Hello, my name is Pamela Cowdery. I was born in the United States, but I've been living in Italy for the last 35 years. I'm not a photographer. I'm an explorer. I don't take photos, I take trips. I travel to places never seen by the human eye, lands so small that, in comparison, ants seem mastodontic. Macro photography you say. Yes, but I go a step further – to abstract macro photography or, better still, macro expressionism. I challenge the concept of photography as simply sharp, focused documentation of what our eyes see, of “reality”. Because for me, reality is not always in focus. It is in constant flux, often blurry and sometimes unrecognizable, incomprehensible. With my camera, through the infinitely small, I embark on a voyage towards the unknown, a voyage of discovery.
