![]() | Panasonic S1R Pros: Construction quality, ergonomics, top sensor, very effective stabilizer, single quick single precise and widely configurable autofocus, electronic viewfinder quality, touch and orientable display usability, clarity and menu organization, potential and rapid development of the L-mount system Cons: Discreet battery life, continuous autofocus improveable. Opinion: If I had to sum up in a single thought my impression on this camera I would say "pleasure of use". The impression I had from the first contact is of solidity and functionality. I found all the commands in what for me is the right place. Once you've configured your physical commands to suit your needs, accessing menus is very rare and still quick and intuitive. The file quality is excellent in all respects, detail, dynamic range and high iso hold despite the 47 megapixels. A special note of merit goes to the stabilization system. Using the camera with the Lumix S 24-105-f4 and 70-200-f4 lenses I got results beyond all expectations. My opinion on autofocus is divided into two: The single autofocus is sensitive, immediate and precise, certainly at the level of the best competition. Continuous autofocus is usable but improved. Following the subject you get the feeling that the subject is not always kept in focus properly even if then the photos really out of focus are few. Size and weight: from my point of view the dimensions are right (I never thought that a mirrorless should necessarily be smaller than a reflex) It's not a light camera but not too heavy either. If carried in the backpack with the rest, 3 ects of difference are uninfluential. If held in your hand the weight is compensated by the good balance with the optics and the excellent grip. If held around the neck for a long time the speech is different... of course these considerations are very subjective. Battery life is decent but far from the reflex equivalents. For my type of use I have never had any problems with autonomy but I think that for heavy use a second battery is a must. I find the presence of the double slot with the possibility of using SD, XQD and the recent CF-express very good. Convenient the ability to set directly on the camera time-lapse footage. I also appreciated the presence and usefulness of post focus mode. I do not express opinions on the video front because for now it is not my use. sent on March 16, 2020 |
