![]() | Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM Pros: Sharpness, Colour, f2.8 constant aperture, Stabilizer, Fast AF Cons: Zoom ring opposite to Nikon, focus ring too short, AF in low light Opinion: I review this lens after 4 months of testing between landscape portrait and astrophotography, the lens is a big upgrade compared to the classic 18-55 or 18-105 kit both in terms of quality and brightness being at f2.8 on the entire focal length, in the hand it gives you that sense of robustness and quality, on any occasion you take home excellent shots and it also holds up well to the phenomenon of difraction at very small apertures. Already at TA it has a good sharpness, closing from f4 / f5 it becomes a razor, it seems to have almost a fixed in the hand, I say almost because in any case zooming the difference from the fixed you can see, I really like the colors it returns, the stabilizer is a bomb I took photos at 1/6 freehand and there is not the slightest trace of microblur, Fast AF. The cons that I can't digest are the zoom ring that oh well you get used to it, the real Achilles heel is the manual focus ring too short, in astrophotography focusing a dot with a ring like this is almost impossible, in this case I take advantage of the fact that in AF you can't rotate the ring and I deactivate it from the camera body in this way once the lock is focused where it is there, obviously like many other lenses little luca equals AF problematic on 5 shots one cannon but it's okay it fits. Overall I consider it an excellent lens, it replaced my kit 18-105 now it is mounted stable on the mi d7100, I recommend it if one wants an all-rounder but of quality, excellent for portraits and landscapes, I took some astro photos but coming from a fixed bright I struggle to appreciate it, maybe closing a little to f4 improves but there are better lenses for astrophotography, Obviously always better than the kit lens. ![]() | Nikon D7100 Pros: Robust, handy, dynamic range, battery life, price, dual slots Cons: Fixed screen Opinion: After 2 years of (non-professional) use I am satisfied, it is a great reflex churns out very beautiful RAW and Jpeg files and well workable in post, excellent dynamic range, holds high iso up to 6400, excellent battery life can cover a whole day of photos and you get to the evening that you still have them, Robust and tropicalized, double slot useful for having both RAW and JPEG divided on 2 SD, for the price of used it is an excellent choice to go from an entrylevel to a semi-professional. It would be 10 if it didn't have a fixed screen which in my opinion is the only flaw! sent on February 25, 2025 |
![]() | Nikon AF-S DX 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR Pros: Versatility, great value for money, AF, VR Cons: At 18mm distorts, sharpness at 105mm, dark Opinion: Lens that I use on my d7100, it is a great all-rounder that I always carry with me, it loses sharpness at 105mm but just close the aperture a little, it is excellent if used during the day outdoors having a maximum aperture of f3.5, it distorts a bit at 18mm. Very precise focusing, VR which in my opinion is very good, the price on used is about 100€ which is in line for the type of lens and quality. I recommend it for those who are just starting out, rather than the classic 18-55 I would spend a few euros and I would buy the 18-105, more versatile and of higher quality. ![]() | Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8 G Pros: Sharpness, final quality of the shot, faithful colors, bright, weight Cons: Chromatic aberrations at f1.8, low-light focus Opinion: Lens bought used in the store for € 100 with 1 year warranty, excellent value for money, I use it for practically everything except where I need a wide angle and churns out really beautiful photos that require little post production, excellent sharpness and color quality, I use it for portraits, landscape photos and a little bit for everything, I was amazed by the use in astrophotography, it sees practically in the dark and can capture details of the sky that cannot be seen with the naked eye, excellent for photos in the evening or in clubs, it returns photos faithful to reality. The only 2 cons are the embarrassing chromatic aberrations at f1.8 and the inaccurate focus in low light, you have to take at least 2 shots to be sure, but for 100€ used even too much, if you use it with knowledge of the facts you can avoid the two cons mentioned above, if it were stabilized it would be 10. Overall rated 9 out of 10. sent on February 06, 2025 |
