters, it has fallen a couple of times but has only suffered a few scratches, and I still use it side by side with the A9ii. This camera has everything a professional needs: totally silent shot, super precise AF that locks on and follows the subjects well, double memory slots, a good battery life, a number of pixels that is not excessive but not miserable either, a RAW file of excellent quality that can be pushed high with the ISO (I use it up to 8000 usually). I also had the opportunity to use it under a very heavy rain (about an hour and a half) and it didn't give me any kind of problem, so it also has a good weather seal. The flaw, on the other hand, is the absence of anti fliker with mechanical shutter, a bad lack, not tragic but still annoying. In conclusion, my experience is super positive, especially today in 2024 that with less than 2 thousand euros you can take home a high-end professional tool.

Pros: autofocus, quality of files and colors, which even at very high ISO remain of excellent quality, general speed of the camera, double SD slot.

Cons: not noteworthy for my use

Opinion: taken more for the desire to have it than for utility, I deal with wedding photography and ceremonies so my A7iii and the A9 first version were more than fine. however, this room is an improvement of the already excellent A9. Among the pros I certainly put the autofocus with which I feel good, the high ISO performance which is one of the best you see around, and the quality of the files it returns. The double SD slot for a simple strictly personal reason: I have the possibility with a low expense to have dozens of memory cards always ready to use, and when I find myself doing 20 or even 30 services in a row, it is useful for me to be able to make a backup on the fly on the computer and not have to immediately format the SD cards that I put aside. As for the cons it will certainly have some, but as far as my job is concerned I have not found any, indeed it offers more than what I need.

sony_a7iiiSony A7 III

Pros: General quality of the camera, of the files it produces (even compressed raw), a very full-bodied JPG for those who need it, manageability, autofocus, high ISO seal, in my opinion it has written a page of recent history in the mirrorless field.

Cons: Electronic shutter unusable in many areas.

Opinion: I have this room since 2019, it has made about 1 million and 500 thousand shots (I filled a dozen hard disks) now has various stripping and scratches, it has also taken some blows, but it has never given me problems, I think it is a perfect work tool considering the purchase price. It uses two SD slots that don't cost a ruckus and thus allow me to work with simultaneous backup, without worrying about the number of cards I fill. It is very light and after 12 hours of service (here weddings last a long time) it makes the difference. It has beautiful raw files and with compressed raw you can hardly find the differences, so if you need to save space, you can rest assured of using them. Electronic shutter, obviously totally silent, but the limits of the sensor mean that you can almost never use it, too bad, because in the A9 I always use it. In conclusion: for what is my experience, I consider myself 100% satisfied, when I bought it had no equal in its segment, and even today for those who work there in my opinion it is the best choice, with a right expense you have a professional tool that allows you to deliver excellent photos and leave customers satisfied (especially that almost all of the latter will never notice the difference of a final shot made by an A7iii or a 5Dmkii); that's why I prefer it and I still consider it a valid PROFESSIONAL choice compared to other more modern cameras.
