![]() | Canon EF 400mm f/2.8 L IS II USM Pros: Sharpness, robustness, af, weight balance. Cons: Cost. Opinion: I have been using this wonderful lens for 2 years and still manages to amaze me positively. Combined with a ff body and an apsc with the two tc 1.4x and 2x practically from a 400 2.8 you get to a 1280 5.6 with a wonderful quality even at full opening, it is useful to close only to recover depth of field. The minimum mf is very useful for butterflies and large insects or flowers and the mf limiter for birds in flight because it makes the Af even faster. Even with the 2xiii the sharpness does not decrease in the slightest, only the mf is slightly slower especially with machine bodies a little dated type 7d first version. With the tc 1.4x is all perfect, as not having it mounted. The freehand use tired but is solved with a good monopod or an easel if affixed. The weight, however, is very well balanced with respect to the bracket. The stabilizer is very efficient and stops the image even in the crosshairs impeccably. I replaced the original bracket with a Chinese bracket that directly has the best of all the swiss ark attack for me. What else to say... If you can afford it for me it is the best canvas for quality and versatility. sent on August 30, 2020 |
