![]() | OM System Tough TG-7 Pros: Robust and compact - Great Macro Mode Cons: Fairly steep price - Castrated Aperture Priority Mode - Lens Flare Opinion: I purchased the OM System Tough TG-7 to complement my camera in photographic outputs, as a backup solution. I bought it without great expectations, given the tiny sensor. Instead I found the RAW files fully workable and even in the most complex lighting conditions such as a strong backlight you can recover more than decently the shadow areas and highlights. Too bad that the aperture priority mode is actually a little neutered by the fact that for each focal length you can only select 3 apertures. From the point of view of exposure, this can be remedied with the simple exposure compensation dial. The optics appear good and resolute enough to pair with the small 12 MPx sensor even if sometimes in difficult light conditions it creates annoying flares that are not always easily recovered in post production. In standard light conditions, however, the performance is always well contrasted and better than I expected. The price is quite high but the competitors in this range do less at prices not too far from that of the small TG-7. Another gem of the camera is the macro mode with which you can really get close to the subject with good results and above all there is Focus stalking in the camera, which is not obvious in a compact camera of this range. From the point of view of point-and-shoot use, so I bought it, I think the TG-7 is an excellent compromise. sent on August 14, 2025 |
