Pros: AF Stabilized sensor Focus Peaking Speed Sensor protect curtain Starlight mode

Cons: Viewfinder Battery life Door and slot Memory Charger Charging time and AF in low light conditions

Opinion: Without going into the myriad of possible customizations in which it is easy to get lost, I will limit myself to describing the first impressions on the essential aspects found compared to reflex cameras such as the D850 and D4s that I have used so far. Autofocus is certainly a plus point for speed and subject recognition except in poor light conditions where reflex cameras lock more easily. Another point to the advantage is the impressive burst which is certainly useful for those who take sports photos. Other aspects that are not essential, but which are a good support if you use manual focus lenses, are the focus peaking in the viewfinder, which helps a lot compared to the reference of the green dot of the reflex cameras and the stabilization in the sensor that makes even the optics that are not stabilized, finally the Starry Sky mode makes the scene visible even in the dark. As against the battery life, as the resources required to power the viewfinder, display etc are certainly higher than those needed for a reflex and therefore it follows a very reduced autonomy compared to the latter. Even the charger is not up to that of the reflex flagships, cheaper with a remarkable duration for recharging and with a single charging slot when for the shorter life of the battery it would have been even more logical to have 2. Another detail that could have been more cared for in my opinion is the memory flap, not easy to open as in reflex flagships and the memory slots which, being spring-loaded, I think are much more fragile than the previous ejection system with the button. Finally, the viewfinder: pleasant even for those who come from reflex cameras, it allows you to see the final result of the photo and if you want you can do without reading the exposure meter but it has the "defect" (even if this can be a subjective aspect) of making the medium used appear a bit artificial and lose that charm that reflex cameras have, with which it was possible, among other things, to "look" with the camera off to get an idea of the composition. Ditto for the simulation of the shot, a ridiculous imitation of the shutter CLICK and that in conditions of particular noise you can't even hear (even if in opposite situations it is useful to be able to silence it completely). For these reasons I think that those who love photography and also technology should have both ML and Reflex and use them according to the needs deriving from the genre and the way of photographing at the moment. As for the video aspect I do not express myself, because as far as I am concerned, if there was a camera like the old D3X or 1DSMKIII, without video compartment, I would certainly prefer it.

zeiss_milvus135_f2Zeiss Milvus 135mm f/2

Pros: Build quality, Sharpness, three-dimensionality, colors, Bokeh

Cons: Front Cap, MAF Rubber Bezel

Opinion: Great optics that equals its famous predecessor APO DISTAGON 135/2 Classic, of which it maintains the same optical scheme but with the addition of tropicalization. Sharp already at f/2, detachment on the planes, colors and Bokeh make it a reference for this focal length. I do not think the front cap is up to this jewel (but it is a flaw already known in all the Zeiss Classic and Milvus) and the rubbery bezel that is easily marked. The stroke of the bezel is long and frictioned in the right way and allows you to easily find the focus but it is equally easy to lose it even if you have surgeon's hands, and especially if you work with open apertures, you risk losing many shots; for this it would be good to use it with the support of a tripod .. but those who buy a manual 135/2 this should already 'take into account .. RATING : 9,9
