![]() | Nikon Z30 Pros: size, weight and unbeatable value for money Cons: ISO tightness but with APSC you can't expect too much, lack of viewfinder Opinion: I bought this ML to do birdlife with ground camera and it did not disappoint. Everyone advised me against it at the beginning, those who didn't try it, as always, then reading a review by a competent person and an old photographer like me I decided. I found an offer on prime day and I took it home for very little (Kit) compared to what this small mirrorless can give, simply perfect and with jpg ready immediately. My galleries speak for themselves, I've had D800 and D500 and never missed them. With avifauna on the pose sometimes the viewfinder would be useful but it is not a problem since I mainly use it in darkened environments for camouflage. Because of this lack it is not recommended in wandering hunting and outdoors of course, as a perfect hide. Like all nikon mls, it works very well with its Z lenses, even if I adapted it with an old 400 2.8. With adapter the fire is not always perfect while becoming a sniper with native z. You will have to get used to the idea that the future will be on native z lenses, the beautiful afd and afs will remain a nice memory to use with reflex cameras. sent on September 08, 2024 |
![]() | Sigma 400 f/5.6 HSM Apo Macro Pros: Sharpness, weight, transportability, used price Cons: Tires that tend to spoil, built-in paralight that tends to get stuck. With new generation reflex set to 3d autofocus unstable and dancer, obviously not having internal engine even slow. Opinion: Although I already had it, but with mold, and own the original Nikon 400 2.8 I bought it used for two pennies. Reason? No one in particular, maybe a little nostalgic because it was my first lens for birdlife. I'll use it because weight and size allow me to carry it around easily. The quality, for the price and date is still great! You can really have less of the cost of a multiplier and you can have fun thanks to the long focal and the minimum focus distance that makes it become a canvas for macros. the autofocus is slow and often unstable, it has its slices listed but it has from its beauty to be a good canvas not too heavy and not to suffer from the typical defects of zooms. I think I use it for light exits or where there really is so much to walk. With this combo (machine plus goal) reduced in weight and length I can really take it anywhere. sent on January 27, 2020 |
![]() | Nikon AF-S 400mm f/2.8 D ED II Pros: Extraordinary image quality, blurred top, to date the affordable price Cons: Weight and footprint Opinion: An extraordinary optics, nothing to say, despite age creates incredible files, even at high iso the noise becomes acceptable. Bought for the price, today it is accessible even if many people are discouraged by the age factor but in this case it is not felt for both autofocus and generated files. I used it on the d500 for birdlife and by comparison everything I shoot with extreme zooms is unparalleled. You pay for the high weight and the little handling even if it holds up well with the monopod and the clutch head. An optics to be used in a fixed position, for dynamic shots or wandering hunting you have to resort to something else. The smooth use with multiplier 1.7 where closing 1 or 2 diaphragms does not show particular decays both as sharpness and as autofocus. sent on August 23, 2019 |
![]() | Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Pros: Ease of use freehand, lightness, autofocus speed, stabilization, sharpness, tropicalization, focal range Cons: Diaphragm at 6.3 at maximum focal (but otherwise it would not have been so light), some chromatic aberration at 600 mm Opinion: Despite the many criticisms read on the net I decided to buy the lens considering it perfect for the use that I do. I needed a zoommone for birdlife and wildlife that could be manageable in the shots on the fly, lurking in the cabin, in itinerant hunting. This well built and lightweight lens allows all of this with enviable image quality. The price has dropped a lot lately, so reading the features at the present time is unthinkable to find anything else on the market that can compete. Unbeatable price quality at the moment, functionality above the two closest competitors. sent on May 18, 2019 |
