![]() | Sigma 500mm f/4 DG OS HSM Sport Pros: Construction quality, autofocus and sharpness Cons: At the moment no one Opinion: I've had this lens for about 10 days, so a real opinion at the moment is too early to give it. Used only twice, one from a mobile shed with tripod + gimbal and one out in the mountains with a free hand, certainly to be noted its sharpness, amazing. Purchased used by famous physical store, compared to the Zoom Tamron 150-600 G2 there is no comparison, especially for the same focal length... the Tamron after 500mm lost in sharpness. Certainly the freehand weight is felt, but this is a feature that is known at the time of purchase and to be budgeted. Weight however well balanced and the various features available allow you to customize it to your liking (some i probably will never need to use them). Optical qualities and construction materials from top of the range, starting from the carbon lampshed. I didn't consider the Nikon 500 FL consideration, simply because it was out of budget for my chances. I asked the store "in advance" for autofocus calibration on my D500, for safety and to avoid having to carry it out independently, so I can not tell you if /how present the f/b focus was on the lens. I will certainly update the evaluation in the coming months, once the objective has been used a few times. sent on February 20, 2021 |
