![]() | Canon G9X Mark II Pros: Small, light (about 206 gr, hard to beat), fits in your pocket, allows manual control over the shot Cons: None if you use it wisely and with knowledge of the limits of the 1'' sensor. Better not to exceed 1600 iso, limited blur and variable aperture at different focal lengths, some uncertainty every now and then in focusing on very close subjects. Opinion: Purchased after my beloved nikon d3000 stopped working, also in anticipation of use in the mountains for trekking and peaks (with one-day outings where I don't shoot in the first or last hours of daylight) and for travel. I also have a Canon RP, but it often stays on the shelf. For the use I do in the mountains it is perfect because it allows you to remain very light. In 2023 I sold it trying to reduce my camera range to just the canon r50. After a few months I sold the r50, bought back the g9x mark ii and paired it with a canon rp that is used when the outings are several days and require shots in the early and late hours of the day. It is also perfect for taking 360° photos. sent on August 13, 2025 |
